aniro··on Facebook forces all users over to Facebook.com e-mail addresses
My point was not to equate the murderous behavior. I see that you might find such a comparison distressing.

Facebook is circling the wagons on its user base. I see no one this benefits other than Facebook itself.

While promoting effortless and frictionless sharing of every last minute detail of daily life and thought within the Facebook "family", they are now very actively creating massive amounts of friction in order to prevent people from sharing with the same people anywhere else.

They are closing the exits in a defensive move to prevent people from leaving.

This is not good social behavior. This is what cults and psychopaths do in order to exert control.

This looks like the behavior of an entity with mal intent.

The Manson Family. Note that "family".

A controlling psychopath or cult requires cutting off access to outside resources, preempting a possible escape path.

No different.

I cant wait until someone integrates this with their dating site.

Though for clarity we may need a HAD button as well.

aniro··on I’m So, So Sorry. Here’s My Belly. Now Please Move On.
You are welcome to do with your privacy whatever you damn well please. It is yours.

When someone else decides what to do with it without bothering to ask for permission, it is called an "invasion of privacy." For many people this is a bad thing. Bad enough that there are very severe legal repercussions for it dependent upon the jurisdiction and severity.

I am getting really tired of the argument that the facebook lot are being "brave" on my behalf. Or that "privacy is dead" like it was a fad to be discarded when the taste went sour.

Privacy is a right and it is to be abrogated with explicit consent only. While it is a right that is often abrogated by the actions of its possessor (wittingly or no), that is their option and choice. It is not for anyone else to decide.

aniro··on Path uploads your entire iPhone address book to its servers
This is a patently absurd notion.

I haven't heard an assertion so patently foolish and I'll considered since the Path CEO claimed that uploading every users "little black book" onto the Path servers without permission or notification was an "industry standard best practice."

What a bunch of hogwash.

response from a friend of mine:

"I would like to be able to run an antivirus style application on FB that identifies relationships that are a threat to my credit profile, career prospects, and caste. I want to know who to ditch."
