aizyuval··on Ask HN: My next project is guaranteed to be “attacked”. How should I prepare?
Im having hard time coming up with a genius idea for your defense or counter attack.

I see only the long-term approach. If you’ll keep working and do us on what you can control, you’ll get the best you can get.

They cannot be controlled. So leave it aside, and work harder than you’d normally have to.

Positive reviews will come, and eventually (but maybe slowly) they’ll overcome the bad ones.

P.S: I’d love to get a copy. Email me with the release! @yuvalaizenman@gmail.com

aizyuval··on I am done. I give up
Luck is an excuse.

One can choose to try a lot of different things, and another will choose to have a single few shots. One can choose to accept the “truth”, and the other will refuse to do so.

We get feedback from the world, and we choose how to analyze it and interact with it.

It’s easy to be fooled by the fact that we have only one choice. Or that the feedback reflects the absolute truth.

aizyuval··on I am done. I give up
> I know I'm not alone in feeling this way. There are so many other indie entrepreneurs out there who are struggling and feeling like they'll never make it. If you're one of them, I want you to know that you're not alone. It's okay to feel defeated and to want to give up. But please don't give up. Keep pushing forward and don't let the failures define you. There's always a chance for success, no matter how small it may seem.

It’s interesting how one can say something to others and do the exact opposite a second later. It seems like you’re ok with others doing the hard work, but not yourself.

IMO its hard, but possible. If others could do it, so can I. I have learnt that by being consistent and working hard, things eventually work out someway.

aizyuval··on Are super-rich people just better at making money?
Unfortunately, it’s a simulation.

Coin flip is pure luck, so there’s no accountability in losing the game. Hence, redistributing the wealth sounds like a fair idea.

The catch is that some people actually believe in luck, so they believe accountability doesn’t count.

Plus, taxing the rich will (and rightfully so) make them leave. And then, who will pay the taxes? Who will create jobs? How many people will lose their jobs?

aizyuval··on Ask HN: Has anyone here turned around their life in their 40s?
Whatever you choose, i suggest you do as much as possible, as fast as possible.

Getting things done gives you more ideas, and sharpen your thinking, as opposed to sitting and thinking.

It is definitely hard to do so, _especially_ when you’re in an obscure situation.

But it’s the right thing to do, and you’ve got nothing to lose.

Commit to doing. Start even with something stupid, and you’ll get rolling from there.

aizyuval··on Show HN: Screen Studio – Beautiful screen recordings in minutes
The videos doesn’t play. Safari.
aizyuval··on Ask HN: How do you protect your eyes while coding for long hours?
I personally use dark mode because it’s comfortable. If you keep the room well lit there’s no problem.
aizyuval··on Ask HN: How do you protect your eyes while coding for long hours?
Yes! *One arm length.
aizyuval··on Ask HN: How do you protect your eyes while coding for long hours?
I asked an ophthalmologist (My father) about the issue:

He thinks that healthy habits keeps you safe.

As a general rule, try to avoid making too much effort.

• Avoid sitting in a dark room with just the monitor on.

• avoid being too close to the monitor. Distance of one hand length is enough, but not less. (Half of this for your phone).

• Have breaks. After one hour, give your eyes some minutes to refresh.

I personally use dark mode.

Great job! Very nice.
aizyuval··on Anti-War Speech Sent Eugene V. Debs to Prison, 1918
Interesting. Though, I meant that it always seems like the only choice which makes it viable.
aizyuval··on Anti-War Speech Sent Eugene V. Debs to Prison, 1918
War is the worst, and yet it serms to be so common and often “The only choice” (allegedly. As it was in WW1).

It’s a viscous cycle. It sucks.

aizyuval··on Tell HN: Happy Thanksgiving
Thanks to everyone for the kind support and sharing of your wisdom.
aizyuval··on Writing by hand is still the best way to retain information
It lacks to mention the simpleness of rewriting using digital means.

When I’m able to rewrite a paragraph a 1000 times compared to much less while writing, the repetition leads to retaining information, among other things like text sharpness etc.

The article does show that for simple, day to day and short notes, it’s beneficial to use a journal.

aizyuval··on Webb Telescope Image Gallery
Forms of lights and our capture of it creates our “vision”. The longer the distance it took the light to travel from the objects to our telescope, the more time it takes. By the time it is finally captured, we are watching an outdated light!

An outdated galaxy.

I hope that’s what you meant.

aizyuval··on Map of the observable universe
Awesome! Loved it! Simple and so fascinating.
aizyuval··on Ask HN: Do you read news daily?
Most news platforms I come across display everything that brings clicks. Its usefulness doesn’t seem to matter. I follow specific people on twitter, follow hacker news, and thats enough. You end up being updated on what matters/truly urgent.
aizyuval··on I created a site to make AI generated photos of your pet
It seems interesting to be honest. I’d love to participate somehow, but 30$ is simply way too high.

I would like to see more examples, to really know what im getting into. See more detailed (or more easy to detect) process.

aizyuval··on Ask HN: What are your “scratch own itch” projects?
I'm a beginner, learning with a teacher and practicing for 1 hour a day. Although I find myself pretty comfortable with discipline, I find what you’re saying (if true) refreshing.

I’d be happy to help/or provide feedback if that can be helpful! Yuvalaizenman@gmail.com

aizyuval··on What you shouldn't think
I agree.

I do see an ideal where those different thought segments will not override each other.

aizyuval··on What you shouldn't think
I’m a bit puzzled by this question.

My main goal was to approach underlying social norms. I didn’t mean to point out that others do not know them and I do. I’ve tried to generalize examples that we all might notice and reason with.

How could’ve I done that better?

aizyuval··on Ask HN: How to Find a Side Project?
Thank you! I’ve decided to start and write a blog, and I’ve just published my first essay. I’m writing a lot to myself, and long form essays are thought provoking and interesting, so I’m doing it!
aizyuval··on Ask HN: What technology seems like magic to you?
Telescopes generally. James Webb specifically. Being able to marvel at objects light years away, and having (large) glimpses to the past. A time machine aswell as a teleporter.
