_k··on Choosing Hong Kong Is a Brilliant Move by Edward Snowden
My guess is someone gave him advice on it because at first sight Hong Kong isn't the most obvious choice at all. The infographic explains how it all works but if someone had asked me something like that, I wouldn't even be able to answer it for my own country.
_k··on Congressman requests subpoena of NSA’s White House, IRS phone logs
I wonder if we can ask for something similar in Europe. I live in Belgium and the government is snooping. Not on a similar scale. But it does happen without a warrant. It's all legal because the changed the constitution. I'm not sure what can be done about it. It might be against the EU constitution. I don't really know where to start. But I do want to stop it.
_k··on Does America need a Pirate Party?
I think the name is easily misunderstood.
_k··on NSA revelations only 'the tip of the iceberg,' says Dem lawmaker
The Guardian interviewed Snowden for an entire week. We've seen 10 minutes of it.
_k··on 22 American nuclear bombs are stored in The Netherlands
They have nuclear bombs in Belgium as well. It has been in the news, they are probably in Kleine Brogel.
_k··on Hong Kong Baffled by Snowden’s Hideout
I think he was in Hong Kong for the interview. If he wasn't, the government would use it against him in an attempt to make him look like a liar, an enemy of the state.
_k··on Hong Kong Baffled by Snowden’s Hideout
He might have an insurance policy. After all, he had access to other data so if they lock him up, they risk problems bigger than they could ever imagine. He may have written a program that releases the information on a certain date. Or someone else has a backup and knows what to do with it.

Either that or he's no longer in Hong Kong, sort of like what McAfee did, tell everyone where he's at when he's really no longer there. So when Snowden tells the CIA their office is across the street, it's no more than a tactic to mislead the CIA.

Either that, or he hasn't thought this through at all and I find that hard to believe.

_k··on Edward Snowden: the whistleblower behind revelations of NSA surveillance
He said he had access to other information. He didn't copy it. No way to know if that's correct. But the CIA is not gonna believe him so their next step is finding out what else Edward has. My guess is he has more and at least one other person is involved as a backup.

So what's next ?

The CIA will want to have a word with him before they decide what their next move will be because he's holding the cards and they don't know what they look like.

_k··on Why a veteran web developer finally turned to OS-native apps
It all depends on what kind of app you're building. Lots of people are telling me most apps are crap and they say they use no more than 5 - 10 apps : Mail, Maps, Messages, Camera, Twitter, Music and the browser. If you're building a podcast app, then you should absolutely build a native app.

_k··on How Google Authorship decreased our traffic by 90%
I would love to hear more on this. Are others seeing this problem as well and what photo are they using ?

My first thought when seeing the photo was ok, this is a guy giving his opinion on the topic, I'm not interested in opinion, I want the facts. Can companies act like an author on G+ ?

_k··on Goodbye SEOmoz. Hello Moz
Their prices are too expensive for SMBs. I also wish they would give us a tool like Google analytics. The combination would probably make it better. Next : the CRM market.
_k··on The declining profitability of Google Adwords
Costs go up because of competition. Costs go up because Google gives a $ 100 for every new Adwords customer, this inflates the prices. Costs go up because there're more ads, not just on the right side. People are less likely to buy when there's a recession.
_k··on Margins on website development are shrinking
That makes sense, if there's a market for it. It depends on where you live.
_k··on Margins on website development are shrinking
I disagree somewhat because lots of people I know have a broad range of experience and deep knowledge but the market for it is shrinking. They do get calls when things go wrong but other than that, there's not much going on. Some made the jump to app development but the market's just not there anymore. That may sound strange to those living in the valley but that's just the way it is. Some are now teaching others and that seems to be profitable.
_k··on Margins on website development are shrinking
True. But you're competing with Foursquare and GoDaddy websites for $ 1 / month. I don't recommend people use those services but in the end that's what you're competing with. Compare that to setting up a website with Drupal.
_k··on Margins on website development are shrinking
Where I live I can clean my car for $ 8 if I drive to a place and do it all by myself. It will take me an hour to drive there, clean it and get back.

I can get it cleaned at the carwash for around $ 21, that will take me 40 minutes.

Or I can make an appointment and give my car to a guy who cleans it for me, the cost is $ 35 and it takes me 10 minutes.

They all make good money. Even the guy who charges $ 35. But none of it is 'premium'. There's a guy in Derbyshire, England. He charges £ 7200. Now that's premium. But the market's too small for premium. At least where I live.

_k··on Margins on website development are shrinking
When things break ... but websites for SMBs break less and less.
_k··on Margins on website development are shrinking
They feel offended ? When they buy a new car, how does that make them feel ? It's very similar, imo. You can buy a car as is or you can customize it somewhat but you never start from scratch. You start from an existing design.
