amdelamar··on Startups I Want to Fund
Once saw someone build a CLI tool and distribute on npmjs. Their install went something like `npm install -g mycli`. So in a way, they already are cross-platform.
amdelamar··on Startups I Want to Fund
If its a cross-platform CLI it would be fantastic. Combine brew, chocolatey, yum, apt-get, snap, docker, git... you name it. Surely there is someone on this already?
amdelamar··on Ask HN: How do you decide when you've done enough work for the day?
Making lists on sticky notes, and crumpling them up when they're done, is the best feeling and reaaaally makes you feel accomplished. :-)
amdelamar··on Ask HN: Does anyone actually use Keybase?
I tried Signal and Telegram. But I prefer Wire instead. Its secure by default, cross-platform, multi-device, and simple enough for Mom & Dad to use.
amdelamar··on Am I logged in or not? GDPR case study on the example of Chrome browser change
Yeah, but my parents _understand_ Facebook collects/sells their data. But they don't _care_ enough to stop using Facebook.

Of course, IBM has Rational Team Concert. It did... everything. But even teams within IBM were switching to GitHub Enterprise last I was there.

> You see more young people than we ever had. You walk around and you’re hearing probably every foreign language being spoken around this campus.

That's been my first impression as well. Now that I work there.

amdelamar··on IBM seeks $167M from Groupon in dispute over early internet patents
Simple. IBM filed first.

Reminds me of the "online shopping cart" patent that was sueing all major e-retailers years ago. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2013/01/how-newegg-crush...

The difference here, is IBM loves to license out their innovations. And I think that makes it easier (cheaper) for Facebook, Google, Amazon, to decide to pay the fee rather than battle in court.

amdelamar··on Why Kubernetes Is the New Application Server
As mentioned in the article, The EFK stack (Elasticsearch, Fluentd, Kibana) is great for unified logging. And its not just for OpenShift, its working wonders for our current project with Kubernetes on AWS.
amdelamar··on Startup Interviewing is Fucked
I was thinking about that too. Maybe because that candidate moved on to another company doing XYZ, and they tweeted about it or already made an impact somewhere else.

EDIT: But really, I think its subjective or FOMO thinking on their part.

amdelamar··on Mall landlords struggling to find takers at a price they’ll accept
Recently, a local mall near me (Lansing, MI) updated their policy to limit the number of "unsupervised youths" roaming their mall Fri/Sat evenings. Apparently the complaints have gone up, regarding teens and younger children running and being loud.

amdelamar··on Alternatives to Google Products
A few more things...

Google DNS (8.8.8.8) -> Quad9 (9.9.9.9) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1).

Google Domains -> Namecheap or Porkbun.

Google Hangouts -> Wire or Signal.

Google Groups -> Groups.io
