abrbhat··on Rs 500, Rs 1,000 cash ban: Indian government failed those without bank accounts
The notes in circulation currently are only the old Rs. 100 notes and a few new Rs. 2000 notes. You are right that for small to moderate daily purchases costing between 500-1500, it does not make any sense. The new Rs. 2000 notes are essentially useless for now since no one can give you change for that.
abrbhat··on Google Takes on Uber with New Ride-Share Service
In India, the concept has taken off because of Uber and Ola subsidizing the fares by paying the difference from VC money. The moment they stop subsidizing and start raising prices to make them par with what drivers get paid, the consumers will shift back to auto-rickshaws. If they start dropping prices, the drivers will shift back to inter-city routes.

abrbhat··on Tesla Model S autonomously crashes into a parked trailer while in ‘summon’ mode
Statistical analysis fails for small samples. In a single case, it is never possible to determine what would have happened if there was a human controlling the wheel instead of the autonomous system. With either of those, the accidents will happen, even if rarely. In case of a human controlling the wheel, the punishment meted out to the human acts as a signal to that human and others that they have to be more careful in how they control the vehicle. Therefore, in case of any accident by Tesla's autonomous system, Tesla(or any other autonomous control providing company) should be made to shoulder the blame. So that they are not only prodded to make their systems more robust, but also prodded to design the system to ask for human intervention in case it senses it cannot make a good judgement in the conditions.
abrbhat··on Who Y Combinator Companies Want
I guess the reason that product programmers are most desirable is that most founders are product programmers themselves.

abrbhat··on Ideas are Cheap
Given the fact that it is extremely easy to conjure ideas out of thin air, the better way would be to look for executable solutions to valuable problems.
