andhuman··on Greenland is a beautiful nightmare
The bit about the dog was a good memento mori. You work hard almost your entire life… and then your body gets tossed over the wall.
andhuman··on Suno Studio, a Generative AI DAW
What genre do you like? I have one but it’s pop. https://suno.com/s/rAz8rUfVst4pw1S5
andhuman··on Suno Studio, a Generative AI DAW
Suno does have the cover feature, where you can upload your own playing, say playing a simple melody on a guitar, and it will take that and create a song from it, together with lyrics you wrote. So it can be fairly fulfilling. What it doesn’t allow you is full control of the composition. But that’s AI.

V5 could be built different, and it will take a few revisions until they match v4 “creativity” for lack of a better word. What v5 brings is quality in the recording. Less AI shimmering in the background. But yes, I agree the songs are more… flat.

Well, you need a spouse.
andhuman··on What brain surgery taught me about the fragile gift of consciousness
When I got to the third hum, I got suspicious, which is sad for this kind of beautiful experience.

Could you do a video about latent heat?
andhuman··on Show HN: Omnara – Run Claude Code from anywhere
Cool demo! The first thing that sprung to mind after seeing it, was an image of a busy office floor filled with people talking into their headsets, not selling or buying stocks, but actually programming. If it’s a blessed or cursed image I’ll let you decide.
andhuman··on GPT-5 for Developers
Is this because it’s now a Moe? They now match price with Gemini 2.5 Pro, which is also a moe.
andhuman··on Genie 3: A new frontier for world models
Now this could be the killer app VR's been looking for.

No it’s by token. The FAQ says this:

> Actual number of messages per day depends on token usage per request. Estimates based on average requests of ~8k tokens each for a median user.

andhuman··on Fighting Brandolini's Law with Sampling
The graph is from 2007 onwards. So it doesn’t include when he was president.
andhuman··on I'm done with social media – Or: why I have a blog now
Well, isn’t this a ”build it and they will come” situation? Do what you feel is right and that will communicate to others around you that there’s an alternative.
andhuman··on Writing toy software is a joy
In the past we used to copy code verbatim from magazines. You have to start somewhere right?
andhuman··on How I Program with Agents
Yes, the eureka moment with LLMs is when they started outputting the things I was beginning to type. Not just words but sentences, whole functions and even unit tests. The result is the same as I would have typed it, just a lot faster.
andhuman··on The Deathbed Fallacy (2018)
I don’t agree with this. Too many of us rush around without stopping to think what makes us happy. At least it’s true for me. Being with friends _does_ make you happy. But for some reason it’s hard to find the time for it. In the end it seems we realize that we down prioritized things we shouldn’t have.
andhuman··on Everything we announced at our first LlamaCon
I had higher expectations of this. I was hoping they would release an Omni type model that could handle voice input and output voice. Oh well.
andhuman··on Abusing DuckDB-WASM by making SQL draw 3D graphics (Sort Of)
100% organic!
andhuman··on LLM-powered tools amplify developer capabilities rather than replacing them
For me it’s too easy to go too fast with an LLM helping you. You got to rein it in and do actual PR reviews so you can keep up with what the LLM is doing. That way when you inevitably need to dive down and handle the code, you’re ready to do so.

Have you tried Mistral Small 24b?
andhuman··on Reality has a surprising amount of detail (2017)
For me meditation makes me better at, let’s call it meta-thinking. Being aware of what I’m thinking, instead of just thinking.
andhuman··on YouTube's New Hue
I watched the Steve Jobs interview when he described Windows as pedestrian. This blog can be described as ”high browery”.
andhuman··on Avoiding outrage fatigue while staying informed
Have you tried giving meditation a try? I have no idea if it helps for OCD, but for me it gives space around all the thoughts that’s floating around in my head. That space gives me a bit more freedom to select which thoughts to listen to.
andhuman··on Why Tracebit is written in C#
I’ve worked with ASP.net many years and it mostly gets out of your way. I feel very productive with it.
andhuman··on Lead and cadmium found in muscle-building protein powders, report says
Important to note is that when arsenic is in rice, a lot of it is organic arsenic and therefore not easily picked up by the body like inorganic arsenic.
andhuman··on Phi 4 available on Ollama
I’ve seen on the localllama subreddit that some GGUFs have bugs in them. The one recommended was by unsloth. However, I don’t know how the Ollama GGUF holds up.

andhuman··on The trap of "I am not an extrovert"
I’m not good with words, but I’m good at thinking. That leads me to listen more than I talk during gatherings. To listen is to concentrate, doubly so for crowded events. You need to think about what the person is saying, and you need to filter out the noise around you. No, try to talk instead of listen and see how that feels. Change the equation. Let others come up with good responses to your ramblings for once. Of course, this can feel a bit egotistic. The other way around it is to stop caring that much what the other person is saying. We're all here talking shit. At the end of the day, what matters is if you were seen, if the other person felt seen and validated. That's what's great about talking to another person. You got seen by an animal that can understand you the most: humans.
andhuman··on Tell HN: Burnout is bad to your brain, take care
Not OP, but for me what helped the most is the samadi / shamatha meditation where you go into this calm abiding mode. You are calm but alert with the whole body energized. This is a enjoyable state to be in, sometimes _very_ enjoyable. I listened to the guided meditations from the Alan Wallace retreat as well as a guided meditation retreat from Rob Burbea.
andhuman··on Claude 3.5 Sonnet
Mine too! And I didn’t even get to use it once. I’ve filled in the form, let’s see if they lift the ban.
