amusingimpala75··on x86 is dead, long live x86
I would just like to point out that that is not how the saying goes. When Queen Elizabeth died it would have been “the queen is dead, long live the king”, as the dead thing is the predecessor and the living thing is the one that follows it

Can you link to “Mx-chat-gpt”? I can’t find it anywhere
amusingimpala75··on Exway doesn't care about USB-C conformity
Things like this are the reason the EU mandate for USB C bothers me. No, it doesn’t allow universal charging if the company is still going to be USB C-C charging compatible.

amusingimpala75··on Tips for programmers to stay ahead of generative AI
This is an instance of the dangers of LLM. Because you (self-admittedly) know nothing about the language or codebase, you have no idea the semantically correct way to do things, so if GPT tells you to metaphorically jump off a cliff, you won’t know that it isn’t the right thing to do.

I’m curious, what specific beliefs come to mind?
amusingimpala75··on Ask HN: What's the best book on religion?
Well yes that is what I meant, although reading the original language has a different feel to it.
amusingimpala75··on Ask HN: What's the best book on religion?
If you have the time you could read the religions’ foundational texts (Bible for Christianity, Quran for Islam, etc.) before commentaries on them.
amusingimpala75··on An experimental editor for WebGPU compute shaders
Does WebGPU present a permissions dialogue or does it just work automatically, allowing drive-by cryptominers?
amusingimpala75··on An unorthodox scholar uses technology to expose Biblical forgeries
“Having done that (and lacking cash to buy Photoshop), he downloaded an open-source knockoff.” Anyone wanna bet it’s GIMP?

The Bible (ESV)

amusingimpala75··on Microsoft sued for open-source piracy through GitHub Copilot
Well, let’s just leak the Windows source code into the training set. Then M$ will have no choice but to shut it down.
amusingimpala75··on TSMC Reports Q3 Earnings [pdf]
Give it a few years. The one child policy, even though it’s gone now, it really going to mess up population growth.
amusingimpala75··on Ask HN: Has the Apple Silicon excessive disk read/write issue been fixed?
I would presume this is an OS issue, and switching form macOS to Asahi Linux would solve this problem?
