aashay··on Show HN: Beautiful Real-Time Polling On Twitter With Analytics
Is this using Socket.IO by any chance?
aashay··on How to program independent games
As someone who is (usually irrationally) paranoid about optimization, I found this talk to be inspiring. Also, Braid was by far one of the most wonderful gaming experiences I've ever had. So for that, thank you Mr. Blow.
aashay··on SocketStream: a real-time web framework for Node.js
> So how secure is SocketStream? Well, to be honest - we just don't know. The entire stack, from Node.js right up to the SocketStream client is brand new and no part of it is claiming to be production-ready just yet. So for now we recommend using SocketStream internally, behind a firewall.

I must say, I'm excited for this to become more robust, but I appreciate their candor in telling me why I shouldn't use it in production yet. Back to old fashioned socket.io I guess (or maybe NowJS).

aashay··on Tech journalists who make no sense
> I pity anyone who uses Salesforce and decides to leave for greener pastures. It would be a bloody nightmare.

Can you explain how, please? There are simple ways to extract your data from Salesforce (weekly export, bulk APIs, etc). What, per se, would cause said nightmare?

aashay··on Dutch cookie law may lead to online exodus
No love for bad jokes on HN :(
aashay··on Dutch cookie law may lead to online exodus
I was kinda hoping that this was a law about Dutch cookies. Oh well, a boy can dream.
aashay··on Square to Investors: $1 Billion Valuation? Make It $2 Billion.
Now Square just has to figure out a way to disrupt the market for ATM machines in "Cash Only" businesses. There are dozens of local business in Square's own San Francisco that, even given a novel payment solution like Square, refuse to accept credit cards and opt instead to host on-premise ATM machines.
aashay··on Wheels of Steel; Epic demo of rich Web turn table
...why not? There's no Flash. I'd say that's pretty epic.
aashay··on Language.js - A fast PEG parser written in JavaScript
No README?
aashay··on GitHub, Collaboration, and Haters
I think they were trying to cite concrete examples, not exercise any form of revenge. It's not like they called them names or anything.
aashay··on GitHub, Collaboration, and Haters
That makes total sense to me, and I agree with the "terrible experience" part. It does look like they've made some improvements though.

Regardless, SF has been around for a very long time, and one could at least appreciate that they're a pioneer site in open source forge hosting. The humility in the post is pretty evident, and serves as a friendly reminder that this doesn't need to be a competition.

aashay··on GitHub, Collaboration, and Haters
Personally I don't get why there's so much negativity. I love GitHub just as much as the next guy, but I don't see why that makes SourceForge insignificant or irrelevant. Haters gonna hate, I guess :(
