aplanas··on Why Go and Rust Are Not Competitors (2015)
I do not see that concurrency is a first class concept in Rust at all. The only mechanism that is in the language are the Send and Sync traits, and is even partially out of it.

Rust do not have language constructs for any concurrency/parallel model, and this is a good thing. You can use fork-join, parallel iterators, mutex, rwlocks, channels (mpsc, mpmc...) or any other model as a library.

The nice thing is that, as you say, is the type system the component that guarantee a free from data race code in safe Rust.

aplanas··on Hyper Is Docker Done the Right Way
I like the initial idea very much. As I can see this is a wrapper over QEMU and controlled by QMP [1][2], so they are providing a kernel, initrd and a image. It is also configuring a machine profile (memory, vcpu, bus, devices, etc.). There are also interfaces for libvirt, xen and others virtualization technologies.

This also looks similar of what Docker is doing now in Windows with HyperV.

My question here is: from where comes the speed improvement in relation with a classical VM approach?

aplanas··on Lots of progress for Debian's reproducible builds
I love this kind of projects, and I think that for Debian is one of the best things that can happens.

Also openSUSE have reproducible builds/packages since ages via OBS (http://build.opensuse.org) and now Factory/Tumbleweed have reproducible packages + automatic CI (using openQA: https://openqa.opensuse.org) Quite an achievement for a rolling distribution.

aplanas··on OpenSUSE Linux 12.3 has been released
I have it installed with Win8 and secure boot enable in a Lenovo machine. And in a secure boot enable dell machine without Windows.
