adrithmetiqa··on Belgium stops decommissioning nuclear power plants
That’s not true. The true capture price of nuclear is much higher https://green-giraffe.com/publication/blog-post/what-capture...
adrithmetiqa··on Laws of UX
What a great resource. On a related note, while I love the content here on hn, the message threading is far from optimal. I know there are many alternate interfaces, can anyone recommend the best alternative ux for hn?
adrithmetiqa··on Claude for Creative Work
To repeat what’s been said before, the only way the large AI vendors can get a return on their huge investment is to eat the entire economy ($20/month won’t cut it). All information worker jobs are at risk and the creative ones are not immune.
adrithmetiqa··on Flickr: The first and last great photo platform
This article got me curious as I used Flickr years ago. Sadly couldn’t even move past the cookie banner at all. Too bad
adrithmetiqa··on Google plans to invest up to $40B in Anthropic
Subscribers will not enable these companies to make their money back. The only way is for them to eat the economy itself
adrithmetiqa··on Bluesky has been dealing with a DDoS attack for nearly a full day
Is this just for fun or is there some underlying purpose to those type of attack?

Is it possible to have any certainty when answering that question?

adrithmetiqa··on Guitar Tuning Nightmares Explained
Love the tuning tips about cutting out the highs and only the rhythm pickup
adrithmetiqa··on Apple's accidental moat: How the "AI Loser" may end up winning
I would argue that they are as bad as each other. I have to repeat most voice commands to Siri and Alexa than getting it right first time. No experience with Google.
adrithmetiqa··on Renewables reached nearly 50% of global electricity capacity last year
Yep. The key difference is that a gas power plant can be cut off completely at any time. For example if a trigger happy leader decided to cause military mayhem in an unpredictable region supplying a large proportion of the world’s gas. The sun, however, keeps on shining.
adrithmetiqa··on Further human + AI + proof assistant work on Knuth's "Claude Cycles" problem
Super interesting but what does this mean for us mere mortals?
adrithmetiqa··on Turns out your coffee addiction may be doing your brain a favor
Exactly. Just another “study” finding a correlation without causation.
adrithmetiqa··on Show HN: Will my flight have Starlink?
Does anyone else appreciate the final space where we can be disconnected. I do, for one
adrithmetiqa··on Wired headphone sales are exploding
Many pro wired comments here about quality which can be classed under the category “most people cannot tell the difference”. You simply cannot compare the considerably greater convenience of wireless to wired when on the go. Also, any decent wireless over the ear headset allows for wired use when out of battery. That’s hardly a game changer
adrithmetiqa··on Geothermal power is a climate moon shot beneath our feet
These guys have made huge progress with their closed loop system https://www.eavor.com/technology/
