aniketpant··on Interface Design with a Homeless person
I really enjoyed the encounter.

It really makes one think about so many things. Who would have thought that a homeless guy would know about Square and even after that, you would be in a conversation with him about interface design.

If that guy has a good understanding of design by chance, I really think that he can actually do well in the industry :) [Just a thought]

aniketpant··on Coding Horror: The PHP Singularity
I am damn tired of his takes on PHP. It's damn pissing off to see the kind of points he puts in his posts.

I don't even get the part where he says that we need to come up with better solutions. So, if we want better solutions when are they going to arrive. It's not like that the solutions are getting baked in some oven or something.

We have new solutions that we can use. We may even call them better, but I don't think that I will quit a language just for the fun of using something new.

PHP might be st, it might even break at times, but there are some wonderful frameworks which have come up lately. Laravel is one of them and a number of developers are contributing to the code. One cannot just ignore the fact that so many people have gone mad and not even a single one of them actually felt the need to quit PHP forever and build a new language that is better than it.

aniketpant··on Play Tetris in a favicon
This is damn insane. Cool stuff.
aniketpant··on Ask HN : Which PHP Framework to prefer?
I personally love CI. It's easy to use and very flexible.

I have used Cake PHP and Yii too. But they are not that modular and flexible when it comes to CI.

aniketpant··on Pragmatic, practical font sizing in CSS
So classes mean only one thing to us. They are used "just for styling". We use them only for our convenience and that's it.

Pretty cool then :)

aniketpant··on Pragmatic, practical font sizing in CSS
You are very correct when you say that but I have been opposed a lot of times for trying to use classes like .small, .medium and .big for font sizes.

I understand that they take the meaning away from standard elements but I feel that classes give more meaning to an element.

p.small and p.big are all the way more logical than styling them according to the container that encloses them.

aniketpant··on Pragmatic, practical font sizing in CSS
I wonder why people don't discuss posts on CSS but I am surely going to.

I am totally in for the alpha notations as I feel more comfortable with it. Plus its semantic.

aniketpant··on Show HN: Themes for Bootstrap
Really don't get the point.

Bootstrap is open source. Most of these themes would be paid. (not good for me)

Don't have much in support of my point, but I would not use this service unless some really _amazing_ designs are put up.

aniketpant··on Ask HN: Who's looking for employment?
I'm Aniket Pant and I am looking for some Codeigniter related development work. I live in Goa but I would be ready for remote work.
aniketpant··on Impress.js - a Prezi like implementation using CSS3 3D transformations
This is just brilliant!

I actually don't have any words to say now :D

Love the work man.

aniketpant··on Poll: Would you like a "Panic button" service to lock down your online accounts?
Trust will play a major role over here. But a service of this sort would a great thing.

Very much required in times like these.

aniketpant··on The Bones of HTML5
It's a great framework to build upon!

You should try it.

aniketpant··on HTML5 Semantics and Good Coding Practices
I did forget to include <time> Will write on it in my next post.

<figure> is a great addition for sure. Helps in improvising a lot of previous codes!

aniketpant··on HTML5 Semantics and Good Coding Practices
I'm really sorry, but I am not aware of RDFa attributes?
aniketpant··on HTML5 Semantics and Good Coding Practices
I guess we are on the same line over here!

Using these small terminologies will help us create a semantic web and help in understanding things better.

aniketpant··on HTML5 Semantics and Good Coding Practices
The reason for using the "fancy" new elements is quite clear! It makes the code more readable and easy to understand.

And as for the part where we "might" break the page in old browsers. I would like to pose a questions.

"Aren't we all working towards a developed future?"

aniketpant··on HTML5 Semantics and Good Coding Practices
Very true :)

I agree to your points. I guess that my post was a little ambiguous and a little biased.

I liked the old way of coding, but HTML5 brought order.

And for the part where the id's have helped in giving rise to header, footer, nav and article. Yes, I do agree to all of it.

Thank you for your comments. Helped my understand my writing.

aniketpant··on HTML5 Semantics and Good Coding Practices
It was just an example I made up.

Yes there are better ways to use <meter>. Maybe for showing the average rainfall in an area!

And the reason for dismissing the techniques in the past is because I have shifted to using HTML5. Even the theme I am using for my website, uses HTML5.

aniketpant··on Gmail’s new look
I love the new UI. The conversation view and the way the content flows together. It's just brilliant.

Only one complaint, I want to have a more loose display than the current one, I want 'Cozy' rather than 'Compact' regardless of my screen size. I should be able to change that somewhere.

aniketpant··on Ask HN: Is it okay to build a startup in ASP .NET?
I am not a very highly qualified individual as I am doing my undergraduate. But this summer, I had the opportunity to work with a company which solely works on ASP .NET

I thought that it is a Microsoft Technology and won't be that good to work with.

But in a week or so, I understood, why it is called the framework for Rapid Development. It really speeds up work.

It is true that the cost would be higher as the number of programmers in this field is small compared to the rest.

My Point of View

----------------

1. It was a good time developing in ASP .NET

2. There were not many restrictions except for site deployment.

3. There is lots to learn in it

4. MOST IMPORTANT: It is for Rapid Development

aniketpant··on Ask HN: What music do you listen to at work?
I would be different from the rest. I play rock when I am passing time, but when it comes to hardcore coding, my background music is Metalcore.

It gives me a kick and my work speeds up :P

aniketpant··on Ask HN: Do you contribute to open source projects with your real name?
I use my name everywhere I can. Never had the need to not use it :)

After all, my work is me.

aniketpant··on Which password storing technique better?
Asked on Stock Overflow too ...

Will be using bcrypt :)

aniketpant··on Ask HN: Does it matter to be a Computer Sc. student to enter the industry?
Well, this is true, but doesn't passion come first. I know so many coders who did their engineering in arts or commerce or are chemical engineers.

And from all of them, I have learnt one thing, to never give up what you love the most :)

aniketpant··on Ask HN: Does it matter to be a Computer Sc. student to enter the industry?
I am currently a web developer but doing my Mechanical Engineering.
aniketpant··on Ask HN: How do I get my girlfriend to see the beauty of computer science?
Totally agree with this.

It's true. My girlfriend is into arts too. She never understood my work but when I showed her paper.js and some other awesome scripts, she got to know the beauty of it :D
