amelius··on MicroLLM Lab – Try 7 tiny LLM's in the browser
Also, they should give some examples of what you can use these Small Language Models for, and what their limits are.
amelius··on It's Time to Investigate the AI Labs
And give them slaps on the wrist, like what happens now when they don't take security seriously and everybody's data ends up on the streets?
amelius··on It's Time to Investigate the AI Labs
You could also say that a human is just a bunch of atoms.

Thankfully, courts will look at it differently.

amelius··on It's Time to Investigate the AI Labs
AI is basically "Bobby Tables" but without a known proper engineering approach to solve it.
amelius··on Palantir founder purchases large swath of forest in Sweden
Why?
amelius··on Nvidia wants to put a watchdog chip next to every AI agent
I bet they want to do this to prevent AI from writing code for platforms that compete with CUDA. Because that's how nVidia is going to become a victim of their own success.
amelius··on World Labs is Joining AMD
I bet soon enough we can just ask AI to port stuff from CUDA to whatever language AMD is using. This is how nVidia will become a victim of their own success.
amelius··on Sonnet 5.5
This is great news because it means the model has not been benchmaxxed on stupid metrics.

PS: the next human that brings up pelicans on bicycles should try to draw them.

amelius··on AI companies in race to demonstrate their model most threatening to humanity
> But when CEOs warn of that, they're dismissed as scare mongers. Why? Are only powerless internet commentators allowed to be fearful?

Because they conveniently skip the part that investors don't like: that liberal free market capitalism will be destroyed by AI.

amelius··on The smart home graveyard is getting crowded
This is why I don't buy Apple products. You can't realistically use them after breaking all ties with the vendor.
amelius··on AI companies in race to demonstrate their model most threatening to humanity
So far I've only seen AI taking the fun jobs.
amelius··on AI companies in race to demonstrate their model most threatening to humanity
If I were the US government I would force the AI labs to solve the jobs that nobody likes to do, like cleaning the streets and collecting garbage. Because those are the jobs we will be doing if developments continue as they have been.
amelius··on AI companies in race to demonstrate their model most threatening to humanity
> If I were China, as soon as the US reached superintelligence, I'd ban all exports of robots and the raw materials to build them.

Aha, so maybe the AI labs have superintelligence and just don't want China to know? And that's why they are playing these word games now?

amelius··on AI companies in race to demonstrate their model most threatening to humanity
Why aren't the AI companies hacking each other?

Then we can truly see who is more dangerous?

:)

And I'm waiting for the story of Amodei sending a 6ft humanoid robot to OpenAI headquarters asking for Sam Altman.

Are you sure? Opus 5.5 is damn good ... I think I'm addicted, to be honest.

(Using it for scientific python code + 3D UIs)

amelius··on Made by Mechanical Means
Well, they could just share their prompts :)
amelius··on Intellectuals Are Fucking Idiots
We should check if AI gives better predictions than economists, and if so replace them.
amelius··on AI companies in race to demonstrate their model most threatening to humanity
Meanwhile, users don't seem to care one iota.
amelius··on Replacing the old battery on rechargeable bike lights
Thanks!
amelius··on Made by Mechanical Means
What I really look forward to is people on IMDB creating alternative movie endings or alternative scripts instead of bashing the movies :)

Or in addition to, because the movie bashing is quite funny in itself.

amelius··on Made by Mechanical Means
What did it cost, everything included?
amelius··on Nissan's third generation e-POWER powertrain
Yeah but I suppose you'd only use them if your hybrid ran out of battery power.
amelius··on Replacing the old battery on rechargeable bike lights
Does anyone know of a back light that turns off after 5 minutes of no movement? I'm tired of backlight being out of juice just because I forgot to turn it off ... I'm tempted to make a circuit and maybe even the sensor myself but I don't have the time for it and it probably already exists.
amelius··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
Well, better sell them because nvidia will be a victim of their own success. Who is going to write CUDA kernels if you can just ask AI to do it for you? At that point you might as well target different architectures.
amelius··on The state of SIMD in Rust in 2026
Can we start using stainless steel instead?
amelius··on Ember-1
I don't understand. If you have a model that can do bash examples already (your subagents), then why would you need to train a model?

Or are the subagents generating your training data using a closed/paid model?

amelius··on Meta Blocks President Lula's Facebook Page, Campaign Ads 2 Weeks from Election
It can be worked out. It does not need to be perfect. I see no need to start an endless discussion on it here.
amelius··on An agent used DNS to reach an external chatbot
Why are we using blacklisting and not whitelisting?
amelius··on Meta Blocks President Lula's Facebook Page, Campaign Ads 2 Weeks from Election
I would be in favor of blocking ALL political expressions on social media a few weeks before elections.

But this case is something else entirely.

amelius··on Meta Blocks President Lula's Facebook Page, Campaign Ads 2 Weeks from Election
Trump is friends with Bolsonaro.
