astroflection··on Boring Company cited for almost 800 environmental violations in Las Vegas
I wonder what chemicals were involved. Probably nothing that you wouldn't find in any other construction site with heavy machinery. Fuel? Grease?
astroflection··on Figure 03, our 3rd generation humanoid robot
> Or better yet, do away with the check in desk, and let people check in on their phone (some hotels already do this, and you tap your phone on the door to unlock)

So one more app to install that I'm sure would be a privacy nightmare.

astroflection··on IRonCub: A Humanoid Robot Designed to Fly Like Iron Man
Obviously being able to fly a bipedal kill bot into a "war zone" and then use it for door-to-door fighting is something certain large organizations are looking for. The stupid baby mask is just to distract critics of kill bot tech.
astroflection··on Kiss reality goodbye: AI-generated social media has arrived
"Kiss reality goodbye: AI-generated social media has arrived"

At point was social media ever a reflection of reality?

astroflection··on Haiku Validator
It thinks the word "service" is three syllables and "chocolate" is four.
astroflection··on Britain to introduce compulsory digital ID for workers
Correlation is not causation.
astroflection··on Death rates rose in hospital ERs after private equity firms took over
We'd be better of if heathcare was never provided for profit.
astroflection··on ChatControl: EU wants to scan all private messages, even in encrypted apps
Governments should be transparent and the people should be opaque. Any government that attempts to make things otherwise looses legitimacy.
astroflection··on B.C. rescuers use helicopter-mounted cell tower to find missing man
Would this work for a phone that is in airplane mode? Meaning does airplane mode - which we all like to use to save battery power at times - still broadcast an IMEI beacon?
astroflection··on Yt-dlp: Upcoming new requirements for YouTube downloads
I can confirm this. I guess they didn't like me using Invidious.
astroflection··on Make Sunsets: Geoengineering
I just finished reading Termination Shock by Neal Stephenson. Seems unreal that people are already trying to augment(because "repair" isn't the right word) the Earth's climate using SO2.
astroflection··on x402 — An open protocol for internet-native payments
> Is there a reason why you wouldn’t pay ahead of time? I just understand why you couldn’t buy a few dozen/hundred/thousand dollars worth of credits, and wait until it runs low.

Maybe you want to buy the service that is priced the lowest at the moment. Example: providers of inference services could drop their prices if they are underutilized. You could then have your system check for the best price and purchase only what is needed at the best price.

astroflection··on Why is Venus hell and Earth an Eden?
I see a new action/thriller space movie on the horizon.
astroflection··on A simple way to measure knots has come unraveled
I keep a short length of rope around the house where I occasionally pick it up and practice some knots. If you rely on them to protect yourself like in climbing they needs to be memorized to the point where you can tie them in the dark.
astroflection··on The death rays that guard life
At the start of the CoViD pandemic I installed a UV lamp(turned on using a current sensor on the blower fan power wires) in the return air manifold on my furnace. My family still ended up all getting CoViD once one of us got it. But I keep it there because... why not? I'm sure it helps reduce the viral load in the air a bit.
astroflection··on Leatherman (vagabond)
There should be a majestic law that forbids both the rich and poor to use their position in public office to enrich themselves.
