I am probably not the average computer user. I didn’t even receive this notification, but just reading about this makes me reconsider switching my devices from Apple to open source software. I have every possible ad blocked and I have been a happy user of Apple devices so far. But this behavior feels so scammy and cheap, not worthy of a premium brand.
Eventually, we will figure out how to turn plants into milk then the cows themselves will be replaced by machines. If you think about it a cow stable is just a huge bioreactor, plants in on one side milk out on the other side.
I think with these erratic changes, the US government is paralyzing the economy. How are businesses supposed to restructure their supply lines if policy changes every 48h?
I think the main issue is that you can't fully control what an llm will output. If Apple products output wrong/silly/dangerous content it is in the news and big reputation hit for them, whereas for a small ai startup people don't really care. Apple likes to have full control over the user experience.
Same happened to me. After visiting many doctors, the last one told me he still has no idea what could cause my symptoms. After that, I uploaded all my test results to ChatGPT. Got the diagnosis right away. Asked it what test I could do to confirm it. Went back to the doctor. Did the test. Confirmed the diagnosis and started treatment.
I think Elon Musk will try very hard for OpenAI to not get any government contracts and with being in charge of government technology via Doge he has a good chance of succeeding.
They had a win/win situation before. The news sites got free traffic and social media got free content. I don’t understand why they made this law but the outcome was predictable.
Thanks for the clarification. I was wondering about that driver facing camera. Didn’t know that the 2019 model didn’t have it. Other OEMs use infrared sensors for that. A camera is a bit spooky to me from a privacy standpoint. Nevertheless Teslas newer models should be able to prevent this situation with it.
We had a HP Printer for a long time and it was a nightmare. After it broke down, i noticed that Epson was the first company to make a printer with ink tanks, while the others where still arguing that its not possible because the ink would dry out. I figured this must be the least evil printer company then. It's been working fine for now. Also no need to buy third party ink because the original is reasonably priced. By now the others also offer printers with tanks.
One major factor is ignoring evidence based medicine. In India you can still commonly buy traditional medicines which have heavy metals like lead and mercury as ingredients.
But what about all the small, independent forums in the internet? For them it would really be impossible to comply with monitoring every post. Often they are hobby projects.
I have done extensive research in past when i was considering switching from mac to linux. Came to the conclusion that there is no viable open source alternative for the mac preview app unfortunately. My requirements where:
- Fill forms.
- Add text and markup.
- Reorganize/add/remove pages.
- Redact parts of the document. (should also safely delete underlying text data, without rasterization of the whole document)
- Add image of signature without rasterization of the whole document.
This [1] is a long discussion i found about the topic.
Germany actually has the second highest tax rates of the developed world. [1]
Also it is written in our constitution that the budget has to be balanced except in extreme cases like pandemic, natural disaster or war. Our problem is that companies are leaving because of high tax and energy costs.

I use this to aggregate some RSS feeds. Also to generate a feed out of the HTML from sites that don't have a feed. Then i just publish the result as GitHub Pages and add this link to my reader.
Thanks for this instruction it got me going on that idea.
I really like this german channel for bike repairs: https://www.youtube.com/@nlz.fahrrad
It also shows tricks to improvise if you don't have all the tools. Doesn't upload that often though.
If i read this correctly they will also be delisted from google search, which is almost equivalent to being erased from the internet nowadays. The newspaper business model seems to be broken but i don't think this is the way to fix it.
This looks like a brilliant idea. Unfortunately, many websites that started out as social-networks have turned into places of “creators” seeking attention to make money on ads. Because of a bad incentive structure. It seems Twitter is now heading this direction as well. This extension might help to bring a bit of sanity back to the web. I also enjoy using the SponsorBlock extension made by the same guy.
