And voila, support person opens the door for you.
Anyway, if you can make it work, I'll study your code religiously !
I made a bot library for https://turntable.fm/ in javascript -> https://github.com/alaingilbert/Turntable-API
Then I rebuilt it in go -> https://github.com/alaingilbert/ttapi
Then I tried to write it in rust, but the pattern isn't really good with the borrow checker, I cannot make this work -> https://github.com/alaingilbert/rust-ttapi/blob/47282b7a334d...
So if someone can find a good pattern to use for this type of library, I would gladly want to learn.
Pull requests are welcome, I'm also always on discord if you want to chat.
Open source: in open source, I hope people want their contributions to be visible, so that they can brag about it, or put it in their resume.
Business: in business, maybe some people wants to hide some contributions they made in order to avoid being blamed for broken code.
But at the same time, if you have code stats and you see that an engineer owns less than x% of the codebase, it could be seen as a bad sign.
> Things I now believe, which past me would've squabbled with:
That phrase was not there originally when the article was posted.
Now, I just focus on code correctness, merge and fix the code style myself, avoiding a lot of useless back and forth.
My hope is that people like to see their name when they "git blame" (what's the PC version of "blame" again?)
So they will over time learn to follow the code style in order to keep their name there.
And they also need me to print it so that they can scan it back in their computer system !
What a world we live in.
So if you want to use cairo to render the graph in your native app, you can use it. The renderer is really simple because the go library does all the computation of how to actually render the graph. It tries to be as close looking as possible as "sourcetree" algorithm.
Not sure if this is clear explanation or not !
You access it because it's publicly available...
Instead of having a "messy" folder on their computer.
But somehow on lightsail (only), the machine just goes completely unresponsive instead.
- They could have much better service
- And bring down their expenses by at least half again
I used lightsail, and it's a terrible service.
It is very expensive (still) compared to other hosting providers.
And if your instance ever go out of memory, it become unresponsive for as long as you don't go manually restart it.
On other providers that I use, the OS would just "sacrifice child" (kill the process) and restart it.
It's not ideal, but much better than having to go there yourself to restart the whole thing.
Go was faster, Go use (a lot) less memory, much easier to distribute the application, and I don't need generics (even though I like it)
Are they also forced to do it ?!
(or maybe they genuinely enjoy it)
He talk about something that might be of interest for these people.
It doesn't sound like he was spamming or doing anything annoying.
It sounds to me like a more human way of doing advertisement. The only difference is that he is actually there to have an actual conversation about it.
First time was a company that had 0 clients in Qc (or Canada if that matters), still received a complaint.
Fortunately, since we didn't care about the FR website, we basically added a link which was pointing to a google translate version of it.
But yeah, this law is definitely used by many as an "exploit against companies" just to make you waste your time.
It makes a huge difference.
The later is basically the same as not having any blur.
Now let say you make photoshop, it's great, people loves it. And most of your customers got it for a fixed price, and they are happy with it.
Now, You want to improve the software and add features that some professionals need.
But most of your customers are happy with previous version. you no longer have a lot of money coming in.
Repeat that a couple times, and now most of your market is happy, and you don't have any money coming in.
And then you close shop. And people wonder why.
