amazingamazing··on Anthropic is expanding to Colossus2. Will use GB200
I don't see a scenario where it really makes sense to be a frontier lab long term. Eventually model quality will plateau then you distill and get 90% for 10% or less cost.
amazingamazing··on OpenAI Adopts Google's SynthID Watermark for AI Images with Verification Tool
You can tell the difference in the example with your bare eyes lol
amazingamazing··on OpenAI Adopts Google's SynthID Watermark for AI Images with Verification Tool
Post a repro. I can do that too but then the similarity index is weak. The point is that it it looks indistinguishable then the integrity persists.

In my tests the image looks clearly distinct. In other words, if you can tell the difference then it isn’t a good test.

amazingamazing··on OpenAI Adopts Google's SynthID Watermark for AI Images with Verification Tool
Good. Despite people saying it will be removed, I have seen no reproducible repo demonstrating it.
amazingamazing··on OpenAI Adopts Google's SynthID Watermark for AI Images with Verification Tool
No, they are very resistant to modification that can be done easily. That being said I doubt it is impossible
amazingamazing··on Google changes its search box for the first time in 25 years
Use another provider like Kagi and pay up
amazingamazing··on I’ve joined Anthropic
Money always wins.
amazingamazing··on EU weighs restricting use of US cloud platforms to process government data
Why is China able to use its own cloud but not EU? Same with AI.
amazingamazing··on At least 25 Flock cameras have been destroyed in five states since April 2025
Again this is not the Boston Tea Party or the Civil Rights movement. I also don’t really care about upvotes either. You keep making comparisons with the past instead of explicitly stating your opinion on the topic at hand in the article. Anyway no point of further discourse.
amazingamazing··on At least 25 Flock cameras have been destroyed in five states since April 2025
Why not? They can retroactively be used like flock. Amazon could partner with them tomorrow. The police already can and have asked Amazon to footage and correlated it to find people.
amazingamazing··on At least 25 Flock cameras have been destroyed in five states since April 2025
So what are you advocating for?
amazingamazing··on At least 25 Flock cameras have been destroyed in five states since April 2025
The irony is destruction of private property will only justify the very surveillance one is trying to avoid. Would you agree ring cameras should be destroyed too? The police can use their footage. In practice they are similar to flock.
amazingamazing··on At least 25 Flock cameras have been destroyed in five states since April 2025
Eventually toll cameras and a consortium of private businesses will have this tech and then game over. Better to use this energy and legislate the behavior you want. Never let the enemy decide the terms.
amazingamazing··on Mistral's CEO: Europe has 2 years to stop becoming America's AI 'vassal state'
Deepseek is open source. Whats stopping them from distilling it and releasing their own model today? Where is the reliance on America? Gpus?
amazingamazing··on AI is a technology not a product
Translation existed before llms tho in hundreds of languages. Google translate came out in 2006
amazingamazing··on AI is a technology not a product
I don’t see how a llm solves this. It’s not like a llm hosts the website. Sites like squarespace and Wordpress let you modify your site without ever seeing code. They have graphical editors that you can stay in if you wish. I agree llms help, though if you use a product.
amazingamazing··on AI is a technology not a product
Im unconvinced. How do you trade this for misinformation and scams that will be coming on unprecedented scale? In any case isn’t it the case that the value there is human expertise and search? At least with gpt 5 using it without search will almost certainly give you wrong information in a variety of topics so the value seems to be in search which is old tech
amazingamazing··on AI is a technology not a product
Was it really that difficult to build a generic website with a template before? Using a LLM instead of a template seems like ridiculous overkill imho but thanks for the anecdote.
amazingamazing··on AI is a technology not a product
GPT 3.5 is nearly 4 years old. What’s a non coding use case that’s enabled with LLMs that materially improves the average person’s life? For the sake of conversation let’s say the average person is some random person in middle America.

To me there are cool things but nothing so great where if LLMs were deleted I’d cry about it. To contrast mRNA vaccines, gene therapy and crispr seem more impactful in reality, just to mention things from 2020.

amazingamazing··on Mozilla to UK regulators: VPNs are essential privacy and security tools
Does UK not have equivalent to CPS?
amazingamazing··on Moving away from Tailwind, and learning to structure my CSS
I have used tailwind and tachyons and they are fine. I do winder though it seems like you end up being stuck with them. How would you migrate to traditional CSS without effectively rewriting all of your css?

I also wonder if it is necessary still with css modules and the fact web frameworks allow for scoped css per component.

amazingamazing··on Texas county passes 1-year data center construction ban
Interesting - got a source? Id be surprised if such a noise survives a few miles.
amazingamazing··on US is starting to see heavy job losses in roles exposed to AI
No surprise, it has been true for a while.
amazingamazing··on Texas county passes 1-year data center construction ban
I would personally, why not (generally curious why there is opposition. Things such as the whole electric infrastructure costs being passed on to consumers is not inherent to a data center build, just a failure in policy).
amazingamazing··on Japan’s robot wolf sells out as record bear attacks drive demand
Are these uniquely effective compared to drones, RC cars, etc?
amazingamazing··on US is starting to see heavy job losses in roles exposed to AI
I didn't say anything about engineers. Big tech over employs across all professions.

But in any case the primary source mentions tech: https://www.bls.gov/opub/mlr/2024/article/industry-and-occup...

amazingamazing··on US is starting to see heavy job losses in roles exposed to AI
The reality no one ever wants to talk about is that big tech doesn't need as many employees that it has. Anyone who has worked in big tech knows it is true.
amazingamazing··on Meta to receive $3.3B in tax breaks for its $10B Louisiana data center
Sure, but the alternative is zero.
amazingamazing··on A Meta employee gets real about the horror of working there
If you have unlimited money to throw on infra it really is not difficult. You could literally implement the entire thing with S3 and Firebase.
amazingamazing··on Frontier AI has broken the open CTF format
> We’ve figured out the human replacement pipeline it seems, but we haven’t figured out the eduction part.

No we have not.
