WolfOliver··on Ask HN: What features matter in collaborative LaTeX tools?
I guess a lot of users do not want to deal with Git hence Overleaf is so successful.
WolfOliver··on A History of Large Language Models
with what tool was this article written?
WolfOliver··on Show HN: I've build a platform for writing technical/scientific documents
thanks, that is helpful
WolfOliver··on React is winning by default and slowing innovation
React has a history of solid backwards compatibility. IMO one of the top reasons to choose React. You do not have to worry that much if the framework is still around in two years.

Also - as the article mentioned - everybody knows react.

This are two reasons why picking react is almost every time the right choice.

How the internal rendering works and if it is a little faster or slower is just an implementation detail.

WolfOliver··on PgEdge Goes Open Source
Your's has to little upvotes. I think it is only detected as duplicate if it had made the front page in the last few months.
WolfOliver··on Show HN: Modelence – Supabase for MongoDB
looking at the examples, it looks more like a Rails alternative?
WolfOliver··on Show HN: Notion-like editor for formal docs
I can not try it out without entering payment information?
WolfOliver··on Show HN: Notion-like editor for formal docs
I'm working on something similar. Check out MonsterWriter

BTW. Your domain authority is 0 but you claim your app ist trusted by teams from GitHub, AWS, MongoDB, ... Hard to believe.

WolfOliver··on The benefits of trunk-based development
I don't get this trust discussion. I don't trust myself not to do a mistake, why should I trust somebody else.

Also - while pair programming is great - it does not replace a code review. When you do pair programming you start working on the problem at the same time, you get tiered and annoyed of the problem at the same time. You want to go to lunch break at the same time. All reasons to slip in a sloppy solution and convince each other it is actually ok.

While doing code review you get a fresh perspective on the matter.

WolfOliver··on ChatGPT agent: bridging research and action
lol, when I press the play button to read the text, it just reads "undefined"
WolfOliver··on My open source project was relicensed by a YC company [license updated]
An app which is build for cheating complains about cheating ...
WolfOliver··on GitHub CEO: manual coding remains key despite AI boom
I think in 5 years from now we will see a major software dev shortage. Mainly because of all the reports that big tech companies are replacing devs with AI which scares new students to sign up for a CS degree.

The truth is that those devs who has been replaced should not have been hired in the first place as the companies were already overstuffed.

WolfOliver··on Show HN: I'm building an app to replace Overleaf and Notion
users who bought a license of MonsterWriter version 1 three years ago are using the latest version today without any additional payment.
WolfOliver··on Show HN: I'm building an app to replace Overleaf and Notion
I'm thinking to open source parts of it, like the text editor.
WolfOliver··on Show HN: I'm building an app to replace Overleaf and Notion
It is not a full notion replacement yet. But having team workspaces is around the corner as well as other knowledge management features.
WolfOliver··on Show HN: I'm building an app to replace Overleaf and Notion
Yes the editor is self build and it supports concurrent edits. You can try this out in the browser version and invite a coauthor.
WolfOliver··on Show HN: I'm building an app to replace Overleaf and Notion
currently the window binary is not code signed. This is a major problem and a lot of users complain. Even thought the code signing certificates are quite expensive I'm aiming to have this done sometime soon.
WolfOliver··on Show HN: I'm building an app to replace Overleaf and Notion
you can also download it from the mac app store: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/monsterwriter-thesis-papers/id...
WolfOliver··on Show HN: Tritium – The Legal IDE in Rust
I was wondering why the creation of docx files does not seem to have any formatting options but just plain text? Is this not required in legal context?
WolfOliver··on Show HN: I built an app to calculate body type and generate AI fitness plans
I'm a little bit confused, it says "Find clothing styles that flatter your figure" in the top part of the website but then never picks up on this. Is this feature really supported?
WolfOliver··on Show HN: I'm building an app to replace Overleaf and Notion
You can login in the browser version, this will work on Linux. But the at the moment there is no build available to run the desktop app on Linux.
WolfOliver··on Modern Latex
I would love to read some feedback on MonsterWriter. It is my side-project made to make LaTeX accessible for everybody.
WolfOliver··on Ask HN: Where are the good Markdown to PDF tools (that meet these requirements)?
I would love to read your feedback how it works with MonsterWriter.

1. Download the app [01] 2. Create a new empty document 3. Insert a markdown section type 4. past your markdown code into the markdown section 5. click on "Preview & Export" 6. Configure your PDF

I'm the creator of MonsterWriter. For complex markdown it probably has some shortcomings but I would love to hear what is missing for your use case.

WolfOliver··on OpenAI says it has evidence DeepSeek used its model to train competitor
I guess DeepSeek payed OpenAI for the usage of their API according to OpenAI's pricing?

So what is the point if you pay for it and can not use the results how you see fit?

WolfOliver··on RubyConf 2024: Cloud Native Buildpack Hackday (and other Ruby deploy tools, too)
Nice to Know: Buildpacks are also usable with Cloud Foundry - an enterprise grade open source PaaS which is used by a lot of large corporations.
WolfOliver··on Show HN: I made a website to semantically search ArXiv papers
but it can provide recommendations
WolfOliver··on Hetzner cuts traffic on US VPSs
"Until this change, customers who have used fewer resources have covered the costs, in a way, for other customers who have used much more resources." ... This argument does not make sense. I use very few resources but have to pay more.
WolfOliver··on Faster CRDTs (2021)
I'm the creator of MonsterWriter. MonsterWriter uses a very simple CRDT for JSON payload (references index, export config). For the collaboration on the actual text it uses OT. When I started to implement this 7 years ago. CRDT weren't a thing.
WolfOliver··on Show HN: InstantDB – A Modern Firebase
I'am always skeptical about this offline use case. Is it really as important as the CRDT community claims?

If you are on a plain, you could also just read a book.

WolfOliver··on The semantic web is now widely adopted
