Building the last piece of software at Lovable.dev

I got hooked by coding when I was 14 and have since immersed myself in multiple technologies.

I have worked at CERN, Algorithmic Trading companies and grew Sana Labs (AI Startup) where I was the first employee to 30+ people.

Founded Depict.ai making recommender systems for e-commerce stores taking pride in always beating competition in A/B tests.

gptengineer.app / Lovable | ONSITE+HYBRID | Stockholm / London | Full-Time | Founding Engineers, Founding Designer

Lovable consists of a team of pragmatic previous founders, CTOs, IOI gold medalists, set on being the first to make autonomous code generation work.

This is a hard problem. We believe we can do it by selecting a limited domain, a great AI driven UX and carefully selecting an 'AI-first' tech stack of open-source, that us engineers love to maintain. And optimise our system of fine-tuned LLMs (+LMMs) to do well there.

We believe that rapid experimentation and hiring the brightest and most ambitious minds is the way we make this work. You'd be one of the first employees and have a big impact in shaping our product and company.

In particular, we're looking for: - Founding Designer, who loves understanding the user, technical products, and always think about how products they interact with could be more intuitive - Founding Engineer, joining our team of AI and product engineers building the software that builds other software.

gptengineer.app / Lovable | ONSITE+HYBRID | Stockholm / London | Full-Time | Founding Engineer, Founding Designer, Commercial Lead

Lovable is made up of a team of pragmatic previous (YC) founders and CTOs, set on being the first to make autonomous code generation work.

This is a hard problem. We believe we can do it by selecting a limited domain, allowing humans to take over and crucially – carefully selecting a single 'AI-first' tech stack of open-source tech, that us engineers love to maintain. That we optimise our system of fine-tuned LLMs (+LMMs) to do well in.

We believe that rapid experimentation and hiring the brightest and most ambitious minds is the way we make this work. If you're interested, please apply! You'd be one of the first employees and have a big impact in shaping our product and company.

We're looking for:

- Founding Designer, who loves understanding the user, technical products, and always think about how products they interact with could be more intuitive

- Commercial Lead, who will ideate and execute on our partnerships and commercial efforts

- Founding Engineer, joining our team of product engineers building the software that builds other software.

We played with a few different ones and letting the user decide.

For now the focus is to add more capabilities one pretty industry standard, but “AI first” tech stack.

antonoo··on Bad numbers in the “gzip beats BERT” paper?
My take on this:

Regardless, great work digging into the code, and great work by authors publishing the code.

antonoo··on Show HN: gpt-engineer – platform for devs to tinker with AI programming tools
Not yet. Considered adding it soon, the only reason I decided against — for now — is that for automatic evaluation human edits make it be try difficult!

Fully automatic can be evaluated fully automatically.

Good input.

antonoo··on Show HN: GPT Engineer – platform for devs to tinker with AI programming tools
Definitely.

I think most of us will all be happy and only work out of passion in a few years, and I'm excited to learn new skills:)

antonoo··on Show HN: GPT Engineer – platform for devs to tinker with AI programming tools
We set up the benchmark recently and it does fail on quite a few of the more full stack example prompts we gave it yes.

There are clear remediations though so we want to continue building!

antonoo··on Show HN: GPT Engineer – platform for devs to tinker with AI programming tools
Yeah it's using GPT4 per default – I think it uses ~2k tokens for large projects!
antonoo··on Do we have virtual developers yet?
Would love to hear:

What are virtual developer tooling products being built right now that others think are most promising?

These are the I'm looking forward to thus far:

- magic.dev

- mutable.ai

- sweep.dev

- Copilot X

Depict.ai | Backend, Frontend and Fullstack Engineers | Remote or Stockholm, Sweden

https://depict.ai/ is on a mission to challenge Amazon's domination of e-commerce. We connect customers and retailers over a shared love for great products, by making e-commerce product discovery a breeze from start to finish. We want retailers with the best products, not the largest budgets, to win. We use computer vision and natural language processing to truly understand the product and provide state of the art product recommendations. Founded two years ago, we serve hundreds of millions of requests every month on some of the largest e-commerce sites in Europe and are backed by investors such as Y Combinator, Initialized and EQT Ventures.

With backgrounds ranging from Google, Uber and CERN to self-taught programmers, we are united by our passion for building a great product. We think big but start small when solving problems, delivering value first and iterating rapidly until we have something great.

We're growing rapidly both in terms of revenue and headcount and are always looking for more talent. Find out more and apply on our careers page at https://careers.depict.ai/ or reach out at anton@depict.ai. Some of our tech stack is Python, TypeScript, Kubernetes, and GCP.

antonoo··on Launch HN: Depict.ai (YC S20) – Product recommendations for any e-commerce store
These are some great questions!

1. In order for e-stores to trust the results, we tend to use Google Optimize for the A/B-tests (which randomly assigns 50% of users to see the stores' previous recommendations)

2. Currently our main focus are recommendations on the product page - but we do aim to also add our recommendations in other spaces, where the checkout & landing pages are some clear alternatives! Mostly a bandwidth question at this point.

3. We might open-source parts of it sometime in the future, thought it's not something we're currently considering actively.

4. Not yet! We integrate by injecting a JS widget on their site, through which we also track the user behaviour.

Sounds great - let's follow up on Twitter

antonoo··on Launch HN: Depict.ai (YC S20) – Product recommendations for any e-commerce store
Yes we have seen that simple integration and A/B test setup is key for our customers.

It is both about integrating with the website as well as integrating with the catalog of existing products, and this is right now easier with us than any other provider since we have built tooling for making this very efficient right now.

antonoo··on Launch HN: Depict.ai (YC S20) – Product recommendations for any e-commerce store
In A/B tests we have compared against e-commerce stores existing recommendations which are either manual or made by other recommender systems. We will consider running experiments like the one you describe it is a good idea!
antonoo··on Launch HN: Depict.ai (YC S20) – Product recommendations for any e-commerce store
Up to 35% of Amazon's transactions come from automated recommendations – which they have become really good at optimizing. We help everyone else reach these numbers even though they do not have the same volumes of data or technical expertise as Amazon.

We have a documented API that you can easily integrate directly with if you are more technical!

antonoo··on Launch HN: Depict.ai (YC S20) – Product recommendations for any e-commerce store
We have done A/B tests against AWS Personalize and other players like Nosto, Apptus, and more and to date we have not failed a single A/B test!
