What the hell, I don't even think that's theoretically possible considering their network speeds. Like even if you were downloading 1 22gb file that would take hours
The ability to manipulate objects is great to foster understanding of our world and development of spacial visualization. Apparently there are some people who don't understand how to properly put an air filter cover back on in their car because they don't understand it just needed to be rotated 90 degrees, which is honestly incredibly sad.
The benefits come from brain development and understanding how things work together which, if you want to think about it in monetary terms, helps in any industry. Everything is an interacting system.
Downvote? Cute, does that equate to social pressure to consume ethanol?
Any alcohol consumption increases the incidence of multiple types of cancers, the primary metabilite (ethanal/acetaldehyde) causes damage to DNA.
I can bond with people over my passion for the sciences, I prefer to avoid increasing my risk of cancers. No NMDA antagonist needed.
"The evidence indicates that the more alcohol a person drinks—particularly the more alcohol a person drinks regularly over time—the higher his or her risk of developing an alcohol-associated cancer. Even light drinkers (those who have no more than one drink per day) and binge drinkers have a modestly increased risk of some cancers (3–7). Based on data from 2009, an estimated 3.5% of cancer deaths in the United States (about 19,500 deaths) were alcohol related (8)."

We tried banning everything else and that still isn't working out lol
The black market of current day mirror that of alcohol prohibition. No controls on products and rampant violence
How can we help this information proliferate?
This is a very recent document, coming from the recent session of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) (62nd session, March 14-15 2019)
It seems that people are finally realizing that harm reduction is the way to move forward out of the human-rights tragedy that is the war on drugs.
The reason I made the statement was because the article said
'"This is one in a series of papers on the possibility of violating the second law of thermodynamics. That law is closely related to the notion of the arrow of time that posits the one-way direction of time from the past to the future," said the study's lead author Gordey Lesovik, who heads the Laboratory of the Physics of Quantum Information Technology at MIPT.'
When I don't see how violating the second law could even be a possibility.
I think what you're trying to refer to is the ability of the prefrontal cortex to send inhibitory signals to the amygdala. This should not be considered "willpower" because that term implies we have control over it, as was discussed in the article. By these definitions free will and willpower are essentially the same non existent phenomena.
So after learning not to hurt others, do you have impulses to do so? Before you learned not to hurt others, did you act on those impulses? Do you even remember?
information is constantly being checked against previous learned experiences, when your mother told you it was not okay to hit someone this became one of those experiences. it isn't some magical "willpower" or "free will"
I don't think will is required for people to not be pieces of shit, that doesn't make sense. You can learn the information "keeping slaves is bad, because it hurts people" but the concept of will does not fit into that equation. Or are you just trying to say that you would have slaves if willpower didn't exist?
Misleading title. Article is about how microbes fit into evolutionary theory. Evolution itself does not change the way it "treats" anything. It is what it is, what changes is what WE, as humans, think is going on.
I guess the question then would be do you care THAT much about money or do you want to help further humanity's knowledge? Plus private R&D can pay quite nicely, people only seem to consider University research as "science work" when that is absolutely not the case, its just the worst compensated science work. (which is another problem, because for the information we get it SHOULD be well compensated)
