ETA: if someone created a virus that would just display the text "you've been hacked!" and then that virus infected thousands of computers around the world, that someone would have a visit from the FBI with very serious charges. I don't see how this is different.
Because the well said "free water". And in some cases it's not even them taking water from that well, but other people who they asked to bring them tea (third party libraries).

Do you really dig through the internet history of every maintainer of every package you ever used?
(see the "never touch anything animal related for whatever reason" crowd but who then go on and drink gallons of cashew milk from farms of abused workers)
1) you can decide to use other browsers besides Firefox if some sites don't work on it, but on iOS you can't use anything else (every browser still uses safari under the hood)
2) you can still use "chrome apis" even if you don't use chrome. More and more browsers use chrome's engine (see: Opera, Edge, Vivaldi etc.) and while I am not happy with that, it is becoming more and more commonplace.
So far I'm limiting myself to basic types and iterfaces because I can't really wrap my mind around more complex stuff.
Or is it just that the parts of soy that we can't eat (stalk, leaves, husks, discarded beans after processing into tofu/milk/etc.) that comprise 80% of the plant, while the rest we consume ourselves?
I haven't seen any info that clearly states "this land is exclusively used to plant x squared miles of grain that will be only fed to livestock".
Also, from your link, it is clear that livestock AND fisheries produce 31% of the agricultural greenhouse gasses, while crops produce 27%, so not that big a difference.
“Any sufficiently complicated concurrent program in another language contains an ad hoc informally-specified bug-ridden slow implementation of half of Erlang.”
That is, while other languages and systems barely scratched the surface in terms of distributed programming, Erlang was perfecting all the models needed for it, because that's what it was built for. So everyone else is now playing catch-up with Erlang.
Maybe Chris and Jose are more efficient? Maybe the Elixir/LiveView code is just better written and doesn't need rewrites?
Why do so many people glorify quantity over quality?
You don't have to use it if you don't want to.

There's a guy in their forums saying two years ago that "iPhone usage will drop to mac level usage (~8%)"[1], which is laughable.
