Infected with the entrepreneurial bug and had spit out Islamgram iOS app, PrayerTi.me iPhone app, Islamic Event Finder, DemoGeek and a few other products...don't know when I would hit GOLD! Your suggestions are more than welcome!
The new Gmail interface itself is ugly and then you add this to it...it's all gray everywhere and kind of hard to make distinctions. Don't even talk about using this new Gmail theme in lower screen size laptops...it's looks absolutely ugly...come on Google, I'm sure you can do better.
If it's a shared computer then I'd have a root folder for each family member and specifics go underneath those root folders. On my personal computer I have folders for each major activity like work, side-projects etc. and files are grouped under these folders.
I still don't know why but I get more things done using my MacBook for few hours in the evening than with a Windows machine the whole daytime...again, don't ask me why, but that's the reality and I'm happy for that.
What will iOS be by 2015? When we are not able to predict what comes after iOS 5 how can IDC predict/project an arbitrary conclusion? Just doesn't make any sense!
I use Evernote for all my note taking purposes. It's one central hub to dump everything I can imagine. It's generous in it's search feature as well as platform availability (there is an Evernote app for it). Even though a lot can be improved in terms of performance and in terms of usability I'm still sticking to Evernote for most of my note taking needs.
Having said that I gave SpringPad a shot lately and it's dramatically impressive. It has more feature set than Evernote but the only gripe I had was the inconvenient flow of notes and the performance of their mobile apps. Of course, since I was deep into Evernote I was a bit lazy to move all my notes into SpringPad as well. But if I have to give it a shot I'll go with SpringPad if Evernote continues to lag in terms of performance on their mobile apps.
Even though I get things done late night I wanted to get up early and get to work early. The only for it to work is if I get to bed early which I struggle to. Would be nice if there is a simple way to consistently get to sleep early.
If it can ever work, I tried to install on a 64-bit machine and it consistently failed no matter what I did...then finally what I did?...gave up! Will wait for IE10, if it can install at least :)
Sorry, I should have been a bit more clear with my question, I wanted to do this programatically. I can find the latitude/longitude based on US zipcodes but was wondering what would be the easiest and best way to find the same for international locations.
I think what @anujkk meant was not to get distracted with side projects, learning projects etc. I think you can spend a little time on learning projects and that justifies the ROI in terms of time but I think he is primarily talking about the other distracting smaller projects.
Keep in mind that the concept of Groupon not just need a group of people to tip the deal but also would need a "sustained effort" of a group of a people behind the scenes to get the interestingness of Groupon going. If you think about it, it's not that easy of a part to find those interesting local deals and set constraints on top of it and on and on...
To me, that's one reason all these clones fail miserably.
The only thing I like about this is the code pane as it renders code decent enough. Everything else is a bit unfinished work it looks like. Time to change my Dropbox password then!
I think the only requirement is that you can not work for the company that you own on H1B visa. If you think what's the point of creating a startup for which you can not feed your blood and sweat to grow it...go figure...
At least acknowledging if they've got the email or not would go a long way from the one who sent that email and eagerly waiting for a response (positive or negative). But...
I'm aware of it but since it looks like they don't even acknowledge the receipt of the email pitches it kind of confuses us to wait and see or just completely forget about it and move on. That's when I thought of asking how long to wait till I move on to HN (since I don't want to piss them off if they really intend to write about it later and it's just a matter of time).
Alfred makes QuickSilver run for its hype. It may not be as customizable as QuickSilver but it does the job very well and a lot nicer than QuickSilver.
Why not Facebook.com? It was one of the social network sites that stood out in terms of its clean and simple interface and still todate they've kept improving the many UI elements and have brought some nice touch to some of the UI elements (Facebox etc.)
I love CodeIgniter for PHP but every time I peek into RoR I feel like home. The main turn off for me so far was the deployment overhead. With CodeIgniter you can just carry your entire web app in a thumb drive and plug it into any machine that has the basics (webserver, database server etc.) setup. With RoR I felt the deployment is more of an overhead. Dealing with SSH scripts and such haven't felt comfortable to me yet and I have gone back to CodeIgniter for its simplicity and so far there wasn't much of a disappointment. Pretty much everything can be done in CodeIgniter it seems, one way or the other.
Having said that I completely agree that RoR would be the way to go given the elegance of Ruby and the Rails framework. Will surely give it a try couple more times until I feel comfortable dealing with all the aspects of RoR. Until then CodeIgniter for me...
I get into the rhythm (the creative rhythm, I mean) by ~ 9 or 10 PM and could go on till early morning ~ 2 AM. Had to get up ~ 7 for day job. Sleep debt easily builds up over the work week and I try to catch up during the weekends and most of the time end up with a bad feel or a bad headache.
I second that...CodeIgniter is really nice with no fuss...Rails is nice too unless you get familiar with it...in the mean time CodeIgniter is your rescue. Simple framework that's quite flexible.
