Whinner··on Dropbox: Tech's Hottest Startup (2011)
I ended up doing $3/month for 200gb iCloud, $20/year google for 100gb and $20/year for 100gb amazon. I’ll try them all out and see which I like in a year.
Whinner··on Dropbox: Tech's Hottest Startup (2011)
I’m at the same point too. My Dropbox personal expires in a week and I’m not going to renew for $120/year. They’ve really priced themselves way too high for me. I just need a 100-200gb for photo backups from my phone. With Amazon, Google and even MS offering better pricing I really have not reason to stay.

MS in particular has great pricing. $99/year for 5 copies of Office and 1tb of storage. I can’t see the value of Dropbox any more.

Whinner··on Teach Yourself Computer Science
Georgia Tech has an online MS in CS or Cybersecurity. The CS degree is a little cheaper, classes are roughly $650 each, cyber are around $900. You're looking at around $7k or $12k for the entire degree. I'm currently in the Cybersecurity program if you have any questions.

Another option is NYU's Cyberfellow's MS for cybersecurity. It's around $16k https://engineering.nyu.edu/academics/programs/cybersecurity...

Whinner··on How California has contained coronavirus – and New York has not
The article is about California and NYC. I don’t think there is a comparable European city for LA
Whinner··on How California has contained coronavirus – and New York has not
The article doesn’t mention public transportation at all. Nyc has huge numbers of people on subways and buses. LA is predominately cars. The bart in the Bay Area is somewhat comparable to nj transit and commuter trains into nyc but SF has nothing like the nyc subways

As a follow up on this, MSPs also get better pricing depending on the number of certified employees they have. For instance, years ago the MSP i worked for needed a number of people to have their VMware VCP cert to get to the next level. Even after someone left, they kept their VCP still associated with the MSP.

Cisco also does the same thing. You need a certain number of CCIEs on staff for better pricing.

Whinner··on The Bloomberg Terminal, Explained
I remember the first time I saw a trader holding up his b-unit to the monitor, I thought it was some hazing ritual they were putting me through. Until that point I had only done small shop IT. It blew my mind when I realized not only was this trader really screaming at me for real, I couldn't believe that it did eventually work.

Bloomberg support is amazing. Whenever I had to call them as an IT guy for a trading firm, the calls were over in about 3-5 minutes.
