adlep··on Ask HN: How to start coding "our" version of online image editor?
Super answer. Thank you so much for helping us out with this. I am getting ready to start my learning journey and I've asked so that I won't invest my time into picking up a wrong technology for the job - so again - thanks for the advice. And don't worry. This is not a homework problem. Rather, it is my side project called StickyFrames. Lear more in here: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2350347 We have the physical prototypes ready, but we need a well functioning web service to make this product a success.
adlep··on We should stop running away from radiation
I've seen a similar titled article about the Fukoshima plant on HN called: "Why I am not worried about Japan’s nuclear reactors."
adlep··on Party like it's 1999
I totally agree with the article, but don't expect to get a lot of up votes in here for it. It is not a popular trend.
adlep··on Detroit's population crashes down 25% from 2000
The biggest problem in doing business in D. is an ever-present Mr. 15% mentality. You won't be able to do much without either: 1. Having friends with connections in the "government" of Detroit or 2. Paying off so that they will get off your back.

I live in Ferndale, but I have an idea that is very suitable for Detroi - but I won't pursue it until there are some more changes happening in the city council.

adlep··on Job Post – Hiring My First Employee At $3.00/Hr
Believe it or not, but $3.00/hr is a decent per hour wage in some countries. Congrats on the first employee and good luck with your project Rob!
adlep··on Google Goes Gaga (Lady GaGa talk at Google)
This actually was a really, really good interview. Lady GaGa is very well spoken. She is comfortable talking about herself and explaining her music without snubbing at anyone. Thx Google, Marissa, and Lady GaGa.
adlep··on Hackernews And The ‘dirty’ Black Founder Question
Trying to start a controversy where there isn't one. Money $$$$ talks and it sees no color. The IT people tend to be rational. They are swayed by a good, well explained idea that has potential - rather than anything else like a race or gender. So do not expect to be discriminated in the IT world, but at the same time do not expect that the color of your skin, or gender, or anything else gets you an advantage. Please, stop blowing smoke. I personally do not care how many founders are black, white, green, German, Polish, Russian, or Jewish. This does not concern me. I judge your idea and it's usefulness to my situation and not anything else.
adlep··on Hobbyist in need of a Project
You may be our GodSend... Have a look at this. http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2350347 Let me know if interested. Coding is not my specialty, but I can learn everything in IT. However, I will need a tech lead/overlord to tell me/us what to do.
adlep··on Programmable magnets
This has been an engineering holly grail for quite a while. If validated, the patents for such magnets should make a nice financial windfall for this company. Great news if validated.
adlep··on Web developer will work for you for free
It is indeed the case. You really can't live off it in the US though...
adlep··on The 'why I am not worried' article, edited by MIT nuclear scientists
Well, my conclusion was totally different - right after the first explosion. Edit: I think you should really stop arguing this by now :) Unfortunately, I can not give you a credit for that problem - there is no partial credit, the answer is wrong so it is an "F".
adlep··on Looking for a Technical CoFounder
Someone good will always be in high demand. Edit: How about going to campuses around Chicago and posting an add for a co founder? There may be a Zukenburg type of a kid out there waiting for his potential to be discovered? Also, they may be willing to devote a lot of time to the project. Just have them sign an NDA...:P
adlep··on Web developer will work for you for free
I could never accept such an offer. I hope that Vladimir will gets at least a minimum U.S. hourly rate for his efforts. Edit: A minimum US hourly wage is a very decent pay in Russia.
adlep··on Looking for a Technical CoFounder
Good luck. I am in the same situation. I had a promising lead coming out of my submission (http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2320490), but it did not work out due to conflict of schedules. I hope that you will be able to find someone. Best of luck.
adlep··on The 'why I am not worried' article, edited by MIT nuclear scientists
Well, it is all in the original title. The author's conclusion of "Why I am not worried" was based on the facts listed in his article. However, given the gravity of the current situation at the power plant we can assume that even though the facts listed in the article were all correct the author has misinterpreted them and reached a conclusion that that is wrong.

