antihipocrat··on Average is all you need
You don't, and if businesses start using vibed reports for regulated reporting then I guess we'll see soon what the courts say about that
antihipocrat··on Steam on Linux Use Skyrocketed Above 5% in March
There's a tipping point and we may be getting close. A few of my friends' kids & nephews have recently switched. Now that Valve seems to have solved the gaming compatibility issue, what Windows only software is left for teenagers to use that OS?
antihipocrat··on Microsoft: Copilot is for entertainment purposes only
When the construction worker messes up a job that then causes injury or damages the property they absolutely get sued. The state can even get involved if the mistake is deemed criminal negligence.

In your example the owners will often take the construction company or small business owner to court. Most trades people negotiate and redo the work for free or much reduced cost to avoid this.

In office settings if you expose PII you will likely be fired.

antihipocrat··on OpenCiv1 – open-source rewrite of Civ1
I considered Alpha Centauri as the sequel, both in the continuation of Civ 1s final goal and the expanded gameplay.
antihipocrat··on Polymarket gamblers threaten to kill me over Iran missile story
He described a natural process, he didn't invent it.

The invisible hand in markets is a natural property with an effect that's dependent on the environment the market operates within. He may be the first person to describe the process in writing (that we know of), but human beings have been experiencing the effects of this since we first attempted to trade with one another.

antihipocrat··on Grief and the AI split
I think differences in the business determine whether the maintenance/understanding aspect is important. If developing an MVP for a pitch or testing markets then any negatives aren't much of a consideration.. if working in a mature competitive or highly regulated domain then yeah, it's important
antihipocrat··on An AI agent published a hit piece on me
I don't know if biometrics can solve this either.. identify fraud applied to running malicious AI (in addition to taking out fraudulent loans) will become another problem for victims to worry about
antihipocrat··on I hate GitHub Actions with passion
That's a great point. If we keep following the requirement for attestation to its logical conclusion we would end up replicating the entire server running the repository at the source, then the cycle repeats
antihipocrat··on Side-by-side comparison of how AI models answer moral dilemmas
No race is a homogenous group equally benefiting and suffering from historical and societal privilege and disadvantage.

A large proportion of the majority ethnicity in the U.S live in and suffer from generational poverty. As an absolute number it would far exceed the number of people suffering the same from minority ethnicities. If it weren't for other influences strongly promoting awareness of non-economic differences, I'd like to think (perhaps naively?) that these groups of people would find strong commonalities with one another and organize activities as a united front to change their circumstances.

antihipocrat··on AI is a business model stress test
If the entities democratizing access weren't companies worth hundreds of billions of dollars with a requirement to prioritize substantial returns for their investors, I'd agree with you!
antihipocrat··on AI is a business model stress test
Humans are punished for plagiarism all the time. Myriad examples exist of students being disenrolled from college, professionals being fired, and personal reputations tarnished forever.

When a LLM is trained on copyright works and regurgitates these works verbatim without consent or compensation, and then sells the result for profit, there is currently no negative impact for the company selling the LLM service.

antihipocrat··on AI coding assistants are getting worse?
Responses are always to check your prompts, and ensure you are using frontier models - along with a warning about how you will quickly be made redundant if you don't lift your game.

AI is generally useful, and very useful for certain tasks. It's also not initiating the singularity.

antihipocrat··on I canceled my book deal
Why buy the book when big AI can add it to their training data. Multitudes of people can then enjoy slightly higher quality output without you being compensated a single cent.
antihipocrat··on Italian bears living near villages have evolved to be smaller and less agressive
Wheat, barley and similar plant life have done pretty well for themselves, perhaps they domesticated us?
antihipocrat··on Go ahead, self-host Postgres
In my experience it only ends well on the Internet and with philosophically inclined friends.
antihipocrat··on Reflections on AI at the End of 2025
I like to think of it as adding new lanes to a highway. More will be delivered until it all jams up again.
antihipocrat··on Analysis indicates that the universe’s expansion is not accelerating
You may appreciate this idea: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conformal_cyclic_cosmology
antihipocrat··on Claude Memory
Isn't the saved state still being sent as part of the prompt context with every prompt? The high token count is financially beneficial to the LLM vendor no matter where it's stored.
antihipocrat··on UK Petition: Do not introduce Digital ID cards
Governments change. Any group in society has the potential to become marginalized, and if all services are funneled through a single system it becomes very easy to selectively switch off access.
antihipocrat··on The AI coding trap
In my experience this approach is kicking the can down the road. Tech debt isn't paid down, it's being added to, and at some point in the future it will need to be collected.

When the agent can't kick the can any more who is going to be held responsible? If it is going to be me then I'd prefer to have spent the hours understanding the code.

antihipocrat··on Egyptian Hieroglyphic Alphabet (2015)
School left me with the impression that hieroglyphs were primitive constructs - purely logographic and ideographic. It was a shock to later learn that they are also alphabetic and phonetic.

The opportunities for creative expression are amazing in such a system

antihipocrat··on OpenAI and Nvidia announce partnership to deploy 10GW of Nvidia systems
Yes, in a very local context it appears so, but net entropy across the system from life's activities is increased
antihipocrat··on LaLiga's Anti-Piracy Crackdown Triggers Widespread Internet Disruptions in Spain
Come on.. anything of interest can be reduced to a few absurd actions absent of any context.

For example. I don't understand how: - moving pieces of wood around a board can have mass appeal - Smearing colored paint on material can have mass appeal - Smashing sticks against covered buckets can have mass appeal

antihipocrat··on An illustrated guide to OAuth
Those articles are just using the same examples (often verbatim) from the official docs. It's obvious that the authors haven't actually developed anything themselves.

There may be a lot of quality material out there, and it's just hidden under the mountain of low effort scraped, copied & AI content

antihipocrat··on AI vs. Professional Authors Results
Who's voice are you using when adding your hand crafted prose? Mimicking the style of the 80% or switching to your own?

Perhaps I'm a Luddite, or just in the dissonance phase toward enlightenment, but at the moment I don't want to invest in AI fiction. A big part of the experience for me is understanding the author's mind, not just the story being told

antihipocrat··on Sunny days are warm: why LinkedIn rewards mediocrity
There is no benefit to be gained from disagreement or debate. Any such discourse looks problematic to a potential employer.
antihipocrat··on Why LLMs can't really build software
..."(at least for now) you are in the drivers seat, and the LLM is just another tool to reach for."

Improvements in model performance seem to be approaching the peak rather than demonstrating exponential gains. Is the quote above where we land in the end?

antihipocrat··on Is Chain-of-Thought Reasoning of LLMs a Mirage? A Data Distribution Lens
I'm not sure why duplicates were ever considered an issue. For certain subjects (like JS) things evolved so quickly during the height of SO that even a year old answer was outdated.

That and search engines seemed to promote more recent content.. so an old answer sank under the ocean of blog spam

antihipocrat··on Nobody knows how to build with AI yet
I assume it's after tax too..
antihipocrat··on The librarian immediately attempts to sell you a vuvuzela
If I watch a movie, then draw a near perfect likeness of the main character from my very good memory, put it on a tshirt and sell the t-shirt. That is grounds for violation of copyright if the source isn't yet in the public domain (not guaranteed but open to a lawsuit).

If I download all content from a website that has a use policy stating that all content is owned by that website and can't be resold. Then allow my users to query this downloaded data and receive a detailed summary of all related content, and sell that product. Perhaps this is a violation of the use policy.

All of this hasn't been properly tested in the courts yet.. large payments have already been made to Reddit to avoid this, likely because Reddit has the means to fight this in court.. my little blog though, fair game because I can't afford to engage.
