anonymousisme··on Apple's apps bypass firewalls like LittleSnitch and LuLu on macOS Big Sur
Of course. I knew what I meant, but used the wrong word.

I don't see how pi-hole get affected by DNS via https, unless you are leaving out the part about computers, tablets, and phones using hard-coded DNS servers that use DNS via https. This is a trend, but a very small one right now.
anonymousisme··on We Hacked Apple for 3 Months
There are defense contractors that do exactly this. Governments pay more than Apple will ever pay, so if you are in it for the money (and don't care about the ethical repercussions), selling the discovered exploits to governments is the way to go.
anonymousisme··on DOS Subsystem for Linux
I love this! It exemplifies the absurdity of making Linux a subsystem of Windows (a far less powerful OS) by doing the same thing with DOS!
anonymousisme··on Unusual Features of SARS-CoV-2 Suggesting Sophisticated Laboratory Modification
This paper seems credible, and there is a lot of other evidence showing that the CCP/PLA was doing genetic modification on coronaviri. So if we assume that the paper is correct, we must next consider whether or not the SARS-Cov2 virus was accidentally or deliberately released. If the release was accidental, the PRC has taken extreme measures to create disinformation and hide the truth. They didn't do that the last time they had a similar accident. If I go any further with this line of reasoning, others will likely call me a conspiracy theorist, so I will stop now.
anonymousisme··on Dear Apple: Your Services Are No Longer Required
Interesting that this other article on his blog says he left Apple voluntarily: https://lowendmac.com/2020/52259/

"After all this time, I cannot wait to see the back of Apple. I ditched iOS a few years back and it was the best decision I ever made, now leaving Apple is going to be the second best decision. I no longer want anything to do with them.

My Mac is up for sale and I will be closing my Apple ID.

After hundreds of articles and over 10 years of writing for LowEndMac, this is my final article. This is me signing off."

anonymousisme··on A 35-year-old bug in Patch found in efforts to restore 29-year-old BSD
Never saw the spider, but I do remember "xroach", in which roaches would scatter from underneath where a window was after being closed.

Great fun from about 25-30 years ago.

EDIT: It looks like xroach still lives! https://www.freshports.org/games/xroach/

anonymousisme··on A Google Cloud support engineer solves a tough DNS case
Also, it was very nice of Google to follow up and submit the patch to LKML. IMHO this goes beyond the scope of their role. They could have taken a more selfish approach and accepted the bug as "normal" behavior, and advised their customer to not configure the buffer to such an enormous size.
anonymousisme··on A Climate Blacklist That Works: “It Should Make Her Unhirable in Academia”
I don't expect this one to last long on ycombinator. Some "right thinking" mod will kill it quickly.
anonymousisme··on I am no longer able to use Google with Lynx
Sounds like an ADA lawsuit is in the works...
anonymousisme··on My application ran away and called home from Redmond
It would be a fun experiment to create a network probe executable that exfiltrates results back to you, and then push it to Microsoft in this way. I wonder how secure their test environment could be if it has Internet access...
anonymousisme··on External Debt of Haiti
Haiti could easily repay all of this in full if the Clinton Foundation would cut loose the funds it collected on the nation's behalf after the 2010 earthquake.
anonymousisme··on RSA is a fragile cryptosystem
Good comment, but I couldn't help notice that you got the date (6/6/1944 != 6/4/1943) wrong for Operation Neptune/Overlord: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Overlord
anonymousisme··on Deep packet inspection is dead, and here's why (2017)
It's not dead. Encryption has (unjustifiably) pushed the enterprise to install fake catchall certificates on proxies so they can snoop plain-text traffic. (Why anyone would ever think this is a good idea is beyond me.)
anonymousisme··on A tale of 132 e's
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that 132 characters was the most you could print on a single line of a line-printer back before laser printers were invented...
anonymousisme··on A tale of 132 e's
Many people may not know that in the olden days, a disk was formatted with all bytes in all sectors set to hexadecimal E5 (11100101). When dumped, or looked at with a hex/ASCII editor, the E5 was displayed as 'e' because nobody cared about extended ASCII back then (and Unicode did not yet exist). So to me, a Github repo name with all 'e's is a pretty cool thing.
anonymousisme··on The Cube Rule of Food Identification (2017)
Let the flame wars begin!
anonymousisme··on October 21 post-incident analysis
Just five days before Microsoft completed the GitHub acquisition so they had to lower their QoS to meet the expectations of everyone using Azure...
