angryasian··on The Reason the Office Isn't Fun Anymore
Anyone that has had to work in a global corporation and had actually collaborate knows this is always how its been.

Even before the pandemic more than half my meetings were on zoom. Now at least I can do it from home.

angryasian··on Why Would I Buy This Useless, Evil Thing?
Yeah nothing of substance here. I will say that theres nothing with Rabbit that I see impresses me that I can't already do with Google voice assistant.
angryasian··on Rabbit: LLM-First Mobile Phone
Its interesting but not all apps or services offer integrations. You still have a problem with oauth and logging in.
angryasian··on Rabbit: LLM-First Mobile Phone
actually agent frameworks are becoming very popular now

angryasian··on Google Voice goes US only
I've been a user since grand central and held on to my same number since. At a time when carriers were still competitive, it was great for switching to whatever company were offering the best incentives and not having to worry about telling everyone your new number. Porting numbers sort of resolved this, but I still don't have to worry about it since I only use my GV number.

GV provided online text messages and voice mail before everyone else. GV also allows you to add multiple lines to the same number. At one point I lost my phone and was still able to receive and make calls from the web and my SO's phone.

Its used for a lot more

angryasian··on Post-affirmative action,Asian Americans are stressed about college admissions
I hate that the largest continent in the world is always bundled as one large super ehtnicity.

This is the first problem in trying to fix the issue.

Second no one knows what they want during the admissions process and is the sole issue. Transparency in the process is what people should be demanding.

angryasian··on Pika 1.0, the idea-to-video platform that brings your creativity to life
I'm interested in how this is better / worse that runway

angryasian··on We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam to return to OpenAI as CEO
we still don't know what Altman has actually been hiding, so to say it was ridiculous ... is ridiculous itself.
angryasian··on OpenAI's board has fired Sam Altman
Could world coin be a part of this ? Its weird he'd use open AI for world coin?
angryasian··on A game about staring into the eyes of a stranger
site worked fine for me, but Im curious as to why 7 seconds without blinking and what significance of that is ?
angryasian··on Americans are confused, frustrated by new tipping culture, study finds
In Los Angeles servers are minimum wage which is like $17 an hour plus tips. A & B is best
angryasian··on Steam Deck OLED
As a Ally user, still not enough to get me to switch but I love the competition that Steam ignited with the handheld PC gaming market. Ally, Legion Go, Steamdeck, Ayaneo Kun, etc. A lot of great devices on the market.

I've played more PC games now than I have in the last 10 years.

angryasian··on Steam Deck OLED
>I just want official word that the drivers and everything still work on Windows.

I thought steam deck doesn't run windows ? You install windows on your steam deck ?

angryasian··on RIAA Reports AI Vocal Cloning Site 'Voicify' to the U.S. Government
>If a random singer can duplicate the sound of a popular singer it's one thing; to use a process to clone the voice of that singer from the singer's own recordings is a theft of that person's unique talent.

in the end the outcome is the same and happens all the time in the industry. When a voice actor portraying another character for an animated series, the original actor doesn't get compensated. Cloned or exactly duplicated is indistinguishable to the outcome.

>Same principle as if I took a paparazzi photo of a celebrity and sold it as portraits due to the fame of that person and for legitimate news purposes.

Not sure I understand this. paparazzi takes photo and sells photos ? whats the issue ?

angryasian··on RIAA Reports AI Vocal Cloning Site 'Voicify' to the U.S. Government
corporations weaponinzing the government to hold back progress. nothing new here.
angryasian··on Show HN: Classic Video Poker
Great game ! Best of luck on your goals.
angryasian··on An Introduction to LiteStack for Ruby on Rails
thats interesting I thought it would be faster than your avg database. I'll have to dig into it.
angryasian··on An Introduction to LiteStack for Ruby on Rails
thanks, yeah I haven't dug deep enought to understand what those would be yet.
angryasian··on An Introduction to LiteStack for Ruby on Rails
It says people are using sqlite for production. How big can you grow your database before it becomes a problem ?
angryasian··on I'm convinced now that “personal LLMs” are going to be a huge thing
same we had chatbots and voice search for years. Even currently there was the lawyer and open ai made up complete nonsense and that doesn't appear unique to just that instance. We're still required to validate information.

I have used it to help write some documents and get ideas, but I feel like there should be more than help writing some text.

angryasian··on Google Maps has become significantly less usable of late
Whats the issue ? Its information dense because he has every option turned on. Turn off traffic overlay and you'd get a single blue line of the directions.
angryasian··on TikTok account is using facial recognition to dox random people
If you're going to put that much information out in public, isn't it somewhat expected that your information could easily be found.
angryasian··on Disney’s Taylor Swift Era
This is the most convulated article, in trying to connect that two iconic brands real value is in real life experiences.
angryasian··on Web3 Is Going Just Great
- Brave ads don't track users and violate their privacy.

Yes ad tracking and personalization can be disabled as well through google.

- Users can earn BAT by viewing ads, which they can then use to support their favorite sites directly.

Any ad supported site, you're already supporting by visiting. You can argue its additional but its still supported on visit and display of ads.

- If you fund your BAT wallet externally, you can disable ads altogether while still supporting the sites you visit.

This is fundamentally false. A creator first has to know about it and then sign up and etc.

> opens the door to further discussion.

So you agree.

>Besides, there are stores and entire marketplaces where only crypto is exchanged.

Where can I pay bills with crypto ?

I expect better from forums like this.

angryasian··on Web3 Is Going Just Great
>Brave's BAT is the best alternative web business model that gets rid of the advertising middleman plaguing the modern web

I don't understand Brave just goes out and signs their own advertising deals. Essentially like using Chrome and using a google site. Google could do this too but would be a nightmare.

>Blockchains are a great fit for storing DNS, identity and certificate records.

As with the other comment, sure you could do it with blockchain but theres often better solutions.

> middleman transfer fees (Western Union, etc.).

The fundamental problem is people still have to deal with fiat money. that conversion always carries a fee.

angryasian··on Tell HN: Stripe killed my music locker service, so I'm open sourcing it
>inter.tube will likely die

TBH the first sign of adversity and you're already looking to call it quits. Its not a real big selling point

angryasian··on Reddit App – Suspicious high number of recent 5 star, one word reviews
DONT USE THEIR APP!!!

They've purposely remove i.reddit and reddit.compat first to not provide a proper mobile web experience.

then they cut off their api's to mobile developers.

Don't reward their deplorable behavior

angryasian··on Reddit is OpenAI’s moat
Reddit shut down their api for one reason IPO has to show growth and the only growth left for reddit is *FORCING* users to their own app.

They shut down i.reddit and reddit.compact so theres no optimized mobile web format.

Now they shut down api access to apps. Its as clear as day. I don't think they give a sh*t about AI
