I guarantee you that a run of the mill MBA program will say something about institutional knowledge being important. You’re needlessly and unjustifiably finding an excuse to dunk on something that you know people here dislike, despite it having very little to do with the actual topic. Which…fine. But you’re also so keen to do it that you aren’t even correct. Please stop projecting every gripe you have with your boss onto this mythical “evil MBA”.

I’m sick to death of “x isn’t really yours”, “you don’t really own x”. Nerds think that it’s a great pinch of dramatic language to make their point, but I guarantee you that it always comes across is tiring opinionated pedantry. Can we please, please, stop it.

Very ‘ironic’ that this is quite a…dishonest representation of the truth.

Yes. This is precisely it. There aren’t two sides to this, just people that haven’t themselves experienced this absolutely inevitability. These sorts of inexact-looking tools are worth their weight in gold for that reason alone.

If that were the case, they wouldn’t have had such a low tax rate to begin with.

> the few that are at risk…

Boxes get popped all the time. Why are you painting such a dishonest picture?

> and people wonder why I have the best working phone and pc at the office...

Probably because you know about computers. Nothing to do with your poor security practice.

And this still doesn’t say anything about the explicitly absolutist advice in the parent comment. “No matter the circumstance, turn auto-update off! Just in case you want to partake in some piracy!”

Absurd. There are benefits to enabling auto-updating (security, etc). One should weigh up the costs / benefits oneself and make a call based on that. As usual, such absolutist guidance is hyperbolic.
