On a side note: the question they feature in the article, holy crap is tuition getting beyond ridiculous in the US. I thought Canada was getting more than high enough
Most of the students I know at my university get maybe 3 hours on their laptops and many have Wacom tablets to write notes with. Most classrooms have plugs now. Writing directly onto the screen is a big value proposition for many of these students. I wouldn't count it out yet.
If a friend came to you and said keep this on your property but don't look in it and the police came and searched your property and found that it was a nuclear missile, I don't think you could say oh but my friend wasn't planning on sharing it with anybody.
This is what we have to understand. Microsoft stores this digital information on servers that THEY OWN. That means that if any child pornography or defaming naked picture is found on their property, THEY are liable.
Every time there is a post about Microsoft, this is the obligatory response. I understand that being such a huge company makes it difficult to change, but from the inside it's very exciting seeing all of the new innovations coming out. Microsoft is certainly no longer resting on the success of Windows but is actually trying to make cool, useful products and shaking things up.
What we have to think about here is that this guy, and probably anyone reading this blog (myself included), is a nerd. The average consumer doesn't give a f* about Ice Cream Sandwich. If their phone does what it needs to do on a daily basis they are happy. It has the same features as it did when they bought it and new apps come out every day. It's not much different with Apple, aside from a few minor features, updates are merely bug fixes. As for us nerds, the internet is crawling with custom roms and custom updates that allow us to fiddle to our heart's content. So no, I don't think Android has much to worry about.
