asmr··on My lizard brain is no match for infinite scroll
Thankfully my brain was programmed/imprinted during the "pull to refresh" era. I rarely scroll past a page length before I move on to something else or scroll to the top and refresh. On a more serious note I've had problems with TikTok.

The most helpful thing I've done to manage this is to make it incredibly difficult/annoying to access your stuff. I don't have the Instagram app on my phone and all though I have several twitter accounts I only keep 1 signed in to my twitter app.

asmr··on Windows Defender is enough, if you harden it
Created a gist as a reference with all of the powershell commands and some additional info from this thread, such as exploit protection. I'm considering a full script.

asmr··on Windows Defender is enough, if you harden it
That script is a well known hack to get Pro/Enterprise features on Windows Home version, in this case the Group Policy Editor. Not necessary for most users.
asmr··on HN call for help: Thousand of IT specialists flee Russia as job market collapses
This is to hurt the Russian government and economy so that the leaders can reconsider their decisions. They live in an authoritarian regime, the citizens are negatively impacted as a side-effect of the decision of their leaders. Have some empathy, I'm sure a majority of Russia citizens are not ok with the war.
asmr··on Wireshark Labs
Excited to read the title of this post. I've been searching for general pcap labs recently to sharpen my packet analysis skills. A little disappointed to see it's from CNTDA (since i've already done the labs from 7th ed). It's been a while though perhaps I will revisit these labs for the 8th ed.

This site also offers a ton of pcaps but not necessarily in exercise/lab format https://www.netresec.com/?page=PcapFiles

asmr··on Tell HN: Stack Exchange (Stack Overflow) is now blocking Tor
Please define "fine", a majority of websites and services either outright block Tor or severely limit the traffic.
asmr··on GTA 6 Confirmed
This is the most recent one I've seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_7XOMO7nJE

IMO, GTA IV 1.0.4.0 actually looks better when done properly. https://external-preview.redd.it/MjjuKj_N4Rn6jyXjZc5ikVk_N3m...

asmr··on Goldman Sachs Working Conditions Survey
I had a boss that has a son that works at Goldman. He says that it's an "initiation" period meant to weed people out before you make the real money.

asmr··on FreeBSD kernel-mode WireGuard moves forward out-of-tree
Apparently the original implementation had issues. Apparently NetGate shipped some bad code after hiring a FreeBSD contributor for their implementation. Kyle Evans has even decided to step away from maintaining wireguard-freebsd. Seems like a mess.
asmr··on I self-learned to code at 30
Not a big fan of these survivorship bias blog posts. I've been fiddling with code since I was about 11 years old (ActionScript for Club Penguin cheat tools as well as some Visual Basic). I got pretty serious in High School and learned Java as well Python. I am now pretty comfortable in the web stack as well as C, but still do not have the confidence to become a developer. I don't get how people can spend roughly 3 months learning to code and make a career out of it. Surely they must be lacking in certain core areas of CS.

I get that these kinds of posts are meant to be motivational, "Anyone can do it! Hoorah!" type of thing, but it seems misleading.

asmr··on GitHub, fuck your name change
I'm a black american and I think it's more racist to attribute the word "master" to master/slave dynamic. Especially when I've always thought of something like "master" in the context of GitHub to refer to a "master" copy. This change is ineffective.
asmr··on Google Play store bans polyamory dating app
this isn't a bad idea. i'm just afraid 4chan doesn't really have that kind of strength anymore.
asmr··on East Coast Internet Outage
Issues with FiOS in the Boston area. Traceroute seems to point to an issue originating in NY but that's just speculation. Apparently a lot of other services are down. Might be a Tier 1 or 2 ISP.
asmr··on FunkWhale: Decentralized Music Server
Is this federated or p2p? It would be amazing to have something like SoulSeek but in a music player (Spotify) format. I have rather eclectic taste when it comes to music and Spotify is missing a lot of good stuff.
asmr··on Hackers Were Inside Citrix for Five Months
Hospitality as well.
asmr··on Ask HN: What is your passive income 2019?
I made a twitter bot (@schumannbot) that posts the Schumann Resonance graphs from http://sosrff.tsu.ru/new/shm.jpg It gained close to 10k followers within a year.

I started selling related T-Shirts, and make ~$60 a month. Nothing big, but it's beer money. I plan on expanding the related website and even starting a YouTube channel, but it's not exactly something I planned on monetizing.
