X4··on Web development in C: Crazy?
I fully agree with you!

Personally I use Julia+C for my backends. Haven't decided which language to use for the front-end though, but probably just javascript, python or php.

X4··on Web development in C: Crazy?
Did you even seriously try it before you came up with this highly opinionated post.
X4··on Web development in C: Crazy?
Then by that logic, you shouldn't use a Computer, because the likelihood and aftermath of mistakes are enormous. :) c'mon, don't be that close-minded.
X4··on Web development in C: Crazy?
I don't know where the problem is, I use http://gpo.zugaina.org/dev-util/dtrace on Gentoo without a problem.

Don't you do something wrong, when you consult the company to use (more) offshore guys? I thought that a company is best led, when developers share their knowledge cooperatively and ask their managers to outsource unimportant time-consuming things like api-/file-/conversions, legacy code support, CSVs …

(Disclaimer: Don't get my tone wrong please, I'm asking not suggesting, thus I respect your experience.)

X4··on Web development in C: Crazy?
hehe, yeah duda and MonkeyHTTPd ftw. ! Been using both and many other webservers including nxweb for a quite some time now for trial. I do webdev in C and Julia for the Backend.

Why do they want that? To drop (atom-/vacuum-)bombs on their daily changing targets? Or to be able to tell customers it can kill anyone from space in 5min on any place on earth.

It would have been good if you included your references instead of halfheartedly telling us the keywords why you maybe disagree. I still upped your comment, because despite your ignorance, you've developed your own views to things, which as I said, just lack the references. Have an open mind and go beyond the words, start with your own imagination. To me it sounds, as if you cannot reason Dennett, but you leave us unclear what "that" logic inaccuracy is, thus making you appear ignorant.

The missing links (please complete them, if there was more that you'd like to share):

X4··on Bump (YC S09) has been acquired by Google
What is Bump? Was that that business-card sharing app I remember from the past?
X4··on Ask HN: On OS X, why does Firefox render fonts more readably than Chrome?
It's because Firefox implements it's own text-rendering engine. I don't know if chrome uses the OS API for text-rendering or has it's own text-rendering engine too.
X4··on Ask HN: Is there a way I can make $10,000 before the end of December?
haha, yeah like the Samwer Brothers, they copy existing startups. http://www.spiegel.de/international/business/the-samwer-brot...

To be honest, you probably won't make money with this until December.

X4··on Ask HN: Is there a way I can make $10,000 before the end of December?
$11,50? I am serious. You get 10Eur/h for cleaning floors in Germany. I can't believe that you'd get $11,40/h for coding an iOS App. No way! Even the cheapest company I know pays 50Eur/h for an iOS dev and they're currently valued between 120Eur/h and 200Eur/h here.

I know some law students, who clean floors, because they don't want to fill their head with useless stuff, when they can get along with 80Eur a day and concentrate on studying instead of work.

X4··on Ask HN: Best laptop/computer, OS, IDE/text editor for development?
Can you setup Hackintosh with working wifi and gpu on it? If yes, I'm sold
X4··on Ask HN: Best laptop/computer, OS, IDE/text editor for development?
Avoid HP, they suck unless you buy their Premium models which again might have driver problems with Linux
X4··on Ask HN: The HN Mind, can it it be gamed?
yes, I'm working on a project, that I don't know the outcome of yet to be honest.
X4··on Ask HN: The HN Mind, can it it be gamed?
You're totally right, the people lag behind because we haven't given them the tools to circumvent our social firewall more easily and automatically with data-mining tools. That has always been the case and a traitor will do it with a shrug one day, Be it government sponsored or corporately financed, this will force us to switch and adapt to the new problem of automated, targeted and individualized desinformation platforms. We need new solutions to this today.
X4··on Ask HN: The HN Mind, can it it be gamed?
I like the way you critically assess articles and it's respected when there is no substance or evidence. You're reading the references, but cannot see an evidence. How does your claim of pointlessness have a proof?
X4··on Dropbox-Hosted Websites
The brace.io homepage also looks like "drag&dropped" from the backlift folder
X4··on Dropbox-Hosted Websites
I don't know another explanation. https://backlift.com/ appears to be an effort to maximize profit, by having brace.io look like another service.

And the only scenario where this is useful is maybe a website for a client that cares shit about tech and just wants to manage his site on his own, to save his freelancer cents.

X4··on Show HN: Wit – Natural language for your app
I was initially thinking that this is just a SaaS2SaaS Wrapper around Google/Apple Speech recognition. Hey, tbh. wouldn't that be a clever way to market? hehe, that reminded me to SiriProxy.

But to give the authors their credit back, it's not what I guessed. It's much more a GUI around a complex toolset that would require you to dig deep into mudwater, bad docs etc. So, yes it makes life easier and sense to use this in your app. I have not evaluated the quality of their service yet, but it's a Startup, it's not going to stop improving (hopefully) :)

(Google/Apple are essentially powered by "Nuance", but with different qualities of training-data.)

More NLP/AI Startups and more colloboration on HN please!

2cents: I hope people don't sell to their first working protoype to the Google/Apple/Microsoft Empire, but try to get big on with friendly startup-colloboration and with the help of investors/angels.

Would you please keep me updated and tell me, if you're successful with the startup or not? How can I reach you?
X4··on Dungeons and Developers
Order doesn't matter as long as it's effcient. If you just know jquery not javascript, that's ok if you can complete complex front-end jobs too, you can master Javascript after/while you got/get shit done. Everything else is premature optimization.
X4··on Dungeons and Developers
This is awesome, but makes no sense without:

     * Business Skills
     * Social Skills
     * Mastery of a Start-up
     * Entrepreneur Skills
     * Organizational Skills ($ and PM)
     * Marketing Skills (most importantly)
Unfortunately I know that I mastered all of these topics on site already more or less, but not the mentioned ones.
