altsyset··on Show HN: What are must watch coding videos? Must watch JavaScript talks? etc.
Thanks, a similar repo was an inspiration https://github.com/bolshchikov/js-must-watch

Please let me know if there are any videos I must include. You can also submit them yourself.
altsyset··on Show HN: What are must watch coding videos? Must watch JavaScript talks? etc.
These are common questions here, so I am curating the must-watch videos on programming and related topics.
altsyset··on Ask HN: Which book have you re-read the most times? how many times?
"Sapiens", three times.
altsyset··on Ask HN: Medium.com alternative for developers?
Have you tried dev.to
altsyset··on Ask HN: Does Sophia the robot have any unique capabilities?
https://www.inc.com/will-yakowicz/sofia-robot-hanson-robotic... For example in this article, the conversation seems scripted:

Goertzel then asked Sofia what is her next frontier and what does she want to achieve.

"Don't know, maybe the world," she said. "Maybe the world. That was a joke.

"Seriously," she continued, "what I really want is to understand people better and to understand myself better. I want to be able to do more things and soon my capabilities will be advanced enough that I will be able to get a job."

altsyset··on Now that AI is debating. I’s wondering, what will remain impossible for it?
To hear that program argue, reason and reach logical conclusions was both exciting and scary. Immediately, you would think what are some things they won’t learn how to do? Why would humans be important? Indispensable?
altsyset··on Ask HN: Best place to host technical blog?
GitHub pages
altsyset··on Ask HN: Forum(s) that you visit daily?
IH community is my new special splace
altsyset··on What are some YouTube channels to progress into advanced levels of programming?
Honestly, it's hard to just learn from books. YouTube videos are that personal connect if you are a lone developer. It feels like you are working with whomever is in video
altsyset··on What are some YouTube channels to progress into advanced levels of programming?
Thanks
altsyset··on What are some YouTube channels to progress into advanced levels of programming?
Exactly what I'm looking for. That would be priceless
altsyset··on Ask HN: How do you fight self-skepticism towards your own ideas?
This is great advice, I just want to add few things.

1. When ever you come up with an idea, write it down in a designated notebook,

2. Next make a list of why it would work and why it won't,

3. Study the pattern.

If you had made enough idea you will see how you think. You will find out if the self doubt is coming out of fear or a logical argument. Whatever the outcome, you would be in a better situation to take action. When you are ready to take action

4. Pick the idea that has highest market potential and suits your strength

5. Elaborate it into more detail by brainstorming and taking notes to strengthen you conviction.

6. Execute! Execute! Execute! Don't look back

altsyset··on Ask HN: What SaaS/PaaS/IaaS would you recommend to others?
I'm a build SaaS rating platform. May be that would help u indemnify what to avoid. It's early stage though. Check at http://www.tolothere.com
altsyset··on Ask HN: Anyone using a markdown file based CMS for more than a year?
1000 is a lot and I would consider my project a success if it goes that much.
altsyset··on Ask HN: What are some rigorous ways to review and test usability of web apps?
Wouldn't that transfer the subjective nature of this challenge from you to users? For example, how do u think an iPhone user will do in an Android phone or vice versa? A win desktop app user in a web app?
altsyset··on Ask HN: What are some rigorous ways to review and test usability of web apps?
I love mother test! Even though it takes as back to the point made by @Msurrow and @scoggs
altsyset··on Ask HN: What are some rigorous ways to review and test usability of web apps?
You see, HN's and Reddit's UI is what makes me wonder about everything. I can argue that both these site would score low on many of our criteria yet they strive, even in 2017.
altsyset··on Ask HN: What is the purpose of life in your point of view?
The only purpose of life is giving purpose and meaning to your own life and collectively. Most prefer just accepting a collective purpose, meaning or goal in life. This will eventually lead to self doubt.

Few prefer defining their purpose and influencing others with it. We call them leaders, artists, visionaries etc.

Some prefer manipulation of lack of understanding of purpose. They become a leading to force in preaching things they don't understand themselves.

altsyset··on Ask HN: What are some rigorous ways to review and test usability of web apps?
very helpful article, I have seen their blog but not this wiki entry. Thanks. Anyways I am gonna test other people's web app using these techniques. Wish me good luck.
altsyset··on Ask HN: What are some rigorous ways to review and test usability of web apps?
Except that I am not planning to test an app I built but an app my clients are planning to use/buy. And I would have to use these methods, even though, they are subjective. One way to make it less subjective is what @Msurrow suggested, which I think is so valuable.
altsyset··on Ask HN: What are some rigorous ways to review and test usability of web apps?
This is by far the deepest assessment of the situation and it totally makes sense to consider the user and the situation. In fact, building a matrix with criteria and user/situation will benefit the who process and everyone involved. Thank you very much! But, regardless of the kind of UI, user, situation etc almost everything here is subjective, what do you think could be done to avoid the subjective nature of this process?
altsyset··on Ask HN: Those making over $1K/month on side projects, what did you make?
Awesome product! and I am more than happy and inspired that you are from Africa
altsyset··on Show HN: A self-hosted alternative to Trello, Basecamp, and Freshbooks
The advantage of this option is clear. That is why people will jump on it. Yet the challenge of having self hosted products is providing continuous development, support and maintenance.

This challenge is not just for the client it is for you, the developer too. You must make sure they have a way to update their product and you to continue to develop in one place.

altsyset··on Ask HN: What are you currently building?
I was looking for a free car buying and selling site. Couldn't find one in my geographic location so I decided to build one myself. http://www.hulucars.com/ is just the start and hope to continue growing. I have decided to take the MVP online and continue developing.
