asylteltine··on I cut GTA Online loading times by 70% (2021)
I love reading this every time it gets posted. This guy is a genius and rockstar should feel bad.
asylteltine··on Carta to exit secondary trading business
What does carta do that a spreadsheet can’t? I don’t understand how that can be so hard you pay an entire company to manage it.

asylteltine··on The browser's biggest TLS mistake
Good article but it’s methods. Not methodologies. Methodology is the study of methods. 99.99% of the time you want to say method. Also price, when you said price point.
asylteltine··on OpenAI and journalism
I’m not even going to read this. ClosedAI should immediately open source their dataset and release all training data.
asylteltine··on 95% of container ships are now going around the Southern Tip of Africa
Taliban are terrorists and will always be terrorists. It’s pretty easy to understand what a terrorist is.
asylteltine··on 95% of container ships are now going around the Southern Tip of Africa
I hate twitter posts. They never have any context and post as if you have all of the context already. And you can’t even see original posts or replies without being logged in. Please don’t post twitter or be kind and just use nitter
asylteltine··on iPhone that fell from hole in Alaska 737 MAX flight is found, still open to Mail
It’s definitely due to either abject stupidity or a lack of understanding. Some people just can’t technology
asylteltine··on iPhone that fell from hole in Alaska 737 MAX flight is found, still open to Mail
I agree. I see a lot of comments about “being intentional about using the phone” but in those cases the phone doesn’t lock anyway… using maps or watching something prevents auto lock. It just makes no sense at all to disable it.
asylteltine··on The journey of the Roman gladius and other swords
Of course I am serious. How can you not be fascinated by the Roman Empire from the tiny village origins to the eventual collapse. There’s so much history and innovation that no other culture was able to offer.
asylteltine··on Xreal's new AR glasses are aimed at the Apple Vision Pro
I want something I can wear on a flight and forget about my environment. I want to block out light entirely. Seems like Vision Pro is the best option for this. I’m hoping Apple will surprise us and steam vr gaming will be possible…
asylteltine··on Irish State announce plan to build a porn preference register for most of the EU
This is fucking crazy! Keep the government out of the internet.
asylteltine··on Windows XP 2024 Edition is everything I want from a new OS
I can’t wait for proton to become even more mainstream. We need to put pressure on AAA titles to support Linux. Many anti cheats already do but it’s the games themselves that refuse to allow Linux. The faster I can dump windows the better because the only windows install I have is for a dedicated gaming machine.
asylteltine··on The journey of the Roman gladius and other swords
As a man, I think about the Roman Empire at least once a week if not more.
asylteltine··on FAA orders grounding of more than 170 Boeing 737 Max 9s
It’s resistant to turbulence. It has the nicest cabins for business class and up. It has many entrances which is nice because then economy doesn’t need to walk past you in contempt. It also has more safety features than I can list which makes it very hard to crash even intentionally.
asylteltine··on FAA orders grounding of more than 170 Boeing 737 Max 9s
The A380 is the best plane ever made in the entirety of human history. It’s a damn shame it’s not used more. I’m hoping new fuel efficient engines make it viable again because there simply is NOTHING like first class on an A380.
asylteltine··on FAA orders grounding of more than 170 Boeing 737 Max 9s
Good. Finally the FAA got a spine with Boeing.
asylteltine··on Alaska Airlines grounds Boeing 737 Max 9 planes after mid-air window blowout
That happened exactly twice though. That’s certainly not common at all and yes the tear off strips are supposed to minimize that damage either way
asylteltine··on Fired comedian ordered to get day job back after jokes ruled 'simply funny'
Which part of my comment is factually incorrect?
asylteltine··on Alaska Airlines grounds Boeing 737 Max 9 planes after mid-air window blowout
Well you can feel better knowing that planes are designed to have tear off strips so if a piece ever rips off it only tears to a maximum small area and shouldn’t keep tearing. At least that’s how Boeing designed it…
asylteltine··on Alaska Airlines grounds Boeing 737 Max 9 planes after mid-air window blowout
Airbus is so much better than Boeing as of late. New Boeing planes are junk.
asylteltine··on How Gyms Make Money (2015)
Why does your sentence start with but as if that’s a bad thing?
asylteltine··on Boeing wants FAA to exempt MAX 7 from safety rules to get it in the air
Even if unintentional, it’s funny because that’s how MD operated. Sure it’s a plane. Is it good? No.
asylteltine··on Boeing wants FAA to exempt MAX 7 from safety rules to get it in the air
The FAA also didn’t think smoke alarms were important. Or radar systems. Or collision avoidance. I can go on and on… they didn’t care until at least 300 people die at once. The FAA doesn’t care about critical understaffing of towers and won’t until a fucking mid air collision happens again.
asylteltine··on Human sperm cooperate on the competitive pathway to fertilization: study
Isn’t another explanation that they travel in such large amounts they will eventually interact with the right system due to chemical interactions? That is the right proteins will activate the right channels eventually when you have hundreds of thousands of attempts? I don’t think they are conscious in the sense they are driving along a road and know where to turn. It’s all chemical signaling and statistics.
asylteltine··on How Gyms Make Money (2015)
The best thing I ever did was invest in some quality gym equipment at home. I have a power rack, tons of weights, bars, etc. treadmill, TVs, speakers, whatever. Never going back to a gym again.
asylteltine··on Facebook incorrectly reports personal blog to DigitalOcean for phishing
Sometimes I even get into infinite captcha loops without a vpn, even just on my phone. I LITERALLY cannot browse certain sites like wayfair because of cloudflare. I have done nothing wrong.
asylteltine··on Facebook incorrectly reports personal blog to DigitalOcean for phishing
Way too much of the internet is on cloudflare. They are and will continue to be the arbiters of speech on the internet. God forbid I browse the web with a vpn!
asylteltine··on Now Blocking 56,037,235 IP Addresses, and Counting
I wouldn’t put something on the public internet without geoblocking China, Russia, and the UAE. You should too! Stop their bad behavior by removing them from the internet.
