astoilkov··on Open-Source Contributors Worth Sponsoring
I like this type of business model. Create it for free and earn from your biggest fans. However, it's probably a big struggle for them.
astoilkov··on Open-Source Contributors Worth Sponsoring
Thanks.

I like this nomination as maintainers of popular repos are even more underpaid than the original creators of the repos.

Another good argument. Maybe I should include him but clarify why I'm adding him.
astoilkov··on Open-Source Contributors Worth Sponsoring
All the arguments make sense. I've removed him from the list.

I agree, I'm helping the Power Law distribution.

I wondered a lot if I should add Sindre to the list — most people know him, he earns a lot. I decided to add him because he contributes back (sponsors other open-source creators) and creates tons of value for the community.

I'm looking at him right now — https://github.com/kovidgoyal. You can sponsor him at https://github.com/sponsors/kovidgoyal.

It seems like he's spending a lot of time developing Calibre and has only 9 sponsors. Do you know of any other way he can make money out of Calibre?

GitHub contributions graph shows that he has consistently worked on Calibre for the past 12 years. That's amazing!

astoilkov··on DHH: It's hard to draw lessons from your own failures
This makes me sad. I sometimes feel I am doing the same thing with my business but on a smaller scale(thousands instead of millions).
astoilkov··on Ask HN: What feature did you find after years of using macOS?
⌘⇧/ — focuses current application help search field, this is gold
astoilkov··on Ask HN: What feature did you find after years of using macOS?
⌘⌃⇧4 – for screenshots that go directly into your clipboard

⌘O – open file/folder in Finder

⌘J in Finder, Set as Defaults — sets default view options for all folders (struggled a lot with Finder inconsistencies before finding this out)

You could check out Indie Hackers. It's the most amazing place for software developers to learn from example. https://www.indiehackers.com
astoilkov··on Show HN: My new tiny TodoMVC implementation built with JSBlocks
With only 150 lines of code this is one of the smallest TodoMVC implementations ever.
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
You mean the animations demo? This is to showcase how to work with animations to speed. CSS3 Transitions/Animations have the same performance regardless of the framework.
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
Are you sure you are getting correct results. Theoretically Angular can't be faster than both libraries because it does not implement diffing algorithm.

astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
It is similar to Knockout. However, Knockout is hard to manage because you have to invent architecture on your own while jsblocks offers MVC out of the box. Additionally, Knockout don't have routing, server-side rendering, animations, filtering, sorting, paging, lazy loading of views, validation, working with remote data out of the box.

Also the debugging experience is a cool feature - http://jsblocks.com/learn/introduction-why-jsblocks#debuggin....

astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
I believe that HTML, CSS, JavaScript should be combined the way they exist in the moment. Elm is too revolutionary for me. :)
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
You are correct. I am thinking of removing the functional methods. It would be better to leave this battle to lodash and underscore.
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
You are absolutely correct. It actually is an error. Thanks I will fix it.
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
You are absolutely correct. It is hard to compete with Google and Facebook. Possibly impossible. I love what I do and it is great experience developing jsblocks.

And one last thing you could check OneScript - https://github.com/astoilkov/OneScript. Do you think it is simple?

astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
I am actually considering removing the functional API. I agree lodash is better. It just doesn't make sense to use something that is not proven.
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
I agree. Performance is important because the lack of it creates problems. Additionally, with performance I want to showcase that you can rely on a framework that is built with care because it is hard to be compared with frameworks like React and Angular built from the two largest companies in the world. It needs skill for a single person to create such a framework.
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
Great questions. I currently filling the documentation so you could watch the repo or star it and keep an eye on it. The idea is that components will be like objects and elements so you could easily access them. Take a look at this example:

<div> { this.each(profiles);

  <!-- Render all profiles -->
  <Profile>
} <div> { this.find('Profile').setIsMyProfile(true);

  <!-- render personal profile -->
  My profile.
  <Profile>
}

What do you think about OneScript - https://github.com/astoilkov/OneScript?
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
You could load views asynchronously. Observables could be compared to RxJS but they do not use it. They are inspired by Knockout observables.
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
You are totally correct. I believe it could have taken another direction if I have done this. It is hard to be compared to React built by Facebook but I started first. :)
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
Yeah definitely. It is hard to be compared to React which is built within Facebook. I am happy to even get here. :)
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
Cool question. Please take a look at OneScript - https://github.com/astoilkov/OneScript and share your opinion. I believe this is the next step in developing applications. Bringing HTML, CSS and JavaScript in one place where components are modular and small.
astoilkov··on Show HN: An Isomorphic JavaScript Framework Faster Than React
No. jsdom is not the perfect solution. jsblocks is using Virtual DOM and have specific implementation to support server-side rendering which makes the framework more powerful and flexible.
