_andrei_··on Show HN: LangCSS – An AI Assistant for Tailwind
Your logic is flawed. Tailwind didn't make something so complicated that it needs an "AI". The author decided to use Tailwind, probably because of the same reason other LLM-based code generators use it - it's verbose and close to the markup, increasing the chances of getting it right.
_andrei_··on GitHub was down
Yes, everything is down https://www.githubstatus.com/
_andrei_··on Ask HN: Best AI Code Assistant?
Not sure why this was downvoted, Supermaven is miles ahead of everyone else, and it was created by the same people that made Tabnine (which was the first of its kind, and that they sold later).
_andrei_··on LangChain Is a Black Box
Get rid of it, Langchain really doesn't do anything you can't easily do yourself.

_andrei_··on It's not just you, Next.js is getting harder to use
Been working with React for the past 9 years and I hate what Vercel's influence has done to it. I hate what they've done to Next as well, but at least that one is theirs.
_andrei_··on Announcing the Open Release of Stable Diffusion 3 Medium
Did anyone figure out what " Limited commercial license" means? FAQ is pretty rushed ("What commercial uses of the Creator License Agreement?")
_andrei_··on An infinite canvas for code exploration
Great to see this, I'm working on something similar but local and LSP-powered.

Webpack is legacy.
_andrei_··on Show HN: FileKitty – Combine and label text files for LLM prompt contexts
Ah wasn't aware, nice work!
_andrei_··on Show HN: FileKitty – Combine and label text files for LLM prompt contexts
Pretty nice, made a CLI app for this as well, seems like a common need: https://github.com/3rd/promptpack

But sending whole files isn't always optimal, I'm thinking there has to be a better way, like picking workspace symbols and pulling in only the code they depend on from other files. Something something LSP/tree-sitter-based.

_andrei_··on Show HN: I made a CLI tool to create web extensions with no build configuration
very cool, also check out https://www.plasmo.com/
_andrei_··on Show HN: Device-Bound Session Tokens in JavaScript
If the user has malware can't that steal the private key as well? Why is it hard to exfil if the attacker has full access?
_andrei_··on Show HN: Device-Bound Session Tokens in JavaScript
doesn't this only protect against MITM attacks?
_andrei_··on Claude 3 beats GPT-4 on Aider's code editing benchmark
The prompt also matters a lot, this is just a review of GPT vs Claude models for the Aider prompts. In my experience, with some fairly extensive prompts, Opus eats GPT-4's lunch, with the quality difference being huge.

_andrei_··on Incident report for February 21st, 2024
I hate it that some companies focus more now on how their product's website looks than on the product itself, its quality and stability. I also hate it that users are so used to having issues, errors, and their data leaked, that a startup can cut all the corners and do things completely the wrong way, and still have success. I hate that because I couldn't do it. Last month Resend leaked a database API key [0] from their env, how is that even possible? Now a developer tried to run a migration locally and did it on production, again, WHY is that possible? How can you talk about enterprise plans, SLAs, ACL features, when you can't do the basics right? What's it gonna be next month?

Same experience, it refuses to provide any implementation details in some cases, like GPT-4.
_andrei_··on Launch HN: Zenfetch (YC W23) – Turn notes/browser history into an AI assistant
And can we opt out of the extension injecting things into pages? I don't want your summary, Kagi does it for me without tainting the page, I don't want to chat about this page, I don't want anything but to send this page into kind of a bookmark place, and you to scrape it and give me a smart search.
_andrei_··on Launch HN: Zenfetch (YC W23) – Turn notes/browser history into an AI assistant
Readwise's Reader is the best annotation tool, they integrated the great highlighting UX of Reflect, but also did a decent job on how you then manage what you highlight. I don't want to click two buttons to ingest an url into both Zenfetch and Readwise, are you planning an integration / open API?
_andrei_··on Bard is now Gemini, and we’re rolling out a mobile app and Gemini Advanced
Same for me, what a blunder.
_andrei_··on Tell HN: GitHub no longer readable without JavaScript

_andrei_··on I made an app that runs Mistral 7B 0.2 LLM locally on iPhone Pros
What we're seeing here might be classic case of the iOS Freedom Choking Syndrome: when a device's lack of freedom spreads to its owner and chokes cerebral circulation.

Monaco works fine on mobile, just used it for https://tsdiagram.com
_andrei_··on In 2024, please switch to Firefox
Problem is it's not the best browser out there, Chromium is. I wanted to switch to Firefox many times, and while for regular websites it's ok, the performance in more complex web apps simply sucks. And the developer tools are dogsh* compared to Chromium's.
