Modern leadership practices have become a truly qualitative phenomenon with a lot of feel good conversations. I wish leadership evangelists can support effectiveness of their leadership philosophies using some numbers. Like demonstration of how their version of leadership achieved results x, y, and z. And please let’s not even talk about increasing engagement scores.
FaunaDB is quite amazing. Someone who have used DynamoDB and Cloud DataStore/FireStore extensively, I find FaunaDB is a lot more flexible to build bigger applications with complex data models. Their GraphQL offering is equally good. It works really well with Lambda. Row-level authorisation and other security features are out of the box. Only thing, which stops us to switch to FaunaDB is the lack of search support. Only, if they can stream document changes to Kinesis/PubSub then it can integrate seamlessly with other public cloud services including ElasticSearch.
Good read. Although I don’t quite understand why every few years media companies keep rewriting their content management layer which generally has no impact on company’s top line or bottom line whatsoever. How can these type of investments are justified when all you are doing is recreating exactly same APIs with same data. Am I missing something here?

Excellent, and I am going to try it. But I still think using something like Flume has some advantages mainly because of Hadoop eco-system. For instance you can plug-in the log data to HBase and use Hive to write to high level abstracted queries and run on Hadoop. I am guessing but seems like there are plugins on the way for various systems but not Hadoop.
Update:
Also Flume can use any data stream, for instance Twitter stream so not limited to log Analysis only.
This is what I call as R bias. I am regular user of R but I would never use R to prove the point that this can be done in R. How religious is that? Sorry about my R bashing but users of R need to understand that what kind of problems R suppose to solve.
I could not agree more. I think initial product was developed with focus on Indian IT market where filtering right candidates is big pain. Hereafter whatever I am saying applies to India. In India For 10 jobs you might get 1000-2000 applications, and you can not interview them all, scanning all those CVs is just impossible. This kind of system can work when you are dealing with large number of raw talent. But then chances are majority of candidates are just good for solving puzzles as they prepare months and months just solving sample puzzles. Plus so many exploitable loopholes as you suggested. Regarding complementary businesses, that's already there. As matter of fact there are large number of institutes to help anyone to crack each and every aspect of IT job interview.
End results, I often meet people with 5-10 years of experience who can not write a functional block of code without ctrl-c+v which makes me feel sad.
I think you are going in right direction. Library budget is pain in ass, there is a huge untapped opportunity to disrupt the whole eco-system. Good luck with your Beta.
It's not that bad, you need to execute it extremely well. Last year I tried something in this direction called as MolSeek. Did not work out well, but I think I will try again. I will be keen to listen what you are up-to, only if you think year idea is worth sharing.
Initially I thought they have done this using HTML5 but not. A closer look on source code and then each ball is just image like this one http://www.google.com/events/io/2011/static/img/ball-13acfa...., so lot of them and Javascript to animate them. Quite heavy though.
I small feedback, I am assuming you are using django-authentication which might have few problems,
1. User can register many accounts with same email(make it unique to avoid any problems)
2. While I am authenticated I can still visit register and login pages, may be you want to redirect user to avoid any confusion.
Otherwise looks good to me, just added few slots on my account.
cheers
Thanks Patio, very clear explanation. Is it possible to make a very small transaction as a process to verify the card? (similar to Paypal which deposits $0.01 or similar small amount in your account or card and later ask you to verify that amount). I think my problem lies in category 8, I am more worried about card expiration and credit limits.
Interesting analogy and generalization, I never thought in that way. I think that's true, people are always looking for interesting new ways to invest & waster their time. And certainly a clone of Facebook can not take on Facebook anyway.
Although I am very much impressed by Mark's work, his dedication and particularly the way he is trying to be different from other teens in the same age group is really appreciable. But I am not inspired with his philosophy of 11 startups, my advice please start thinking big (I mean what is that threewords.me thing anyway), you can certainly do better things if you try to keep the larger picture in mind.
