aaaja··on The Gender Attractiveness Gap
Andrea Long Chu's perspective includes celebrated takes like:

> Sissy porn did make me trans.

Also:

> At the centre of sissy porn lies the asshole, a kind of universal vagina through which femaleness can always be accessed. Getting fucked makes you female because fucked is what a female is.

And, according to Chu, the "barest essentials" of "femaleness" are:

> an open mouth, an expectant asshole, blank, blank eyes

All of which I think says a lot about attitudes towards women from this particular subset of males.

aaaja··on Estrogen: A Trip Report
When a male takes estrogen it doesn't undo a lifetime of male sex development and existing as a male, nor does it give him a female reproductive system. So how could taking estrogen grant him an understanding of what it feels like to be the opposite sex?
aaaja··on Estrogen: A Trip Report
> In my experience with trans women I know, they still seem to relate primarily to men (they still gravitate towards male dominated interests) whereas many gay men I know seem to relate primarily with women, and gravitate towards women interests.

Interestingly, this has also been observed and researched by clinical psychologists who study sexuality and gender dysphoria.

A decent summary of the research can be read here: https://4thwavenow.com/2017/12/07/gender-dysphoria-is-not-on...

Note the difference in presentation the authors describe between "childhood-onset gender dysphoria" and "autogynephilic gender dysphoria". The males you refer to as relating primarily to men and gravitating towards male-dominated interests are more likely to be in the latter category.

aaaja··on George Orwell's 1984 and How Power Manufactures Truth
Pregnancy requires a female reproductive system. It is impossible for males to be pregnant.

The reason that "trans men" can become pregnant is because they are female.

aaaja··on MI6 appoints first female chief in 116-year history
It shows that the glass ceiling for this role no longer exists.

Keep in mind that many women and girls have been socially conditioned to believe this type of job is not for them. Headlines like this can be inspirational in pushing back against this conditioning.

aaaja··on Sperm are very different from all other cells
Yes. Sperm cells are haploid. If the sperm that fertilizes the egg has an X chromosome, the baby will be female. If it has a Y chromosome, the baby will be male.

There are rare exceptions for genetic disorders relating to sex development, but generally speaking the above is true.

aaaja··on Twitter's new encrypted DMs aren't better than the old ones
It implies a sexist worldview. Just like using racial slurs imply a racist worldview.
aaaja··on A Case for Feminism in Programming Language Design (2024)
The bulk of low-effort hostile responses to her article in male-dominated spaces like HN really just illustrate her point over and over again.

It is satisfying to read the engaging and curious reflections, like your own. Let us hope for more of these.

aaaja··on Women who hate men: a comparative analysis across extremist Reddit communities
If you think that's bad you should see the ones targeting women. They are much, much worse.

Example: r/womenarethings

The subreddit description:

> Women are things. Objects.

> They should be enjoyed, used, and they should enjoy this treatment without expecting anything in return.

> Women should not have an identity. They are not "I," "me," or "we." Women are "it," plain and simple.

You won't find any sub describing men like this.

aaaja··on Women who hate men: a comparative analysis across extremist Reddit communities
It's part of a wider pattern. Reddit banned a whole load of radical feminist subs and refused to remove the extreme misogynist ones that promote sexual violence like r/DykeConversion and r/DegradingHoles.
aaaja··on Women who hate men: a comparative analysis across extremist Reddit communities
> The rules, especially on reddit, are thus enforced as unequally. Misandry is more than enabled, it's boosted.

One of the subreddits claimed by this paper to be "misandric" was banned by Reddit. That's the opposite of boosting.

aaaja··on Britain's police are restricting speech in worrying ways
It was central to the point she was making. If the police arrested her for saying a man is a man, it would make headlines across the world, and if it went to court her lawyers, who are very good at what they do, would have a field day challenging this law. Most other people do not have anywhere near this level of access to legal support or media coverage.

But as they chose not to arrest her, this shields every other woman who might want to say similar. The argument being: if JKR can say a man is a man with impunity, then why can't anyone else?

So her making these statements of truth was a win either way. But being able to mount a solid defence in court, if needed, was essential to this strategy working.

aaaja··on Dilbert creator Scott Adams says he will die soon from same cancer as Joe Biden
> unfortunately very man-like

Of course, because they are men. Being a man who calls himself a woman is the defining factor of "transwoman".

Most of these men intrude upon or demand access to women's spaces despite knowing that this will cause distress to women and despite having been told no.

It is a particularly threatening type of man that chooses to do this. The only reason that anyone lets these men get away with it is because they call themselves women and, because of misogynistic attitudes, their demands are valued more than women's needs.

aaaja··on Dilbert creator Scott Adams says he will die soon from same cancer as Joe Biden
No it's not. Latest tweet is a retweet about the assisted dying bill going through Parliament. Next is about women's rights to single-sex spaces in context of the recent Supreme Court ruling.

