YeahThisIsMe··on The Storm Hits the Art Market
It's not a "conflict" and there will not be a peaceful resolution of it.
YeahThisIsMe··on How Not to Buy a SSD
The one that only tells you whether it's shipped by Amazon (pooled) or directly from the seller?
YeahThisIsMe··on Claude says “You're absolutely right!” about everything
It doesn't think
YeahThisIsMe··on GPT-5 leaked system prompt?
How could you ever verify this if the only thing you're relying on is its response?
YeahThisIsMe··on Digital vassals? French Government ‘exposes citizens’ data to US'
>saying it no longer served EU interests due to the US president’s “impulsive” nature.

I'd say that if whether or not an agreement serves the EU's interests entirely depends on who the US president is, then it's not an agreement that serves the EU's interests.

YeahThisIsMe··on The first time I was almost fired from Apple
This is the result of advice being rejected too many times (and later turning out to have been correct).
YeahThisIsMe··on Apple's Liquid Glass is prep work for AR interfaces, not just a design refresh
You absolutely did want all of that until the novelty of Windows Aero wore off.

Of course, now that Apple has invented it, it will be completely different.

YeahThisIsMe··on The Gruen Transfer is consuming the internet
Google just changes and ignores your search terms and then serves you the results to whatever it wants instead.
YeahThisIsMe··on As 'Bot' Students Continue to Flood In, Community Colleges Struggle to Respond
Just as ridiculous as paying people for remote work.

It's just not reasonable when they're not even traveling to the office.

YeahThisIsMe··on Electron band structure in germanium, my ass (2001)
This is the complete opposite of my experience.

You always got partial credit even if you made a mistake as long as the following results were achieved using the correct method and with the correct calculations despite one of the inputs being wrong due to a previous error.

YeahThisIsMe··on How each pillar of the First Amendment is under attack
Can you explain what that's supposed to mean and provide some examples?
YeahThisIsMe··on DeepSeek Open Infra: Open-Sourcing 5 AI Repos in 5 Days
Because the country on the other side of the world benefits from yours losing stability and influence.
YeahThisIsMe··on Add "fucking" to your Google searches to neutralize AI summaries
It just takes a generation of people growing up with it until it really takes hold. People didn't use to ask Google questions, either, but now you're the outlier if you try using search terms instead.
YeahThisIsMe··on Ask HN: Organize local communities without Facebook?
Is this a joke comment?
YeahThisIsMe··on Breaking the 4Chan CAPTCHA
We've been stuck at that point for at least 5, if not 10, years.
YeahThisIsMe··on Defibrillation devices save lives using 1k times less electricity
I assume it means 1/1000th because the phrase makes zero sense.
YeahThisIsMe··on Eye Contact Correction: Redirecting the eyes to look at the camera
I agree with this.

I don't actually want the person I'm talking to to appear to be looking directly into my eyes because it's weird - it means they're looking at the camera and not at me on the screen, talking to them.

YeahThisIsMe··on SpaceX launches mission for 2 NASA astronauts who are stuck on the ISS
But there's no emergency situation at the moment.
YeahThisIsMe··on The Art Of Niwaki (2017)
Another good one is the famed "Zaratsu polishing" on watches, named simply for the manufacturer of the polishing machines (Sallaz).
YeahThisIsMe··on ESPN AI recap of Alex Morgan’s final professional match fails to mention her
But sports reporting has pretty much always been this way.

Unless anything extraordinary happens, every post game interview features the same questions with the same answers and every article about the game looks the same with only the names of the participating players and their stats changing.

YeahThisIsMe··on Defcon stiffs badge HW vendor, drags FW author offstage during talk
Every niche convention either stops existing or transitions into a business that slowly gets rid of all the fun stuff that created it in the first place.
YeahThisIsMe··on Study: Consumers Actively Turned Off by AI
People also like privacy, and most of the time "AI" means "your stuff is going to our servers".

I don't need or want that from most applications, especially a photo viewer.

YeahThisIsMe··on Researcher finds flaw in a16z website that exposed some company data
>You aren't legally obligated to give them anything,

Acktchually, depending on where you live, you might be.

YeahThisIsMe··on Multiple airlines disrupted due to Microsoft Azure outage
How would that change anything about Windows market share?
YeahThisIsMe··on A new company is shipping Arctic ice from Greenland to Dubai
If you can taste the ice cubes in your drink, there's probably something wrong with them.
YeahThisIsMe··on ChatGPT just (accidentally) shared all of its secret rules
The next step is pretending to count to three if it doesn't follow the instructions.
YeahThisIsMe··on Turn On, Tune In, Write Code
Actually that's a picture of Joe Rogan and for that reason I'm out.
YeahThisIsMe··on Scrabble, Anonymous
Be the start of a board game family you wish to see in the world.
YeahThisIsMe··on ADSL works over wet string (2017)
Has to be, it would explain my experience.
YeahThisIsMe··on Tesla's 2M car Autopilot recall is now under federal scrutiny
That's how airbags work in general.

A slight bump won't set off your airbag in any car.
