aroc··on Show HN: Spotbot, a Slack bot that monitors your website for visual bugs
Interesting, but this needs to be integrated into CI, not Slack, to be taken seriously by teams larger than just a few people. And arguably, I tend to set up CI of any serious project before it goes to production.

This looks awesome, but I can't use anything for notes without mobile support. I'm excited for when that day comes. :)
aroc··on Meetless Monday – give yourself a day without meetings
Just wanna drop a note here that I implemented this for every Wednesday of my week about 2 months ago. The result?

Massive productivity. I get more done on Wednesdays than any other day of the week and it has not affected by collaboration or communication with my team members at all.

Highly recommend this for engineers and designers. Product managers and other roles this might be tough and potentially counter-productive.

I agree with that chat apps make me and my team more productive, and I work at a developer centric organization where we build analytics tools (and I'm also a developer). The reason I'm more productive?

Unfortunately, not everyone uses the command line. Not everyone is comfortable with it. Additionally, even if you are (like me and my team), it's not collaborative. If I run a query in my team's room, they can all see the results and we can easily discuss it. Did I mention on the go with Slack for my phone? Can't do that with CLI.

Slack also supports link embedding, images and more. All things not supported by CLI.

This is fantastic. Great work! How long have you guys been working on this?
aroc··on Browserify vs. Webpack – Configuration isn't evil
I wrote this as part of a larger response on the Medium article itself, but I figured I'd post here as well:

I gotta say though, when people talk the “assembly required” with Gulp, I really don’t think it’s anywhere near as bad as it’s made out to be. I may use ~10–20 very small and easy to use Gulp plugins in anywhere from 8 to 10 simple tasks. Setting up a new Gulpfile takes me all of 15 minutes (far less if I use a template from a previous project) and I get complete control over my build. Additionally, wiring Browserify and Gulp together is extremely easy and straightforward. The config style of Webpack feels a whole lot like Grunt and wow have I seen some nasty Gruntfiles before.