Edit: Think of it as a physic text homework problem. You have various facts listed throughout the problem, but your job is to use a correct formulas applied in the right sequences in order to derive a correct answer (aka interpret data "facts"). Simply re-stating the facts won't give you credit for the problem - the correct answer will (aka "conclusion").

adlep··on Why I am not worried about Japan’s nuclear reactors
And you should read this: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/14/world/asia/14plume.html

If the US Navy is fleeing for cover 60 miles away from the reactors, the situation is SERIOUS.

adlep··on Why I am not worried about Japan’s nuclear reactors
This is a nice article, however: Breaking News: "U.S. Seventh Fleet moves ships, planes away from quake-hit Japanese nuclear plant after discovering low-level radioactive contamination"

I suggest you start worrying. More info here: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/14/world/asia/14plume.html

adlep··on #anon member outs himself through Facebook App ID
Make sure to lock and patch your email server. Also, do not give your root passwords to anyone, including a tech support person. Lock domain access to all of your sites. Analise your contact forms for vulnerabilities. But, I am sure you've already done all of that....right?
adlep··on Technical Co-founder/Advisor Opportunity For StickyFrames
We got a very promising lead from here few days ago, but ultimately Rob could not join due to a schedule constrains. We are both quite web/tech savy, however we do not have a lot of experience with developing complex web services so we'll need a tech lead. Both me and Dustin are willing to do some work on the site, learn, and help with specific function points.
adlep··on Dubai on Empty
Agent Orange? I'd guess that it MAY hamper the population and development growth slightly...
adlep··on Former nuclear reactor operator on Fukushima risks
The sad part is that some people are STILL trying to argue that...
adlep··on Former nuclear reactor operator on Fukushima risks
Well, the reactor is melting right now....so.....
adlep··on Former nuclear reactor operator on Fukushima risks
Lol... This is from one of the comments below the article (I did not write this):

"Feet? Degrees Fahrenheit? This is so funny. How many feet wide is your nuclear reactor core? How many stones does it weigh? Surely this must be a joke.

The article is laden with namedropping but has no information at all on all crucial points such as the actual explosion. That anyone takes this seriously escapes me.

And, seriously? Measurements in body part lengths? Any engineer who went to school must have learned the proper system. I seriously doubt this article is genuine."

I kind of agree. Japanese reactors do not use feet or retarded Fahrenheit scale. If you write a scientific article, use a proper scale and SI standard of measurements in order to be taken seriously (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).

adlep··on [dead]
Re read may comment. It means that the Japanese did their best to prepare. Unfortunately, the nature still manages to find ways to outdo us.
adlep··on [dead]
Apparently these power plants were build to withstand a 7.5 M quake. Unfortunately, that was not good enough...
adlep··on Ask HN: I died 2 times, coma, learned how to walk again, code, now I need advice
Curious: How did you get here? Do you have some relatives that sponsored you? Make sure that you CAN legally stay and work in the US before asking for money and starting business in here. If you don't have regulated status, you can always try to find company that will be willing to sponsor you through their H1B work permit program.
adlep··on Wufoo's First Promotional Video
A little bit looongish, but otherwise very useful. Provides for a simple explanation of what the wufoo service is all about to a broad audience. Quite possibly, a high school cheerleader COULD understand it.
adlep··on You’ll shoot your eye out…with a 1MW laser pulse pistol
So, if a 1MW pulse can shoot through a razor blade, it could also cause a serious wound on a bare skin. I wonder what kind of damage a 10MW pulse would do (aka "laser rifle")?
adlep··on Ask HN: Where could I find a co-founder that wants to change the world?
I am in a similar situation. Good luck to you.
adlep··on [dead]
Its all lie - Facebook is actually worth $ 10 trillion. The Suadi King will have to sell all the underground oil in Arabia in order to afford it.
