I don't sense any benevolence in their words. They are just pulling off their resources and dumping the framework on the public, hoping passionate losers will contribute.
As C++ devs we used to complain a lot about it's compilation speed. Now after moving to Rust, sometimes we wish we could just go back to C++ due to Rust's terrible compilation speeds! :-)
Genuinely asking as I've tracked numerous CVEs in Chrome and Firefox. Also I don't have much experience with Rust, so I don't represent the RIIR community!
I'm so glad we settled on common notations (drived from Brahmi script) to represent numbers. On one end, we humans chase precision with math. On the other end we humans can't even agree on spellings in the same language spoken in different continents. I wonder if spelling differences has resulted in any critical failures such as the metrics conversion error in NASA Mars Climate Orbiter in 1999 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Climate_Orbiter
