adrr··on JetBlue flight averts mid-air collision with US Air Force jet
Someone has to prevent the execution of journalist who speak out against the regime and that has no due process and also have highest execution rate of any country. They labeled "Authoritarian state" by Amnesty International and Humans Rights Watch and "Systemic human-rights violator" by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Oh wait, i mixed up Saudi Arabia one of the US's closets allies with Venezuela.

adrr··on 8M users' AI conversations sold for profit by "privacy" extensions
Its the reason why they found it because the code was in extension. Before manifest v3, extensions could just load external scripts and there's no way you could tell what they were actually doing.

China EVs are cheaper than ICE cars.

adrr··on Ford kills the All-Electric F-150
They should be cheaper than the F150 but Ford can’t figure out how to make batteries cheaply. Evs are a lot less complex, no gas engine, no transmission, no exhaust systems with hundreds of dollars of precious metal in them. It should be cheaper than a gas equivalent.
adrr··on Rivian Unveils Custom Silicon, R2 Lidar Roadmap, and Universal Hands Free
I own FSD, its no where near autonomy.
adrr··on Apple's slow AI pace becomes a strength as market grows weary of spending
If its a gimmick to have a functioning Siri, please give me gimmicks. Siri is a generation behind Alexa and Hey Google. Siri is next to worthless.
adrr··on Dollar-stores overcharge customers while promising low prices
Source that they are replacing grocery stores? Dollar stores are closing and not expanding . 99 cents stores went bankrupt, rest have been closing hundreds of stores.

Also dollar stores carry produce just grocery at least largest ones do like dollar general. They are designed to compete against grocery stores and wallmart’s neighborhood markets.

adrr··on Dollar-stores overcharge customers while promising low prices
Have you ever been to a dollar store? Its much cheaper for the same items than a regular grocery store. Also not everyone needs a Costco sized tub of mayo. You test it yourself go by a standard sized candy bar at safeway/alberstons and then at a dollar store. Bottle of coke. Birthday card. Better yet compare the cost spices. Try to buy bay leaves at regular grocery store for under $5.

adrr··on OpenAI declares 'code red' as Google catches up in AI race
Gemini also will answer most queries where ChatGpt won't do a lot of things. Example: "Create an image of Snow white". This will give the stand "Violates our content policy" even though the story was written hundreds of years ago. You can even point out the story is in the public domain and it still won't do it.

I remember when it wouldn't even give me the lyrics to the star spangled banner. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44832990#44833365

adrr··on India orders smartphone makers to preload state-owned cyber safety app
Wouldn't that require Apple to sign the app with their own key to get low level API access? Has apple ever done that with anyone?

adrr··on Hemp ban hidden inside government shutdown bill
Wasn't the senate just following the ask of 39 state Attorney Generals to close the loop hole on concentrated THC products made from hemp?
adrr··on Redmond, WA, turns off Flock Safety cameras after ICE arrests
Couldn't they just not log the license plates and only look for license plates on the list like stolen cars, stolen plates, amber alert etc? Why do they a need a list of all cars that the camera saw?
adrr··on Europe to decide if 6 GHz is shared between Wi-Fi and cellular networks
Carriers will never fix issues that they have a revenue stream off of. They sell services to detect call forwarding attacks, sim swap attacks etc to banks and other services.

Its like robocalling, fraud texts and calls you received. Carriers can't sell services to filter them if they fix the issues that allow these to happen in the first place.

Way to fix it is to make the carrier liable. It will be fixed instantly.

adrr··on Man who threw sandwich at US border agent not guilty of assault
Law enforcement officer committed perjury on the stand since the defense presented a picture of the sandwich after the throw and it was still wrapped up. It never exploded.
adrr··on Zohran Mamdani wins the New York mayoral race
There was a government option in the original ACA. Dems couldn’t get the votes to overcome the filibuster in the senate to pass it. It had nothing to do Obama u turning. It was an amazing feat to get it passed in congress and get 60 votes in the senate.
adrr··on You can't refuse to be scanned by ICE's facial recognition app, DHS document say
Trump is deporting US citizen with no due process. Lets not pretend this happened under Obama or Biden.

adrr··on You can't refuse to be scanned by ICE's facial recognition app, DHS document say
Administration view is that if you're not citizen, you don't get due process[1]. Even if you're a citizen, if their system says your not, you'll never get brought in front of people who know the law. Why due process only works if everyone gets it otherwise the government will say your a class that doesn't get it even if you aren't.

adrr··on Falling panel prices lead to global solar boom, except for the US
Grid costs a lot more money than power generation. It’s 60+% of the bill. Really wish they went with fixed grid hookup costs that includes delivery and usage for power generation.
adrr··on Chipotle stock craters: young people without jobs cannot afford their food

adrr··on Why Nigeria accepted GMOs
Is natural breeding better with just randomly flipping genes with help of radiation or whatever they use to get a bunch of genes to flip? At least with GMO, you know the outcomes of the DNA instead of rolling dice over and over.

GMO is just more precision and regular breeding can do the same given enough time. It’s just DNA code end of the day.

adrr··on Trump pardons convicted Binance founder
Six years of investigation and all they could find is that he put false information on a government form and paid his taxes late. Six years. Mueller investigation was only two years and how many charges did he find? Jack Smith investigation was one year before he has charged people with dozens of charges. This prosecutor had six years and couldn't dig up anything. Either hunter biden is the smart person in world that was so smart that he left no evidence of crimes or it was partisan witch hunt.

Also if the gun charges were so serious, why aren't we prosecuting Joe Rogan, its literally a slam dunk case. He smokes pot(a schedule 1 drug) on his podcasts and brags about his concealed weapons permit. You don't even need to find witnesses, just show the jury of him smoking pot and a copy of his federal form. Or we could just cross reference the ATF background database with states' Medical Marijuana Registries. Could prosecute tens of millions of people including Joe Rogan.

adrr··on Trump pardons convicted Binance founder
> Since 2018, Weiss had been investigating Hunter Biden as U.S. attorney. In 2023, Republicans asked Garland to appoint a special counsel, some specifically demanding Weiss, a Republican appointed to his role by President Donald Trump. Garland ultimately appointed Weiss, giving him additional authority. However, congressional Republicans then expressed criticism, some stating Weiss was untrustworthy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_C._Weiss

6 years of investigation and all they could find was that Hunter did drugs and owned a gun. I am sure if we drug tested congress, we could prosecute a bunch of congressmen for the same crime. Maybe thats why supreme court is looking at the constitutionality of the law and its all been ruled unconstitutional in one of the courts districts but hey lets prosecute Hunter Biden for it.

adrr··on Trump pardons convicted Binance founder
Because he was prosecuted for doing drugs and owning a gun? There's literal video of Joe Rogan smoking pot and he talks about his concealed weapons permit. It would be a slam dump case, some how i don't think he's getting prosecuted because its selective law open to abuse. Seems perfectly good use of pardon.
