adamqureshi··on The Case Against Crypto
ok but who cares if crypto is legit or not. As long as you make money from it? I thought that was the whole game. Yes from the next sucker who will pay more than you , once you figure this out you game the system and make a profit. And move to the next game. I like his blog post. Understand the rules of the game and be a better player.
adamqureshi··on Ask HN: How do you validate demand for your side-project?
The single necessary and sufficient condition for a business, says MIT’s Bill Aulet, is a paying customer.

adamqureshi··on Fasting Improves Physiological and Molecular Markers of Aging (2019)
I have history of diabetes in my family ( south asian) I took the 23andME test and the report said i have a pre-disposition to diabetes at around age 50. I am 50 now. I have been working out running most of my life but started doin less miles and i packed on a few pounds maybe i was like 188-192 and i am 5' 11" About 2 years ago i was diagnosed with pre-diabetes the doctor said you need to get you A1-C down. I was like i have been working out all my life and now this! ok so i started looking into IF ( found some good videos by Dr Jason Fung) so i tried it and started not having breakfast ( I was eating a chocolate croissant from trader joes typically) i went black coffee. Giving up breakfast was damn hard after 6 months i got used to it so the next jump was giving up lunch i got hunger pangs and it was very very painful NOT to eat lunch but to my surprise i got used to NOT eating lunch and fast forward 2 years today i fast all day and my first meal is 5pm and usually a big salad and i feel fantastic all the hunger pangs are gone now i don't know how to explain it but water is sweeter and even black coffee taste sweet to me i am down to like 170 now and have an unusual mental clarity from NOT eating i know it sounds funny but i just do. Headaches go away. IF worked for me and i tell all my friends to at least try it and if you don't feel better than stop. SO I eat around 5pm and last meal and maybe a snack around 9pm. I don't eat after 9pm until the next day 5pm. Next goal is to try a 48 hour fast wish me luck. I feel f-in fantastic! -2cents.
adamqureshi··on Waymo will start testing self-driving cars in New York City
I grew up in New York City. I wish them good lucky messengers delivering packages from uptown to downtown delivery guys on electric bikes are all over the place you can fugaatabout getting through times square ANYTIME of the day its straight up bumper to bumper. Yellow cabs don't even care about bike lanes. Buses in the bus lane ( don't make me laugh) there should be NO CARS allowed in the city ( natives call manhattan "the city" the trains are packed. The streets are JAM packed with people. there are simply too many damn people and not to mention uber / lyft / food delivery guys messengers on foot and on bikes and some take the train. I mean enough is enough. we need less cars and more walking in the city. I don't even want to get into all the trucks in the fashion district you need to see it to believe it. Did i forget to mention yellow cabs? ok good lucky waymo. 2cents.
adamqureshi··on Zillow to stop flipping homes, loses more than $550M, lays off 25% of staff
algo vs algo with boom and BUST cycle and the net effect people get fired. AI is NOT the holy grail. AI will not have ALL the answers , humans still have value and will continue to adapt to the new world order. Innovation should not come at the cost of people. We still need to survive reproduce spend time with our family / friends and put food on the table. And have a lil fun on the way. -2cents
adamqureshi··on Ask HN: What you up to? (Who doesn't want to be hired?)
Im working on this. https://teslatracker.com/ Testing charging $50/year. Its like HN but for a niche topic. Work in progress trying to find product market fit and paying customers. Grinding it to the bone.
adamqureshi··on Facebook Renames to Meta
I wonder who they paid to come with that one. Now they'll further push into making humans slave to the machine. More ads, More AI. More human mining. More content pollution. It's just a big ass ad factory. Its very easy to control sentiment using content bots / farms and convince people to drink the koolaid under the false pretense of bringing them together when in reality all they want todo is serve you more ads and sell your views to the marketing companies who target you everywhere. 2-cent.
adamqureshi··on Get AWS costs posted directly to Slack

