antoaravinth··on Ask HN: Understanding of networks is necessary for Web Developer?
So what all things you think one need to be mandate on networks?
antoaravinth··on What Does the OS X Activity Monitor’s “Energy Impact” Actually Measure?
Novice question, how does using "native" implementation rather than "Flash" reduces the wakeups calls?
antoaravinth··on Ask HN: How to plan your career for an Architect role?
Thanks for your response. Interesting to see how a tool knowledge is mandate for an architect!
antoaravinth··on Ask HN: How to plan your career for an Architect role?
Thanks for your response. So its all about designing the system and reduce the riskness involved in system interactions?

Thanks for your response. I couldn't able to see your email id in your profile. Anyways this is my email id anto.aravinth.cse@gmail.com.Just give a ping, have several questions for you.

antoaravinth··on JVM implementation challenges: Why the future is hard but worth it [pdf]
Thanks for the explanation. Looks like Java has more memory problems:

1. If OOP pointer is going to eat up our memory, there we loose / waste some bits of memory. 2. And as you have said even using bool type, is going to say waste by 7 bits!

Since we are dealing more with objects in java world, then I guess, 32 bit VMs will be much faster than 64 bit VMs. Or even 16bit will be more faster, from my understanding.

Still I have a final question over here, all the OOP pointers does goes the CPU caches and registers?

antoaravinth··on JVM implementation challenges: Why the future is hard but worth it [pdf]
I didn't get them fully. Sorry for novice questions, but wish to understand your statement completely.

>Suppose you are eg storing small integer counts in ints; if it's a java int you are using 4B to store 1B, while if it's a java.lang.Integer it costs 16 bytes plus most likely an 8B pointer.

This wastage does happens only in reference types? Tomorrow say if value types are been created, then these sort of issue will get resolved?

>Another way to consider this is if you are using 8B pointers, you waste a lot of that as constant zeros

Why of constant zeros? And in the line your saying "-- 1TB is 2^40", your referring 1TB of cache line?

antoaravinth··on Show HN: Run SSH and HTTP(S) on the same port
Oh ok. Now I understood, thanks.
antoaravinth··on Debug your programs like they're closed source
Even though I havent followed the above idea ( I will try to do in sometime ), I have followed this way, which have helped me a lot.

I used to make guess when I debug my day to day problem. Say for example, when I run selenium, and the browser doesn't open up:

1. Does the jar is valid? 2. Safari has selenium plugin? 3. Have custom installation rather than default installation location?

Then the smart you make the guess, the smart you can solve the problem.

Its about removing the un-wanted space ( by making smart guess ) and debugging the right space.

antoaravinth··on The Benefits of a Lunch Hour Walk
The point :

> A chance for the eyes to change focal range from the fixed distance of the shitty monitors work provides.

is followed by me daily. I have a cute nice wallpaper hanging behind my pc. Every say 10 minute, I change my vision to point to the wall-paper from regular pc vision.

After following this, I haven't faced any eye stress. Really helped me.

Anyone follows over here?

antoaravinth··on Show HN: Run SSH and HTTP(S) on the same port
I'm still being not clear of what you mean by:

>with SSH, the server will send a version string upon connection (and expects the client to do the same).

Say for example if I do:

   ssh some.machine.com
I'm (being the client ) call the ssh port ( server ) running on the some.machine.com, right? If thats the case, client is who starting the conversation right?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

antoaravinth··on Show HN: Run SSH and HTTP(S) on the same port
What do you mean by:

first message for ssl comes from client but for ssh first message comes from server
antoaravinth··on Show HN: Run SSH and HTTP(S) on the same port
Ya I guess this is the way that they would have implemented.
antoaravinth··on Show HN: Run SSH and HTTP(S) on the same port
A simple question. How come two programs can run on the same port? How does this being implemented?
antoaravinth··on Battery life: Apple's solving for x
This is interesting, do you have any resource on this topic?

I wonder how a phone with dual sim can handle battery life? Thats totally an interesting problem to solve. I use micromax which is a dual sim and the battery life is pretty good, last for a day.

antoaravinth··on Ask HN: 32 OR 64 BIT for the JVM?
> but I don't regard that as evidence of the superiority of 64-bit, rather I regard that as a failing of the x86 architecture.

Can you say me why that is the case?

antoaravinth··on Monoids, Functors, Applicatives, and Monads: Main Ideas
What about monads in terms of JS over here:

https://blog.jcoglan.com/2011/03/05/translation-from-haskell...

antoaravinth··on Monoids, Functors, Applicatives, and Monads: Main Ideas
To be honest, I have tough time reading Haskell code or even laws.

I understood the mondas in terms of javascript, as it is written over here: https://blog.jcoglan.com/2011/03/05/translation-from-haskell...

antoaravinth··on Monoids, Functors, Applicatives, and Monads: Main Ideas
Im not getting the idea of monads here. From my understanding monads does series of transformation( composition, unit , lift ) of a function to do its task. So does monad is similar to Adapter pattern in java? which does make two classes work even though they aren't meant to work.

Because it does transform the class/ interface to work with other class, right?

Am I missing anything here?

antoaravinth··on Ask HN: Idea of building music player depends on your mood
> I think people have different moods for similar activities

     I totally agree with you.
> Nevertheless, it would be kinda interesting to see how you get the mood of a website.

Ya analysing the mood of the HN site is very difficult one. I thought of using lib like NP that are available in Python.

Something like this: http://text-processing.com/demo/sentiment/

But I have never tried them.

antoaravinth··on Ask HN: How to use small chunks of time productively
I have found this works often in my day to day life. I will be get struck at one thing and when I about to drop a mail, and I write the detail explanation about the problem, I get the answer.

Nice to know this is called as "Rubber Ducking"
