aPoCoMiLogin··on Framework 13 AMD 7040 Series: A Developer's First Impressions
i've got the Intel AX210 WiFi/BT (bundled with asrock b650e pg-itx). as for WiFi it worked out of box, but the drivers for BT are horrible, some of my devices aren't recognized (while bt-usb dongle works fine), and there are plenty of other issues like disconnecting or buffering keystrokes from keyboard.. so i've had to disable the Intel AX210 combo in bios, to keep my system stable. for the WiFi part it's ok, otherwise i'd recommend to wait for better BT support on linux.
aPoCoMiLogin··on Tell HN: Postman update removes all your stuff if you refuse to create account
the mac client probably wont, as they were already bought by rapidapi.com and made web-based client that looks like PAW but has the same issues as other web-based solution
aPoCoMiLogin··on Tell HN: Postman update removes all your stuff if you refuse to create account
yeah, this one is the only thing that i'm missing after migration to linux box. the extensions and ability to write own extensions is very powerful, the speed and native UI were very welcomed, as postman and other electron based tools are just way too heavy for me.
aPoCoMiLogin··on Caps Lock Behaviour Disabled in Gnome
holy shit, for years I've though that the capslock is just bugged, usually had to press it twice, because it didn't register, but other keys were working correctly.

what a stupid hidden behaviour, no wonder that the whole apple ecosystem is pissing me off.

EDIT: had to search for it, just can't believe how stupid it is: https://www.reddit.com/r/macbook/comments/o6q52c/mba_m1_caps...

aPoCoMiLogin··on The only planet where 100% of Linux systems have working audio is Mars
automatic switching from A2DP (headphones) to HSP/HFP (handsfree) doesn't work most of the time [1]. the drivers for BT or other audio cards are bad as hell, so everything else isn't working as it should.

aPoCoMiLogin··on SpaceX no longer taking losses to produce Starlink satellite antennas
i'm not sure what is the source of that but I've noticed that a lot of people has the need to take everything personally, and can't separate things.

for example I really like tom cruise as an actor, one of my personal top 10, but I don't like what he is doing in his private life (the cult thing). so what i'm doing is separating things and take what I like, and ignore (to some extent) what I don't like.

I feel like you guys take things way to serious, and expect everything to be perfect, which is not possible.

aPoCoMiLogin··on Following Elon Musk’s lead, Big Tech is surrendering to disinformation
That's different case IMO, and the ban did more publicity than good. So where are the other cases of bans?
aPoCoMiLogin··on Following Elon Musk’s lead, Big Tech is surrendering to disinformation
Not an Elon fan but citation needed
aPoCoMiLogin··on Why do people seem to prefer Chrome's devtools over Firefox's?
currently FF has comparable devtools, but back in the day, FF was lacking a lot of features, like websocket inspection which was implemented around 2019 [1] where in chrome you could do that since 2011 via net-internals (i'm unable to find the date when it was implemented in devtools). so I think because of thing like these, the popularity of chrome devtools was just getting bigger and bigger.

aPoCoMiLogin··on What is a PID controller in an espresso machine?
spot on, most ppl think that the beans are just bad, but making good coffee is complicated, and controlling variables is the key.

I recommend to make espresso right to some glass with ice (not much) and drink that with oat milk, or oat+dairy milk; currently it's my goto coffee that I really enjoy on hot days.

aPoCoMiLogin··on What is a PID controller in an espresso machine?
dedicated storage like this one [1] keeps the milk ready to use at all times, and minimizes the risk that someone in a hurry forgets to put the milk back to the fridge after making a coffee.

nvidia dropped nvlink from their consumer cards, so for the consumer nvidia and amd cards it would work the same - trough PCIE
aPoCoMiLogin··on Ask HN: What are some low cost payment processing alternatives to Stripe?
also you need to include the payment gateway, like authorize.net ($25 month, $0.1 trancastion) or something else
aPoCoMiLogin··on Ask HN: What are some low cost payment processing alternatives to Stripe?
https://recurly.com/ maybe, I can't find this in their pricing page, but from what I know it looks like this: revenue fee 0.500% transaction fee $0.08 and selected plan (there is free one); with your volume that would be around $3.2k a month in fees.

aPoCoMiLogin··on Music Company Asks Google to Delist 'YouTube Downloader' Wikipedia Article
its more like download in netflix/spotify where the downloaded content is on your device but not directly accessible, only via the application (or website).

the 16" version can swap trackpad, keyboard etc, so I assume there will be at some point trackpad with buttons

aPoCoMiLogin··on Postman Flows: the next generation of software development
well it can eat around 300mb of ram, but its still very responsive and fast, so I don't mind that, but that's not lightweight, unless postman tops that and eats much more ram, then sure, rapidapi is lightweight
aPoCoMiLogin··on Ask HN: Is Google Slowly Dying?
how is that there is a lot of fuss about bad search results, but there is no screenshots/screencasts that show the query and the result ? or the overly exaggerated comments that there is only spam in the results and nothing more, which is hardly believable.

for me the search result is getting better, sometimes im looking for generic words via right click "search google for <word>" and the results are really contextual, like google is considering the page that i'm currently looking at, wichi sometimes surprises me a lot.

aPoCoMiLogin··on OpenAI tech gives Microsoft's Bing a boost in search battle with Google
some engineers != all engineers, that's classic unrepresentative sample. nice it helps you, hope you won't forget how to code in future, or you will be handicapped in case of openapi outage.
aPoCoMiLogin··on OpenAI tech gives Microsoft's Bing a boost in search battle with Google
it depends how and what you are searching for, I've seen some "spam" with stackoverflow clonse, but that seems to be gone now mostly. I also think that you are exaggerating a lot, otherwise citation needed.
