armini··on About half of Bandcamp employees have been laid off
yeah but when i talk to artists, they tell me they love the process of creating music. they don't have the money or interest for procurement, warehousing or customer support. They just want feedback on their new beat...

our platform facilitates micro transactions with minimal fees because we take away the bank burden as much as possible. We focus on the creators, as long as they create great content people will reward them. platforms turn to crap when people find the need to sell other things. why should i sit through amazing youtube content only to be sold nordvpn? surely the community can do better with micros transactions.
armini··on Bandcamp has been sold to Songtradr. What does this mean for the musicians?
thanks for your contributions to bandcamp, I'd love to connect with you to explore opportunities working on www.kuky.com we're a platform that actually pays creators for their music.
armini··on We are beginning to roll out new voice and image capabilities in ChatGPT
We've built something similar that allows you to tweak/update notes & reminders https://qwerki.com/ (private beta) here's the video demo https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2hpBTxjplIE we've since moved to training our own LLAMA as it's more responsive & we have better reliability.
armini··on Lessons from YC AI Startups
Very valid point regarding the value. We've been training our own LLAMA model for this app https://www.instagram.com/reel/CwgtFORyCuu/ & we ask ourselves the value questions every day.... We love using the app but we need to see session times increase to justify the value aspect.
armini··on Show HN: Query your database using plain English, fully on-premises
Nice work! that project is looking great. Any plans to open source this project?
armini··on GPT-3.5 Turbo fine-tuning and API updates
How are you currently hosting your LLaMA 2? Any tips, tricks or advice?
armini··on Ask HN: Tell us about your project that's not done yet but you want feedback on
https://qwerki.com/ (ChatGPT powered personal assistant)

Working in a startup of two people means I'm always context switching & lose track of my day. I convinced my brother to build an app that helps us manage our notes & reminders using ChatGPT. We found it to be really helpful for our day to day work & we recently had someone do an awesome review of our app https://www.youtube.com/shorts/x27OhTQ9bA0

Happy to share testflight link for anyone else interested in helping us

armini··on Was Y Combinator worth it?
thanks for sharing your experience, hope the venture goes well....
armini··on Was Y Combinator worth it?
Yes it's helped me handle rejections (starting from 2017 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kNN6O_C8-9apBDRkl4BsfzcQfah... ). We're still working on the same project just rebranded (kuky.com) iterating on user feedback & building an organic community that loves what we're doing https://www.instagram.com/reel/CtR9Lnav1GH/?igshid=MzRlODBiN...

Following YC taught us to make what people love. Not being accepted meant that it took us a little longer as we had to build our own network. In a way I'm actually proud we managed to come so far self funded, Investor check is nice but user love holds far more value for us now.

armini··on The ad-based internet is dying, and it's getting worse in the process [video]
Big platforms are slowly decaying but alternatives are also slowly getting traction with new business models. This is an example that's slowly growing in the lofi-music community https://www.instagram.com/reel/CtR9Lnav1GH/?igshid=MzRlODBiN...
armini··on Power Delete Suite for Reddit
Other platforms will take market share from Reddit that actually recognises & rewards creators instead of giving them pointless badges https://youtube.com/shorts/-h4Lz9xKgnI?feature=share
armini··on Apple Vision Pro: Apple’s first spatial computer
FaceTime on Apple Vision Pro makes it easy to connect and collaborate. It's just a shame that you can't see their face while wearing apple-vision.
armini··on DinoV2: Meta’s Open Source State-of-the-art computer vision models
DINOv2 exists today because of the contributions of countless other maintainers in their dependency tree https://thanks.dev/e/gh/facebookresearch/dependencies if they are going to license it for non commercial, it would be nice if they actually support their community.
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
wow! love the fact that you had also considered coinbase payment integration. really neat..
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
Yeah a lot of people here question why we're charging a minimum 5% fee but fail to understand that we all need to make ends meet or else we will also be shut down in time.
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
Good point, using thanks.dev you can adjust to scan multiple levels into the dependency tree. That ensures you can reach as many people as possible.

Thanks for sharing your experience & insight. You’re observations are similar to our experience. We as a community could always do a better job recognising & rewarding each other.
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
That’s good because maintainers who receive funds can forward it to others or even send it to an open collective. That helps keep the money circulating in the ecosystem.
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
I personally like to see companies sponsoring maintainers. We’re working to clarify that with the community is the terms have different value propositions & financial implications.
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
We are working to open source our project & we also have an api integration solution for those who prefer to only share their package files.
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
We don’t intentionally block anyone but we’re looking to see what could be the problem. Thanks for letting us know.
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
great observation & questions, we will update that on our FAQ shortly. If users aren't registered then we can't verify who's project admin & no funds will be allocated to them from the sponsors pool. Only when an admin register then we can allocate funds.

My Name is Armin Nehzat (aka armini), my brother is Ali Nehzat (aka qwerki). Feel free to also look us up on linkedin if that helps. Here's a podcast of my brother talking about how he started the project https://podcast.sustainoss.org/148

There's already a lot of foundations that haven't been able to scale the process of paying thousands of developers due to tax & employment issues across the globe. We think creating the right commercial incentives would have a better chance but we might also be wrong. Time will tell...
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
You're absolutely right. Some orgs have huge lists. We do suggest the split but it's rather subjective so we also provide the tools to let sponsors boots & exclude.
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
Sorry we had a slight outage but it should be working fine now.
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
thanks for the validation, it means a lot to us.
armini··on Sponsor the open source projects you depend on
Sure, send us a DM on our discord. We'd love to help.
