Xiol32··on Jumping Spiders
We did.
Xiol32··on Show HN: OpenNutrition – A free, public nutrition database
You need to add a disclaimer for this data. People could rely on them being accurate, and you simply can't prove they are.
Xiol32··on Scientists break down plastic using a simple, inexpensive catalyst and air
Break down into what? Is this also going to end up in my testicles?
Xiol32··on The Pain That Is GitHub Actions
Having recently been involved in a Gitlab to ADO migration, keep fighting the fight. It is such a step backwards.
Xiol32··on Why I'm Feeling the AGI
Interesting that you chose "they" instead of "we".
Xiol32··on Kill your Feeds – Stop letting algorithms dictate what you think
Still can't find powder where I am. It's all tabs. I need that prewash, dammit!
Xiol32··on You might not need Redis
Same vibes as people who write SystemD.
Xiol32··on (Reasonably) secure Azure Pipelines on-prem deployments
All major Linux web servers have had zero downtime config reloading for as long as I can remember, at least 15 years.
Xiol32··on Show HN: Open-Source DocumentAI with Ollama
Defeats the point of the single binary installation if you have to set up dependencies.
Xiol32··on Rules to improve air quality are under attack
You can't convince people who have a completely unhinged view of reality.
Xiol32··on Microsoft begins turning off uBlock Origin and other extensions in Edge
There's also Zen, which is Firefox based.
Xiol32··on GPT-4.5
The example GPT-4.5 answers from the livestream are just... too excitable? Can't put my finger on it, but it feels like they're aimed towards little kids.
Xiol32··on Kaneo – An open source project management platform
Bounced out so hard. Not even any screenshots on the first page.
Xiol32··on Product Development Processes You Might Not Have Heard of (2022)
The phone thing is weird given you treat everyone like adults otherwise.
Xiol32··on Uncertainty surrounds US participation in WHO flu strain selection meeting
As Covid proved, viruses know no borders.

An immense act of self-sabotage from the vandals at the very top.

Xiol32··on YouTube's New Hue
Saving up all the changes for when they finally drop Manifest V2.
Xiol32··on Gemini 2.0 is now available to everyone
Friction.
Xiol32··on The FAA's Real Air Traffic Control Crisis Runs Much Deeper
Amazes me how much the AI generated slop artwork puts me off the actual content of the article, which I'm assuming is of greater quality.
Xiol32··on I miss Vim
I've been enjoying my time with Helix, although I've had to undo some muscle memory associated with vim, and add back commands I missed too much (never letting you go, 'dd').

My major complaint with Helix, and one that will stop me from using it long term, is the (IMO) insane undo behaviour. It always undoes too much and then I get myself into a mess. There's something about undo checkpoints and being able to manually create one, but I don't feel managing that should be my problem.

Xiol32··on Goose – an open-source, extensible AI agent that goes beyond code suggestions
Discord is not a substitute for proper documentation.
Xiol32··on Older adults disproportionately hindered by touch screen interfaces (2023)
I have a similar problem and I honestly only notice it on Apple devices.

Android and other random touchscreens seem fine, but my iPad can be a nightmare. I have to touch things multiple times for it to register. The fingerprint reader on there also hates me.

Xiol32··on Sixos: A nix OS without systemd [video]
systemd has done nothing but make my life easier. The people still moaning about it simply haven't used it and refuse to learn.
Xiol32··on Bitwarden is turning 2FA on by default for new devices
Fascist.

I'm very surprised a search didn't turn this up for you, or you're not asking in good faith.

Xiol32··on UK's hardware talent is being wasted
Try unfollowing Musk for a bit. It'll do you good.
Xiol32··on I Went from Reading 40 Books a Year to Reading 0
I am begging you to pick up some fiction instead.
Xiol32··on Amazon reveals first color Kindle, new Kindle Scribe, and more
The biggest flaw of the last gen for sure. It's right where my pinky naturally rests and I'm always hitting it by accident.
Xiol32··on Hollywood Can't Ditch Its Teslas Fast Enough:"They're Destroying Their Leases.."
Can you post the word 'cis' or 'cisgender' on X?
Xiol32··on Show HN: Inngest 1.0 – Open-source durable workflows on every platform
No option to self-host?
Xiol32··on Ripe Atlas probes, the largest Internet monitoring system
My probe recently celebrated it's 10 year anniversary. I think I have something like 24 million credits accumulated. I should probably find somewhere to donate them.
Xiol32··on Better Dotfiles
https://chezmoi.io/

This is so much easier and more full featured.