Three tweets down is a retweet about an LGB conference. The tweet before that is about her taking legal action against libellous statements.

A few more tweets down from that is something about a man who fought a polar bear off with a saucepan.

aaaja··on Dilbert creator Scott Adams says he will die soon from same cancer as Joe Biden
Yes, I am aware that the commenter I replied to is framing JKR's advocacy for women's rights, some of which she conducts on social media, as "culture war nonsense".

I commented because I disagree with this dismissive and condescending presentation of her work in this area.

CAIS is a better example. Even then it's overrepresented in athletic competition compared to the general population.

Swyer syndrome isn't a condition compatible with an athletic career because of the bone weakening caused by hormone deficiency.

aaaja··on I decided to pay off a school’s lunch debt
Sports governing bodies in the UK are rapidly rewriting their policies to stop these men from competing in women's sports, after a recent Supreme Court judgement ruled this amounts to unlawful sex discrimination against women. So hopefully this ongoing insult to all the women who've worked so hard to compete in their sport of choice will soon be over.

That said, the ideal outcome would be apologies to every female athlete affected by this, and for these men to be retrospectively disqualified and stripped of any medals or titles, with these instead being awarded to the women who would have won had these men not been competing. I doubt this will happen any time soon, but if those running these competitions had an ounce of integrity and sense of fair play, they would do.

aaaja··on East German Stasi Tactics – Zersetzung (2021)
I expect the holder of that witch-burning placard is very much aware that "JK" will be taken to mean "JK Rowling". It's no coincidence.

That so many of these activists are holding signs which advocate the torture and murder of women who disagree with them says everything about their movement.

aaaja··on First baby born in UK to woman with transplanted womb
Have you found that other adoptees feel similarly about or at least are more sympathetic to your ideas?
aaaja··on First baby born in UK to woman with transplanted womb
What would be the point of that? I'd be surprised if it got past an ethics committee.

Aside from this, the male pelvis isn't shaped to accommodate a womb, and males don't have the hormonal milieu to enable pregnancy.

The closest that researchers have come to having a male gestate a foetus was in rats. But they had to connect the bloodstream of the male rat to a pregnant female rat, where both were implanted with embryos at the same time. Even then, it worked less than 5% of the time.

aaaja··on First baby born in UK to woman with transplanted womb
You may be thinking of species like the white-throated sparrow. These have two morphs with distinct behaviours which lead to there being four mating combinations. Still two sexes though.
aaaja··on First baby born in UK to woman with transplanted womb
The woman in the article has a DSD that only affects female sex development. Plus she has working ovaries. From either of these facts one can conclude that she is female.

I don't know why you think this is a conservative lie. It is not.

aaaja··on First baby born in UK to woman with transplanted womb
> I would like to reflect on the timing of this - the UK Supreme Court just ruled something about a woman is a “biological” definition - and I am willing to put a lot of money on many people on both sides of that contentious debate struggling with the idea that "someone born without a womb is a woman" and "hey we can transplant wombs now"

MRKH syndrome is a disorder of female sex development, and if you look at this from the perspective of developmental biology it's clear that anyone affected by this must be a woman. I feel it shouldn't be too hard an idea to struggle with.

That they have a working womb transplant technique is impressive from a medical technology point of view but I think not enough has been said about the ethics of this experimentation.

Personally I wouldn't risk exposing my baby to transplant anti-rejection drugs. We don't know how this may impact the short-term or long-term health of the baby.

aaaja··on Discord's face scanning age checks 'start of a bigger shift'
They're not synonymous but a vast amount of pornography available online constitutes violence against women.

The commercial sex trade, including both porn and prostitution, is a multi-billion dollar industry that seeks to normalize extreme acts and promotes the dehumanisation of women and girls.

aaaja··on UK Equalities watchdog inundated with questions on trans women ruling
> Most organisations have not yet committed to concrete changes but have pledged to review the judgment.

I think there's a real risk that organizations are going to drag their heels on this and then do not even the bare minimum, likely finding themselves in breach of the law.

It'll probably take a few more court cases and tribunals where such organizations are eviscerated by the judiciary for the message to sink in that women's rights in law are not to be downplayed, ignored or dismissed.

aaaja··on UK Supreme Court rules legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex
The law does actually protect trans-identifying individuals via the "gender reassignment" characteristic. So for instance an employer can't disadvantage an employee for having that protected characteristic.

What the Supreme Court clarified the law doesn't do is grant them additional privileges, like access to spaces designated solely for the opposite sex.

aaaja··on UK Supreme Court live: trans women are not legally women, judges rule
Well they are women - specifically, women who call themselves men - so this is not a problem.
