_salmon··on The LaTeX fetish (2016)
To be fair, Markdown tables are a pain too
_salmon··on How to Block Stingray Devices
While the idea behind the app is great, that one specifically is abandoned and should be considered non-working.
_salmon··on Fridge 0.2
Seems strange to call it a "zero-battery-use fridge" and then follow it with "It ties into the typical offfgrid system of a solar charge controller, battery bank, and photovoltaic panels"
_salmon··on Facebook's seized files published by MPs

_salmon··on Alphabet Backs GitLab's Quest to Surpass Microsoft's GitHub
That's all well and good, but by your own admission you're still having outages nearly once a week on average
_salmon··on Mermaidjs: create diagrams and flowcharts from text
Just tried using this for a project last week. Whatever algorithm it uses for positioning nodes is terrible. You end up with a huge confusing spaghetti mess of a diagram.
_salmon··on Senator Asks US Agencies to Remove Flash from Government Websites
I wish I could adopt Ron as my state's senator.
_salmon··on Someone Uploaded What Look to Be Apple’s Internal iPhone Repair Videos
These look like they probably came from Apple's GSX (Global Service Exchange) system.

_salmon··on Internet is losing its memory: Cerf
The Archive Team has been doing this work for at least 10 years. If you'd like to help archive the internet, they have an easy-to-use tool you just run and let work in the background.

_salmon··on [dead]
Isn't all the code on GitHub so anyone could continue working on it?
_salmon··on Vermont passes first law to crack down on data brokers
Through the article, I looked at Acxiom and it seems like they have an opt-out form. Who knows if they actually obey it but they probably have your data anyway so it's worth a shot: https://isapps.acxiom.com/optout/optout.aspx
_salmon··on How technology has redefined the job of the repo man
I assume that's where the scanners are mounted.
_salmon··on Introducing Visual Studio IntelliCode
Some of this sounds dangerously close to a keylogger...

Is there a reason this project isn't just an open-source website as opposed to a Python project?

Minority Report. Literally.
_salmon··on Misconfigured FTP, SMB, Rsync, and S3 Buckets Exposing 1.5B Files
Correct, a lot of sites have their static files hosted in s3 buckets.

Also, shameless plug for my tool if you want to go bucket hunting: https://github.com/sa7mon/S3Scanner

_salmon··on Amazon S3 Select Is Generally Available (April 2018)
Does this work for finding all objects in a bucket that match a criteria?

i.e. SELECT name FROM myBucket where object.name LIKE '%.log'

_salmon··on Show HN: S3Scanner – Find and dump open S3 buckets
Hmm, I'm not sure because I'm not sure what pseudo-folders are in this case.

Under the hood, the --dump function calls 'aws s3 sync s3://bucket ./bucket' so however aws-cli handles that.

Admittedly, the --dump function is the area that probably needs the most attention.

This is the first project I've created that I've actually put a lot of time into. If you find bugs or have ideas for improvements, please open an issue or a PR!
_salmon··on China builds ‘world’s biggest air purifier’ and it seems to be working
Has it not been completely built? The article features a few pictures of it under construction and then an artist's impression of how it would look.
