Yadi··on Danielle Morrill: Mattermark CEO. Early Riser. Boredom Killer.
This is awesome story! She is indeed a rockstar and a role model for founding startups!

Good stuff right here:

too many people just accept the idea that their job is going to suck, or work is going be boring. It seems, she said, that the world wants people to fall in line and get a job just so they can make money to be able to go do something else that's actually enjoyable.

Yup that is the kindda CEO you want to have if you were to join a startup.

Yadi··on Secret Shuts Down
I've a question! Maybe totally unrelated, but isn't it always a bad sign when founders sell their shares before even reaching 1 year?

Doesn't that put a red flag on how the investors should look into it? Or it's just the hype & hockey stick presentations that doesn't matter to some investors?

Yadi··on Messenger Orbiter Comes to a Crashing End on Thursday
That is pretty rad! Kudos, thanks for info.
Yadi··on Messenger Orbiter Comes to a Crashing End on Thursday
Thanks for sharing this link!

Congrats, it must feel awesome to be a part something like this and sad to see come to an end.

May I ask what parts of the project were you working on at the time?

Also, I read about MESSENGER's mission here:

https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/missions/profile.cfm?Sort=Targe...

Did it accomplish all the missions?

Yadi··on Show HN: Startup Timelines

Yadi··on Pure Python Vim clone

Yadi··on Ask HN: SaaS vs. build it yourself when launching a startup
Very interesting question I'm curious to know about this as well, because I just found that there is a company that sells delivery management as a service.

https://onfleet.com/

However, to answer to your question in more detail I would say:

User management & Delivery management/tracking.

Those two are very crucial parts of any SaaS and can be tweaked in many ways towards the business.

The tracking can be either cheaper or more accurate etc.

And the user manipulation have to be dealt with inside, regardless some generic stuff, there are always industry specific user management stuff.

Yadi··on Ask HN: What are the most uplifting comments you've read on HN?
Hey I use ResearchGate! Haha. That is cool I didn't know it's based in Germany, also that is a wise choice, ReactJS is the shit, I've picked it up as well. The competent and multiplexed architecture apps will soon enough take over.
Yadi··on Ask HN: What are the most uplifting comments you've read on HN?
Hey that's awesome! What are you building these days?

Also, did you ever contact those folks back?

Yadi··on Failed Startup, Useful Product – Free Publishing Platform for You
Sorry to hear that, but hey! You get to walk out with bruises and patches from the front-line, that's the medal of honor and you get to tell the story....."kids, this earth exhaled us out when we tried building X..." well at least thats what I will tell, I've been in your shoes two or three times.

Also, need help with those things to open source it? like working on it before open sourcing it! I'd be happy to help.

Also, it looks cool, very cool to me.

Yadi··on Show HN: Kyoku – An app that shows iTunes current playing song on Mac menu bar
Ah this would be awesome if it was available for Spotify!
Yadi··on Using SMT Solvers to Analyze the Premier League Table
Oh I saw this on reddit! This is an awesome way to understand what the SMT solvers are good at and what not to use them for. I'm a fan of EPL and Man UTD, I've given some thought few times to try figuring out if there would be a away to approach this sort of solution.

I wonder if this can be applied to other set of fixtures! For example in the FA cup, more accuracy with winning and lower rate of teams. Or the other leagues like La Liga.

Yadi··on Ycomb interview invites 2015

- kreator.guru (This was for an alumni network web application that I created while ago)

- thestartup.guru (wanted to collect info about Startups / startup goodies and put it up here)

- fomo.technology (Bringing folks who are really busy upto date about Web Frameworks and other Tech).

- knowfund.com (my ex-x-startup, still owns the domain)

- ratemy.vc (I created a tool for helping startup fund raising nightmare with tagging VCs / rating them)

Yadi··on Ask HN: What are your unused domain names?

Yadi··on Show HN: Buckets – an Open Source CMS Built on Node.js and MongoDB

Yadi··on Show HN: Tagging all GitHub repos
This is awesome I love it, I wonder what are the API limitations?

Is there a way to recommend more repos depending on what I've already starred? Since most of them are tagged now.

The coolest part was what's hot on HN section!

Yadi··on Ask HN: Have you ever regretted taking an investment?
Yup!

But it was too late to do anything about it. I was pitching like a money craze just to set up the company and get things going. I managed to get what the startup needed and start rolling.

But Ow Boy! Getting investment from a politician that is from a 3rd world country can go south very quickly. We are talking about like really bad south.

I learned few things on the way:

1- Bad investment can very easily kill the company.

2- Living rough and patching things together can be a better investment than taking someone's money that you know will cause you horrible outcome.

Edit: red flags:

1- He/she have no clue how proper investment is done.

2- No trust or believe in the actual entrepreneurs. I don't care how much he/she offers, you've got to see it in their eyes that they are willing to do this and you as an entrepreneur is the one.

3- Don't take a politicians investment! Bad bad money.

Yadi··on Ask HN: Do you think there is a need for a community for career advice?
I answer a lot of question on Quora & Reddit about CS career stuff, I think it's nice to have a community, but reddit questions are more natural and less for show.

Quora career advice stuff have so much artificial taste added to it, such as: recruiter adding very weird advice and getting upvotes. While the answer would still not get a proper answer.

There is actually a startup called Career Dean, that is their whole mission.

Yadi··on Mentor startups in Gaza
Hi PValde, I agree with you the chances are very low and stakes are high when it comes to investing in a warzone, but it most probably works better to fight the odds and actually solve a problem as a startup.

I started 3 startups in North Iraq, perhaps not so much of a warzone these days, but still affected by all the drama coming out of it.

The problems I was facing were almost the same when I did my other startup in Sydney Australia, except there were some other odds added to it.

In fact Nokia Maps acquired my startup and it was we had such low burning rate / solving a real problem using proper technology.

So I guess investing in them would make sense at the end of the day if you know what and which ones to go for.

Yadi··on YC deadline in two days co-founder F's you
There was a startup in one of the YC W14 that had something similar to this case, but different scenario.

Camperoo, the technical founder quit, but she still moved on to apply to YC.

https://medium.com/@emmie/my-technical-co-founder-quit-the-d...

Perhaps you should still go ahead and apply!

But yeah like the jsprogrammer mentioned, add more details to here, there are lots of folks whom can give one or two words of advice. I've personally got some good feedback.

Yadi··on Ask HN: Would you teach your skills to anyone?
When you learn something you can't unlearn it.

>>"then unfortunately is replaced by other things"

I don't think that is how it works!

To answer your question:

The best way to use what you have learned is to share it or to connect it to something your are interested in.

I highly doubt high-school Physics would inspire one to become an astronaut, but it some how helps to see the things in a better way.

Always share what you learn and keep learning. At some point your subconscious works things out for you.

Yadi··on Ask HN: How do I find a team of 10-15 developers a project to work on?
Hey! This is an interesting topic! What kind of technologies you folks are interested in & have worked around mostly?

I have few things in mind, but not sure how plausible it would be for your team!

Yadi··on ASCII art animations in the URL bar
THIS!...It's so cool, wait how is this done?
Yadi··on Crowd-sourced list of European investors, angels and accelerators
Thanks this is a good list, is there a way we can edit / add more names, or we can get an editable copy of the file?
Yadi··on Crowd-sourced list of European investors, angels and accelerators
Irrelephant comment, but Thanks. I'm building a tool for Investors and I think this is the single best advice on the product I've found on Internet yet!
