aristofun··on Tax cuts for the wealthy only benefit the rich (2023)
Are you talking about wealth tax or income tax? Your comment doesn’t make much sense to me.

In all places i know - income tax is already progressive enough. It never regresses.

> Piketty has several books on the subject you can read

There are plenty of books written on marxism, voodoo magic etc. it doesn’t prove pikketty is smart or his ideas will work. What kind of argument is that?

aristofun··on Mossad accicentally injected data to a French lawyer phone instead of extracting
Yep, they make sense to an army of qatar bots.
aristofun··on Mossad accicentally injected data to a French lawyer phone instead of extracting
You’re writing familiar words and letters but they don’t make any sense when put together

Someone made a mistake doing their job - what’s the big deal? Why is it on HN?
aristofun··on Tax cuts for the wealthy only benefit the rich (2023)
> I'm not sure why thousands of middle class people would "bear the burden"

Because there are many ways it can play out.

One of the obvious - if rich are too uncomfortable they flee the assets out of the country and the amount of taxes collected drops -> all middle and low class is left to compensate for it.

As far as i know similar dynamics already happened in various places throughout history.

But dumb marxists are incapable of thinking about anything productive or creative to solve the problem, they only think about how to take someone else’s.

Partially because of low intellect (i.e. inability to calculate multiple steps forward), but mostly because of the scarcity mindset, thinking about life as a zero sum game.

We need to be better than that.

aristofun··on Tax cuts for the wealthy only benefit the rich (2023)
Whatever scheme you will think is “fair” - Besos, not you, will find a way around it. But thousands of middle class and small business owners will bear the burden while dumb marxists keep complaining about their free lunch.
aristofun··on Tax cuts for the wealthy only benefit the rich (2023)
All the brain dead marxists here - please remember, any artificially promoted slogans whether it’s “tax the rich” or “cut the taxes” are there only to get your votes. The real problem is never as simple as turning few knobs.
aristofun··on US and China race to be first to build Skynet. Either way we're F'ed
What a nonsense. Didn't you read the babylon tower parable? Spoiler alert: no winners, just another economical disaster waiting to happen.
aristofun··on How did Wikipedia layout become so bloated?
Layouts are logical symptoms of underlying deeper problem
aristofun··on How did Wikipedia layout become so bloated?
Go and google it. Youll find plenty of examples and research.

Here is just one I’ve found https://manhattan.institute/article/is-wikipedia-politically...

Another fresh example that comes to mind is systematic anti Israeli whitewashing of radical movements and ideologies.

aristofun··on How did Wikipedia layout become so bloated?
I’ll answer deeper question “why” if you don’t mind.

Wikipedia itself has become corrupted and politically and ideologically biased in past years. It has been shown multiple times.

When you stop pursuing the truth and start pursuing an agenda - things get ugly over time. It’s a general pattern.

aristofun··on Ask HN: Why can't Google create monopolies anymore?
Once you’re big you are not hungry anymore and you have something to loose, hence you face a fundamental choice either you risk to win, or you play safe to not loose what you’ve got.

Most gigants choose the second obviously. People capable and willing to risk leave the ship. Best choice you are left with is to buy promising startups and try your best not to ruin them. And this is what they do.

aristofun··on Ask HN: I feel like I've lost my identity due to AI
With all due respect if you consider ideas that llm gives you back as “novel” or same/better quality than your own, then your own were not novel and not great to begin with. Therefore you didn’t really loose nor gain anything except a point of view. Which is arbitrary in this case.
aristofun··on Ask HN: What company could create an iOS/Android competitor worth adopting?
Many could. But no one seems to ready to risk everything to make it popular and widely adopted.
aristofun··on Whats the Hardest Challenges in AI?
The deepest fundamental and unsolved challenge is to define “intelligence”
aristofun··on Ask HN: I am not able to find a job. Should I switch stacks?
Serious employers don’t care what tools you used, they care what heights did you reach (what kind of projects did you deliver).
aristofun··on Microsoft fire idTech team at Id software
I’m happy every time takented people leave bad company.

Now they’re are free to create their own thing or join someone not as rotten as ms.

To be fair it looks like a rational decision from ms perspective. If being #1 in game engines is not a priority.

aristofun··on Ask HN: Is HN crowd a left-leaning?
I think hn is still heavily influenced by Silicon Valley, so your guess is absolutely correct.
aristofun··on “Beyond the limit”: Satellites and mirrors in space pose threat to the night sky
We don’t take our cities sound and light pollution seriously.

I bet it plays important role in all the anxiety and other popular health issues rising.

aristofun··on AI coding is a nightmare. Am I the only one experiencing this?
LLMs are only as good as the average codebase they were trained on. What else did you expect?

aristofun··on Liberty and Absurdity in 2026
No, not specific timestamp. My point is that on average within a single generation lifespan all things considered US has always been at least in top 10, often leading the list.

And that is not an easy achievement that so many tiktok-minded take for granted these days.

And you must be blind or too focused on US problems to not see how many politicians and leaders all over the world are obviously corrupt and/or dumb.

aristofun··on Liberty and Absurdity in 2026
It depends on what exact period of time you look at. And how deep you look for all hidden tensions and unresolved conflicts of interests waiting its time (in europe for example).

Also you will have hard time arguing about _total collapse_ in US

aristofun··on Liberty and Absurdity in 2026
Do you know of any other country that is perfect? Or free from downtimes?

Before you make such blanket and shallow statements you should take things in perspective.

To my limited knowledge current economical, political and sociological situation in virtually any other place is worse (from “comparable” to much much worse depending on the attributes important to you, with only a handful attributes that one may say are better).

aristofun··on US Supreme Court Just Blew Up EU-US Data Transfers
Can someone explain me like im 10 - what exactly is the root problem here? Why all these dances (and wasted taxpayers money) with data living here or there? Isnt it (in general) just another unnecessary pain for good guys while relatively easy solvable issue for bad guys? What do I miss? Genuine question.
aristofun··on The deadly rise of giant trucks and SUVs
How easy it is to put all tge dogs on a vehicle, rather than on drivers.

If you ban a truck - the asshole driving it will just buy bmw instead.

Don’t you see? Why all the good people have to suffer?

aristofun··on Israel targeted Gaza children resulting in genocide, UN inquiry says
Posts like this should not be on hn in the first place.

Within the given context it is a valid question.

aristofun··on Israel targeted Gaza children resulting in genocide, UN inquiry says
Perfect speech, I wish hamas and their 70% supporters in gaza could really hear it
aristofun··on Ask HN: Are people optimistic about the future?
To be pessimistic about anything beyond one’s own specific life situation is deeply arrogant and ignorant.

There is absolutely nothing unprecedented about current downturn that history hasn’t seen before. And current life standards on average even in worst of the places are far higher than they were in same places in the past (probably with some exceptions).
