adv0r··on Launch HN: Anja Health (YC W22) – Freezing stem cells at birth for future health
is there any science backing this? case studies of actual people actually benefiting from it?
adv0r··on Launch HN: OneChronos (YC S16) – Combinatorial auctions market for US equities
why launching in 2022 a pre-2016 company?
adv0r··on Aosta Valley Autonomus Region
why is this on hacker news? In italy we do have 5 autonomous regions apart from Val D'Aosta (Sardegna, Sicilia, Trentino Alto-Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia)
adv0r··on Launch HN: Demigod (YC S19) – Build compounding habits with a dedicated coach
why two years to launch?
adv0r··on Ask HN: What you up to? (Who doesn't want to be hired?)
> society does not recognize in terms of existing

The hell with this. Society nows recognizes Early Retirment as a status to aspire to. People look up to joung retirees, and this provides a pretty big identity.

The FI movement now put a name and label on it, so the belonging part of meaning is covered.

adv0r··on Ask HN: What you up to? (Who doesn't want to be hired?)
Same here, but without the meaningless feeling. Started like you, and quickly 6 months became two years. Now I have two kids that fill my day routine. And I too read philosophy and reddit a lot.

don't be sad.

adv0r··on How to Work Hard
This is the first essay by PG which I find somehow misleading. It took me a couple of years after quitting my frenetic goal-driven life to be able to sit back and enjoy. I was the kind of person that have a task on Trello to shave and shower. If you feel that doing nothing is wasting time, I feel there is a good chance you need to look deeper within yourself and see what your REAL drive is. Why you do what you do? Why you can't sit in peace? Why do you have FOMO? Why looking at the TED talk by 10-year-old-genious millionare makes you feel miserable? You try to compensate by keep moving, never stopping, and sedate your anxiety and fear with a ... job. Something you can be very good at, something that can be meaningful, yet you are in autopilot.

If you can't turn it off because you feel discomfort, well, maybe you are missing out on your inner voice. You can go by probably for decades ignoring it, and actually use ""FOCUS"" as mean to procrastinate/getting distracted from thinking about your human condition.

But I'm just me and he is PG.

So maybe listen to him

adv0r··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (June 2021)
Warning for potential applicants: I Applied two+ months ago and never heard back.
adv0r··on Ask HN: What tech job would let me get away with the least real work possible?
I'm surprised no one mentioned you should start by reading chose FI https://www.choosefi.com/
adv0r··on Launch HN: Insight (YC W19) – an iOS browser with easy-to-make extensions
Out of curiosity: how can a YC startup take two years to launch a product?
adv0r··on Launch HN: Enombic (YC S20) – Create your own stock indexes
I want to be able to charge a fee on top of my indexes before making "subscribable" by others. That'd attract a shitload of users ;)

EDIT1: Also: are you familiar with your competitors on the crypto side of things? Iconomi, to name one.

EDIT2: Is this available to non-US users? That'd be huge, as we are not able to access ARK directly , to name one

congrats. Just one thing: in Barcelona the official language is Catalan, so if you look for a local station try not to put "Latino" music (that's latino america -> south America

adv0r··on Ask HN: I implemented the life I designed: perfect but I feel lost. What now?
lol. True but I don't personally have anybody in my circle of friends who had experienced this kind of "I have everything" crisis.

You are also very good at reading between the lines!

> Would it not be better to be master of your own vehicle, rather than be 'driven'?

Very deep question. As I mentioned, I don't know the answer.

I admit I definitely need to do some more reading of those authors. Anything, in particular, you'd suggest to get me started?

hehe funny enough, I did it 20 minutes before writing this post. I couldn't find the answer inside so I though: "Fuck it, let's ask HN"

adv0r··on Ask HN: I implemented the life I designed: perfect but I feel lost. What now?
yes, math was my major in BSc. Felt in love after reading Du Sautoy. it's probably being 10 years now I don't do any serious abstract math tho
adv0r··on Ask HN: I implemented the life I designed: perfect but I feel lost. What now?
Watched the video. I am definitely the kind of person he describes, and I agree with the diagnosis he makes about the human condition. I honestly don't think the cure he is suggesting is working, otherwise, I wouldn't be here. I am very very very far from being passive, indeed I (try to) fill (most of) my days with challenges and creative activities from which I get pride (cit.) pleasure, and make me feel alive. I've always lived this way, and it starts to feel like a "challenge addiction" that doesn't really take me anywhere long term. It makes me perpetually and intermittently unsatisfied so that I need to go find "the next thing" to create/do/work on, that will make the discomfort go away, and let me feel PRIDE. For 10 minutes. And then back to it... It's a hamster wheel, and it's the very reason I started this thread. I started to somehow look with envy at the "content people" which seem to get away with passive and superficial relaxing lives.
adv0r··on Ask HN: I implemented the life I designed: perfect but I feel lost. What now?
this resonate quite a lot with the state of things. Thanks.

Tomorrow morning I'll plan to spend some time in a library just pondering about it