adamqureshi··on Nassim Nicholas Taleb Calls Bitcoin a Tulip Bubble Without the Aesthetics
BTC are like casino chips. When you goto Vegas and at the Bellagio you give them $100 and you get back $100 worth of Bellagio chips, those chips only have value INSIDE the Bellagio and if you take those chips outside to a 7-eleven and try to pay for a slurpie and a taquito the 7-eleven guy will tell you to get lost we do not accept Bellagio casino chips. 2-cents. BTC value is an illusion they only hold value inside the BTC network and they are worth what the next sucker will pay for it. Yes you can make money from anyone inside the network who's willing to pay more than you did. Maybe i don't know what im talking about but im not the only one. 2-cents.
adamqureshi··on Tesla Q3 2021 Earnings
The market will be divided. You will have he Direct to consumer (DTC) native EV carmakers taking a software eating the world approach vs the legacy car makers ( franchise dealer model is 100 years old ) this is a classic case of "software IS eating the world". There WILL be blood in the water and not all legacy carmakers will survive the Tsunami. This is exactly what happ with the Apple iphone. Do you see anyone walking around with a nokia, ericsson / motorola / blackeberry? the game in the auto market is changing and it changing fast. The WHOLE ecosystem ( tooling for I.C.E is gonna die out ) Good lucky! and may the best man win. -2cent.
adamqureshi··on Investors use AI to analyse CEOs’ language patterns and tone
Investors are using AI to now figure out if the CEO is making any sense, wow! AI is doing more and more now. AI investing. AI burger flip. AI art. I am sick and tired of hearing about how AI will improve our lives. What about human creativity in a complex world where we need to survive / pay rent / bills AND put food on the table and AI is taking all jobs away along with the creativity and connection that comes with humans spending time with other humans! whats next? AI meeting AI? a battle for who has a more precise prediction model ?- 2 cents.
adamqureshi··on FTC Puts Hundreds of Businesses on Notice about Fake Reviews
if there is a way to game the system a business will try. The reason content social farms exist. You can hire a content farm to inflate your product reviews and increase sales and voila call yourself a growth hacker. My wife spends hours reading reviews before buying a product on amazon, we just bought a coffee machine and she spent hours. Who knows what review is real and what is fake. I suspect soonish there will be an AI to create fake reviews on any e-commerce platform and that platform has another AI to defend / spot the fake reviews. AI vs AI. - 2 cents
adamqureshi··on Amazon copied products and rigged search results to promote its own brands
Amazon is in the business of making money. If their AI notifies them that a product is selling like hot cakes and that product has no brand protection they'll knock it off. Tha is why it is important to build a brand instead of building a product, people buy the brand not the product and thats a different ball game. - 2 cents.
adamqureshi··on Ask HN: Best tip for landing pages?
I don't know what your building but i just started testing this - https://teslatracker.com/ I wrote the copy and didn't waste time thinking too much about it and I already have people signing up and i plan to test charging $50/year . Don't think too much put something up and list the benefits your service provides ( save time) whatever. Get to it! life is in the doing :-)
adamqureshi··on Airbus reveals the next generation of CityAirbus
There is a business use case here in NYC. NYC to the Hamptons or out east long Island. The locals in the Hamptons are complaining about noise pollution from helicopters making trips to the Hamptons from NYC. If this makes little or no noise the current helicopter service companies will use them and people will pay $800 ( off-peak) - $2,500 ( peak) one way trip from the west side of manhattan / Chelsea area to east Hampton / Montauk . If you got the money that is :-)

adamqureshi··on Retailers are spending millions to combat organized theft from stores
Boosting has been going on since the 90's in NYC. Back in the day i used to work on 34th/7th ave in NYC s selling leather jackets in a rinky-dink store about 500 square fee. The boosters came in groups some from Brooklyn some from uptown. They would boost across the street from Macy's and sell the stolen goods right across the street or on the streets. They would go store to small shops and sell Georgio armani , versace to the employees who worked there and to tourists on the streets ( those brands where hot back then) some boosters even started taking orders,. there were independent operators( not with the pack) and others who would roll with the pack. Each booster specialized in boosting a product. Some would only do designer clothing while others would lift electronics and they would sell to tourists on the street or store clerks working in shops, I even bought a nice Armani suite from them one day. They had figured out how to beat all security alarms in macy's and someone then figured out that you could return what you stole from Macy’s without a receipt during the holidays so boosters then started to return what they stole back to Macy’s and Macy’s would cut them a check for it. This was around 1995. Some boosters tried to lift stuff from the store I was working in and I had to go and stop them , one time we had throw down right in front of our store to get the leather jackets back. I even had to go run after a few. Macy’s security guards can’t do jack. The cops had more important things todo I guess. The boosters would grab and bag and just run out the door and into the train and vanish. They had some aluminum foil around the bag they put the stuff in so the alarms did not go off. They would go downtown. Uptown and after the city got to HOT they started going to the suburban malls. It was like a syndicate. I guess it’s still happening now.

adamqureshi··on Tesla Engineer Says Musk Overstated Tesla Autopilot Reality
This is exactly why Tesla should rename full self driving to FUTURE SELF DRIVING. Because thats exactly what it feels like. there should be no mis-understanding. :-)
adamqureshi··on Why I Work on Ads
I have a 1 man shop start up ( marketplace) and i charge an upfront fee to list. The very fist thing an interested party asks me is, what isn't free to list? The big boys platform in this space make it free to list and they make money from ads. A small time guy like me in a niche market has to charge an upfront fee to pay to put food on the table for my family and i don't run ads on my site and i don't use cookies. Most people are so USED to free that it's a shock to them i charge a fee to list on my site. Advertising has SHAPED their behavior. Thats my 2 cents. I have been in business since 2016. Never ran third party ads on my site.
