anatari··on Mashable crushed us - here's how we bounced back
Yea I agree. From what I can tell from the blog post, they aren't even close to the limits of what mySQL can handle if properly configured unless they are running it on some kind of super tiny virtual machine. Seems like they just jumped the gun and over engineered it.
anatari··on How Democrats, Republicans compare
Not that I disagree with the conclusion of the article, but I bet you can come up with an equally impressive set of stats showing the Republican party coming out ahead. If the article wasn't so one sided it would have been stronger.
anatari··on Is it Now Acceptable to Require JavaScript?
Yes. It's like asking if it's ok to require CSS 5-10 years ago. Javascript is pretty ubiquitous and consistent (even in mobile browsers now). The web has moved on and so should you.
anatari··on Is java dead for startups?
Yeah, never heard of it until now. If I ever venture out into Java land again, I'll have to give it a better look. How does it compare to Grails?
anatari··on Is java dead for startups?
If you're a web shop, IMO, none of the Java web frameworks are ideal for the fast prototyping that most startups need to do on a regular basis. I've hated every Java web framework I've ever worked with and I've used most of the popular ones. Always felt like I was fighting the framework for one reason or another; too verbose, not expressive enough or too tightly structured.

There are some decent platforms for the JVM though.
